I saw Celine a very long time ago and I tell everyone to this day that, even though I’m a huge metal fan, her show was the best I have ever attended. She give’s everything on stage!
Okay, it's not news that Celine is just a powerhouse singer/performer, but I recently watched her and James Corden on his Carpool Karaoke segment and I had no idea how fun and funny she is too. It's worth checking out. Really shows a great side of her personality.
Celine's voice is absolutely stunning she is an incredible singer her voice is incredible those powerful high notes this had chills down my spine i hope one day she can perform like this again ❤❤❤she definitely deserves an outstanding achievement award 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆very emotional performance
Huge metal/hardcore fan here, basically all I listen to - Celine Dion holds a place in me that no one else can touch tbh, since I was a little kid. Every single time is tears. Just an absolute Goddess, theres almost a mystical quality to her voice and presence. Saw her live once and felt like I was in a trance. Played The Power of Love as the mother/son dance at my wedding. It was intense...
Metalhead here too - Death Metal, Black Metal, Trash, Prog, etc etc... I love it all. And I absolutely adore Celine Dion as well! So thankful growing up that I had siblings that appreciated that good music is good music no matter the genre.
Céline is one of a kind. As she said in an interview, there's only one Mariah, there's only one Whitney and there's only one Céline. Everyone of them has their unique features, but I feel like Céline has that passion, emotion and charisma which is rare to find.
Oh gosh!! we miss her everyday and she does not deserve that health condition because she has done so much for so many people… it’s so unfair what she has to go through 😭 i PRAY that she gets healed and gets a miracle.. another chance to perform again because there is no one like celine in the industry.. her absence can be felt!!
I remember a very young Celine performing at The Paul Rodriguez's Show, so many years ago, and how amazed the audience was due to her talent and emotional connection with the people. One of the best voices over the Earth. Hope she gets well soon. Thanks for sharing your impressions, Beth.
I was fortunate enough to see her live in Las Vegas a few years back and I literally cried at almost every song she sang. It was also shortly after her husband had died so it was even more emotional and they had a beautiful tribute to him. She has said so many times that performing is what she loves most (besides her kids). I can’t imagine how difficult this must be for her right now. I hope she is able to get well and back to the stage to share her gift again.
Rolling Stone magazine made a huge mistake leaving Celine off the list. Give me a break! I am glad you stated this .. and did this reaction to this very performance. I sure do hope that Celine recovers and her health improves soon. Love her... love her music, personality and presence!! Miss her so much and hope we get to see her in her element soon!!!! 🥰🤩
Céline is just such an icon, good lord this woman. Also, very fun fact, she's SO funny, too! She's an absolute laugh on any talk show she goes on, she's just as much fun listening to talk as she is mesmerizing to listen sing 😂😂
Thank you for this reaction! Celine's health struggles really sadden me. I haven't always been a huge fan. I was actually in high school when Unison came out in 1990. I initially loved her, but I've never been more sick of a song than I am over "My Heart Will Go On"! I think that was when I stopped listening to her very much. Then in 2016, I saw an interview with her shortly after her husband died. Her humility and kindness made me fall in love with her again. Her voice is truly epic, I would argue one of the two greatest voices of my generation (the other being Whitney)! She's an amazing human being and epic singer!
I grew up hearing Celine when she sang in French. She is, to this day, my absolute favorite singer of all time. Her voice hits deep and I cry every time. I pray she gets better soon.
I’m an Australian but I made the 20 + hour flight to Vegas 6 separate times to see her residency show there. Worth all the money in the world. Not just a phenomenal voice but my goodness what incredible showmanship. There is literally no one like her. ❤️
I wish I had been able to go. That tour seemed like one of the best I have ever seen. And it’s too bad, because not only did the pandemic interrupt it, but now this illness of hers is going to keep her out of business for a while. Who knows if she’ll ever perform again?
I was fortunate to see this tour in Sydney. It was her first show as a 40yo. She'd been struck down with a throat infection for the original date, however performed the following week with no issue. Truly incredible voice and soul.
Celine Dion is hands down one of the best belters there are and have been. It has focus, stability, thrust, no shrillness at all, its remarkably good. And her overall agility and accuracy are pristine. Rock solid singing technique. And she has been around for some decades now. She has been setting standards.
I just can't imagine a world without Celine singing in it! Truly hope she recovers enough, because the world will be much poorer if not! She wasn't well either here, so to sing it was amazing. You're right, lots of people can sing this song, belt it out etc, but to me they all lack the emotion. Celine's had many ovations like that! A few have lasted 5-10 MINUTES long lol
Beth you’re so sweet and supportive, I really enjoy your commentary ❤ This reminded me of the times when we discussed Céline with my voice teacher, and she told me similar things about her crazy training schedule. Céline is an incredibly hardworking individual, she’s a legend. I also wanted to confess that I’ve been recently using some of your videos for an exercise called shadowing to practice my speaking (English isn’t my first language). The way you connect words is so gentle in your accent, and your personality is so sweet! I’ve learned so much from you just being you. Thank you so much for the work you do! Always looking forward to your new uploads ✨
She did this in concert after her husband died. Actually it was a better version, more mature. One of the greatest singers over time...wish her well in the future.
Celine's much more than just a singer! She has the ability to make you feel every word & bring you tears, no mater the language! I can only think of a handful of vocalist who can do that! Karen Carpenter, Lara Fabian and Celine are the ones who come to mind for me.
Hi Beth. I agree with you. Celine Dion is a wonderful singer and she got perfect voice control. Lots of love to Celine Dion ❤❤❤❤❤❤ And a big hug to you Beth.🌹🌹
Celene is such an under-rated or forgotten talent these days. I remember seeing her performance at Eurovision when she won and thinking she was an exception to all the other contestants. Her expression at 5:39 always makes me think she is as shocked and amazed at that power-note as her listeners. Her Taking Chances album is one I'm glad to say I bought.
Celine is a treasure of the world, accessible to everyone. Her health issues are a tragedy. We may never hear her sing again. But we have clips like this to remember what she has given to the world.
This is my hands down favourite performance she has done of this song. I so love that she brought back the original classical treatment of the melody with the piano player. David Foster is amazing, obviously, but he does a more …. Well … David Foster piano treatment of the piece. This pianist really leans into the gorgeousness of the original inspiration. Celine is so vocally vulnerable in this performance. I ADORE the way she has such utter control of her voice but she always allows it to be coloured by whatever it wants to be that day/evening. The little rattles and rasps and huskiness that she somehow takes and molds into something that just grabs your heart and pulls you right in. Her voice is so very human and real. An outstanding example of how perfecting the basics allows you to break all the rules. I love the way her whole body gets into her singing. You can see her building up the energy as the song goes along that she will need for THAT note. There are so many amazing artists out there who have taken this song on and done wonderfully with it, but this truly Celine’s song. Absolutely no one does it like she does. This performance never fails to give me chills all over my body and tears spring to my eyes. I think you’d have to be DEAD inside not to be affected by this. I don’t know how it is that she’s underrated, because she gets her flowers for her talent. But my god, if you listen to her entire catalog of music, the range of what she does with her voice is astounding. She’s not my favourite artists and I don’t listen to her very often, but my god, when I do ….. it’s otherworldly. And she remains one of so few artists who brings it to a WHOLE other level when she performs live. She truly feeds off of the energy of the audience and reflects it and more right back. ❤
Beth😅, your technical insights are very illuminating to someone like me, untrained in music but loving a wide range of genres all my 7 decades of conscious listening (and a bit of playing and singing). I find your evident, huge enjoyment of the music inspiring. This is a great channel. Xx
Celine Dion's first language is French and I find that her performances in that language are far more personally engaging, expressive, and heartfelt than when she sings in English. I'm not fluent in French so my reaction isn't based on my understanding of the language. I would love to see your reaction to a performance of hers in French...au revoir.

You're such a delight Beth, honestly, I can't wait to spend the next 50 years, give or take for me, on this world watching you as we listen to amazing music :) x
❤ Celine
You should do the Eric Carmen version - it was a massive hit. He was the singer in the Raspberries. He's an interesting singer and terrific songwriter.
Great reaction to an amazing artist. Beth, I’ve mentioned previously a young Soprano by the name of Amira Willighagen. She has one particular video that has over 74 million views. Yes , 74 million. This was a performance with that world renown musician / conductor Andre Rieu when Amira was 10 y.o. 15,000 people rose as one to give her a standing ovation. The performance was as follows: …. … Amira Willighagen singing O Mio Babbino Caro with Andre Rieu. Aged 10. I know you will be as gobsmacked as were her millions of fans worldwide when first hearing this magnificent, powerful but Angelic voice. I subscribed to your Chanel some time ago as I love your music knowledge & also with the hope of some Amira reactions. Cheers Graeme.
for some reason, celine’s performance here reminds me of lady gaga covering “if i ever lose my faith in you” by sting. the goosebumps in unreal 🥲 it would be great if you could react to it, beth!
It’s phenomenal! I made the exact same comment elsewhere and some troll told me I don’t deserve to live- thanks, TH-cam! 🙄 Glad others agree with me on Gaga’s brilliance! 🌹
I need to point out as a french canadian that she made her career without youtube, tiktok, vocal show and even internet... just talent in this narrow era she was
Adam Neely has made brilliant video essay on why the key change in Celine's version is "the most elegant" in pop history. I tend to agree. It's how that prolonged belted high note extends into the new key, and instantly goes from ennui to triumph - the exact same note, only in a new harmonic context. Whoever dreamt that up is a genius, (and most certainly classically trained).

To be fair, Rolling Stone magazine has always been a joke within the industry. It appeals to casual fans of whatever subject, since they don't focus solely on music. I'm not a big Celine Dion fan but do respect her vocal power (how can you not?) and it's insanity that she would be excluded from any best-singer list. A person can assume that RS has done it on purpose just to get people talking but also can't rule out sheer incompetence and ineptitude of the young staff "writers" currently employed.
They once gave her “A New Day” show in Vegas bad reviews and she called them out in an interview basically saying that if they know they don’t like classical/Pop love ballads then they shouldn’t come to HER show. Ever since then RS (unsuccessfully) had it out for her, still to this day. If anything, leaving her off the latest list was only done as a way to stay relevant for another 15 minutes 🤧
The night Celine got on stage for the very first time with Ginette Reno, her idol singer throughout her childhood. "Un peu plus haut" (a little higher). An epic performance.
I saw Celine a very long time ago and I tell everyone to this day that, even though I’m a huge metal fan, her show was the best I have ever attended. She give’s everything on stage!
Wow, that’s one huge praise in my books. Ppl who always dismiss her are usually those who don’t like pop or ballad a lot.
Seen her 3 times and it’s just a vocal craziness filled with feelings and taste. Can’t even describe it. But you have seen her so you know. Amazing
Metal is Passion. That’s why you loved Celine. She is Passion. ❤
Είναι ποπ ροκ τραγουδίστρια από τις ποιος τεράστιες
You are right! Her concerts are epic. One of my favorite singers

Eccentric Aunt you always want to hang out with energy, for sure
She's SO funny!! Even in regular interviews, she's such a little firecracker, love her 😂😂
I’m a total hard rocker, but she is absolutely one the best singers ever, period.

Yup. And there's only one in that list that lip-syncs.. Mariah.

I agree. So beautiful! Thanks for a lovely comment :)
I saw her when she last came to Glasgow and hands down the best vocal performance I've ever witnessed. Legendary

Celine is top 10 best singers of ALL TIME! A legend, an icon. A superb vocalist especially with the career she’s had. A queen.
Please make another video about her performance in the Paris Olympic Opening Ceremony!

This note forever changed the music industry!
Her voice is just amazing.
She did this in concert after her husband died. Actually it was a better version, more mature. One of the greatest singers over time...wish her well in the future.
Yeah because she was really feeling the song that time. She actually broke down during the song and the crowd was very supportive

Celine's voice can break hearts
I love her rendition of "At Seventeen"...Yes Celine can belt nut more than that..she can emote a song
Shes also actually very cool as a person!
I dont know why but at her highest note, i must always cry. 😢
I love your channel and your sensitivity ❤
She is so talented
When I hear this song all I can think of is Bridget Jones diary. Lol
How RS left her off the list of best singers is beyond me. Criminal.
If anything, leaving her off the latest list was only done as a way to stay relevant for another 15 minutes 🤧
overlooking the best seller fenale artist of all time takes all the credibility they had left
Got me too, Beth. Magnificent.
The night Celine got on stage for the very first time with Ginette Reno, her idol singer throughout her childhood. "Un peu plus haut" (a little higher). An epic performance.
