if we are reading the first file character by character then shouldn't the data type be char rather than int

sir in this video, in while loop how the ch value gets the next character? (without mentioning ch++ ) does it automaticaly moves to the next character in the file? can anyone tell me?

It's because when we use fgetc function, it reads characters and pointer automatically shifts to next charecter. So each time loop iterates new character is assigned to ch. And runs till condition is true ie. till the point when it reads EOF.
