I've recently purchased a Panda 4x4 Antarctica, removed the silly penguin decals, had a engine remap from 85bhp to about 105bhp, now pulls like a train in all gears, well happy!

I've got one of these. It's got a lot of torque for a small engine. It's a great motorway car as it pulls so well in higher gears.

Higginz1220 true that, I had one a few years ago. Sat at 70 mph very nicely and still had pulling power left. Relaxing cruiser.

They fucked up by not using a 270 degree crank with true dual exhaust though.
Same efficiency, same power, smoother engine and much better sound:

Just bought 4x4’ Twin Air. Love it but juicy. Seems to have a rev limiter around 6000. Or is that just mine?

Ive had the twinair panda lounge, and twinair 500 S, but that one developed some kind of engine fault, a software issue apparently and not long after, Fiat removed this engine from the lineup. Got a panda 4x4 multijet instead. Wrong! Should have got the twinair version. The diesel had such awful gearing, it was impossible to do more than 60mph on the motorway or else it would sound like it would rattle itself to bits. Got an abarth 500 after that LOL.

  • @drawwithdan5821

I had a twinair trekking for six years and went all around the UK in it, did offroading and all sorts. It never put a foot wrong. It's now my brothers and I miss it greatly.

Great choice, just avoid the diesel, gearing is appalling for motorways.

@@oddities-whatnot I eventually got the 4x4 Twinair version, a limited edition Antarctica model, had it over a year now, very happy with it, 6 speed box helps a lot to keep the engine in that 'happy' part of the rev range to get the best out of that 875cc engine. Surprisingly it is very nimble, definitely no slouch! 👍😎

@@oddities-whatnot Really happy with my Fiat Panda 4x4 Antarctica with the Twinair engine, just over 2 years of trouble free ownership.
I was very apprehensive of the little 875cc 2 cylinder engine for a car, I'm used to 2.0 traditional 4 cylinder engined cars.
I needn't have worried, it's a very capable engine 85bhp is plenty for such a small car.
It definitely benefits from the 6 speed gearbox and you'll need to keep it in the optimum gear to keep the engine in it's most efficient place in the rev range.
1st is very low, it's meant to be a crawler gear for making progress over a rough terrain or a loose surface but it's also perfect in slow moving traffic, just put it in 1st it will crawl along at engine tick over speed without any clutch dipping, it has plenty of torque it won't stall,
6th gear is a very tall gear.
MPG varies considerably, best I've had on a long run with the car loaded up for a camping trip, 2 adults and a dog plus all our gear, mixed driving, 54mpg.
Round town you'll easily get mid 40s mpg but put your foot down and rev it through the gears it'll easily go down to mid 30s mpg.
Road tax is super cheap, I pay £30 a year, insurance is also very cheap.
Servicing costs are minimal and easy to do yourself, 3.2 litres of oil and 2 spark plugs, there's a gearbox and rear diff, no centre diff or transfer box.
It's got a really clever drive train, basically it is FWD but the rear wheels get drive if the front wheels start slipping. It also has Electronic Stability Control which stops a slipping wheel and puts more torque to the other wheels with grip. Then there is 4x4 with Electronic Locking Diff all 4 wheels are driven equally.
It's all automatic apart from the ELD button.
Would recommend having a test drive and see how you feel about it.
The cross version really looks the part.
