    So inspiring. Maybe this is the weekend that I finally go buy some plywood and 1x, and start getting my benchwork roughed in?

    Watching someone take an idea and turn it into a beautiful piece of art, like you have has been a real pleasure for me. It’s obvious you really enjoy what you do. Thanks for sharing this with us. Gruesome Gulch has been a different theme.

    Cool Dave, “they are individuals, after all.” Gruesome comment, very appropriate! Love how you did this. Definitely will try out the polyurethane carving foam.

    Gruesome Gulch reminds me of the "Phantom Canyon" and "Skeleton Catacombs" scenes from Disneyland Paris' Phantom Manor. This whole layout looks amazing!

    Hi Dave. My one wish is, once this great ride on attraction is completed, is a POV camera shot throughout cab ride. Or POV from one of the open air excursion cars. Or, I add greedily, both! Thanks. See ya next time.

    It'd be really cool if one of the bridges was semi-spectral, like acrylic painted to look like wood at the top that fades to clear with a ghostly green light shining up from the bottom or something
    also some type of custom modeled ghost train with macabre stylings like the classic front mounted skull and maybe even a fiery underglow would be incredible
    anyway, looks awesome!

    Hi Dave, I'd love to see some dry ice fog billowing along the River of Souls, or through that bridge portal, both from the back to the front. It would create an amazing and ghostly effect together with the light effects, and eventually even turn into a ghostly waterfall (fogfall) at the front edge.
    A super silent micro fan running at a very low speed might be supportive to direct the fog.
    As always, amazing creativity and results. Love your videos.

      I talked about this in my last livestream. Dry Ice and (most) smoke effects are great for photos or video clips, but as permanent features on a model railroad they present numerous problems. Dry ice needs to be continually replenished. Most smoke effects use an oil based compound that will eventually build up on rails, etc and cause problems. It works on my geyser feature on the TMMC because it's only used about once a month. So, they are great for Halloween parties and short duration uses, but a maintenance headache as a long term installation.

      @Jay2646 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ThunderMesaStudio They make water atomizers now that create very cool "smoke" effects with simple distilled water. It's essentially a very (very) fine mist that you can blow around with a fan.
      They're meant for moisturizers, but there's quite a few videos out there showing how to use them for smoke effects on a model railroad. A lot easier than nicotine-free vape fluid!

    • @ThunderMesaStudio
      @ThunderMesaStudio  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Jay2646 I'm aware. The question again is, how much maintenance do you want to do?

    • @jsjs3570

      @@ThunderMesaStudio My apologies for bringing up this topic twice. I have not yet been able to finish watching your livestream recording about backgrounds, but looking forward to doing so.
      Yes, that's what I feared, that some/most solutions might not really be practical, especially not being residue-free.
      So, possibly something solely for your Halloween 2023 recording ( not giving up hope yet to see the train making its way through that fog, lol )
      Thanks for your reply and explanation! Have a great evening.

    Great stuff! My layout features oh-uh, let's say a bit different vignettes. Godzilla, The Addams house, The Munsters, and the Bates house. Its a HO scale Bachmann layout, intermixed with an HO scale AURORA raceway track.

    A grade crossing in Cadaver Caverns... or a grave crossing?
    It'd be cool if you replaced those wood planks you added with maybe some headstones, like that's all that was lying around down there...

    Hi David
    Well you certainly nailed the the bridge from the land of the dead. I half expected to need a load of Grail Knights with the magic banner of the lady of the lake to deal with the un-dead hoards about to cross the bridge. in another life I played fantasy war games, but they changed my army rules in a way I did not like.
    I really like how the layout is progressing not only would I like to see it completed. But also for it to survive beyond the "normal" layout lifetime. Can't wait to see what will lurk in the alcove by the bridge a three headed guard dog called Fluffy LOL??
    I think a broken faded Railway Crossing sign in the style of the Maine two footers might look good at the crossing. regards John

    😂😂😂 Great brain teaser of a build Dave. A couple points.😱😭
    Oneth, IF you have some 3D printed skeletal remains in your parts box, stain & weather them up. Then use the ribs, arms, & legs as scatter under and around the bridge.
    Twoth, YOU ARE A TROUBLE MAKER. Sort of!
    Today starts Spring brake for our College Student Gandy Dancers. Traditionally we adults throw a bailout party for their departure. While we sat around with Espressos and Pastries, this episode popped up.🧐😤🤔. So the kids, who already took on your ominous rock face over the River of Souls for my under world thrill ride mainline Virginia layout, have decided they could add to my scene this bridge as an entry tunnel.
    So now while these young people are supposed to relax with sex, brews, and Rock & Roll, my guys are ZOOMING how to redo your GGRR Catacomb Trestle.
    AREN'T YOU ASHAMED OF YOURSELF?
    Jim in N.Y.

    If I had guessed I'd figured the bridge was going to be a trestle type made of Dino bones!!! Maybe one of the others! thx

    Another fine scene, but can you tell me how you did 3 video s in a row that came out within one second of each other?😂
    I thought you were going to make a grade cross with two sculls as the flashing lights.
