    First of all, I am a big fan of your work, I have been watching for several months now, and I rewatch often for ideas and inspiration. I have been out of Model Railroading about 20 years, now and your work has been pulling me back. I am a Carman for the Union Pacific (25 years), a railroad family, 119 years so far, at Albina Yard. When I hired on, my buddy came with me, and convinced me to model what we see every day, "We can get so many great pictures.". It became too much like work. Before that point my modeling focus was 1964, mainly Northern Pacific Terminal Co., and the other railroads of Portland, Oregon. There are many childhood memories, that go with this theme. Thank you for helping me find my way back to 1964 with your work. What you have built is amazing, I can look for hours.
    Second of all the nitpick of a carman/detail nut. As often as I have watched your videos, I have never been pulled from immersion, like I was with this video, it's the green Lehigh Valley boxcar. For me who inspects cars for specific marks, as part of my job, I had to say something. Your stated modeled years are the mid60s, Cartrax/ACI label first year 1967, COTS rectangles 1974, U-1 Yellow wheel dot 1978. A little thing I know, but it does stand out.
    Third, please keep it up. I will be back time and again, all the best. Sam

      Sam, thanks for the comments and I am pleased you’re finding inspiration in my work. Also, I do appreciate the nitpick on the LV car. That one had been stored away for years and one day it wound up on the layout for a bit. I am modeling mid-60s, warm months of 1965 if I had to narrow it down. But, I allow myself some timeframe flexibility here and there with a freight car or two and happily ignore New York Central diesel remembering in 1966, but never go past the Penn Central merger in 1968. So, the LV car is clearly out of bounds. Back to storage it goes. Thanks for the heads up!

    I have reserved comment on your layout until the last episode. I started with the layout tour, and watched up to episode 13. I must say, you have planned out a very awesome switching layout. The low speed of how the they operate within the city is great. You have left no stone unturned, with your attention to the smallest detail. The little things like litter, trackside trash, congested city streets, the sanitation truck making curb pick ups, and the city streets leading into the city away from dirty side of town. And, the work you have into the city scape is extraordinary, the amount of time you have put into building and detailing all those building, the broken windows, the years of soot on the buildings, etc. I just don't have enough adjectives to describe how fantastic that layout shows. Congratulations on a hobby project well done, 1 of the best I have ever seen. And, I'm willing to bet, that it's even more impressive up close and personal. Thx for gracing the You Tube community with your incredible work. Thx Ted

      Thanks so much for the feedback and kind words. I wish I could say that everything you mentioned was conceived and planned from the beginning, but in reality it has evolved over time. I’m all about continuous improvement as we learn and grow in the hobby.

    After watching other layout videos, another thing that stands out in yours is the lighting! It looks very realistic and closely resembles actual daylight. Also your camera work is exceptional, and you get close enough to the action to make it look very realistic! Enjoy every one of them.

    Another great video!! I could spend hours watching your trains in action, and this time you added another viewpoint. Keep up the good work.

    Love seeing the older railroads of your time shown in Manhattan! The nickel plate, Lehigh and C&O! Thats how it's done! Great video

    Exceptional modeling and your steady recordings are nicely done. I'd like to see a total view of the layout from a top down aerial perspective as well as a complete side view.

    Awesome video and layout Is your track plan posted somewhere?

      Thank you for the feedback. I hand drew the plan eleven years ago on graph paper and in recent years I’ve made changes to the track arrangements in nearly every section of the layout.

      It’s an Atlas Gold Series model of a Fairbanks-Morse H16-44 with a factory installed LokSound Select decoder.

      @@amandahammond2691 Yes, used Pan Pastels for weathering. Might’ve dry brushed a small bit on this one, too, not sure. I don’t think I weather the exact same way twice.

    What year is this set in?

    • @manhattanterminalrailroadh9776
      @manhattanterminalrailroadh9776  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve wiggled around a bit with the year. I started with the layout set in 1960 but I have since settled on the mid-1960s, with a wee bit of wiggle room. I want to keep the layout a New York Central layout, so I want to stay in a time before the 1968 Penn Central merger.
