This public service announcement pertains to Nordic Track and Proform rowers. Inspect your strap for fraying. One suspected cause of abnormal wear might be due to a sharp edge on the guide piece.
Thanks for posting. In two years I’ve broken two straps on my NT RW200. Today I installed my third and after inspecting every inch of the strap travel path, I had the same thought as you and sanded off the rough surfaces of the harmless looking little plastic molded part. I’m disappointed in Nordictrack, given that I still own a fully functional NT Pro ski machine that’s around 30 years old. That dinky little plastic part could end up really hurting someone.
