Thanks for another great video. I'm still amazed at how awesome that approach into downtown SF is - an impressive bridge, immediately followed by a tunnel, followed by another incredible bridge. Not to mention the view!!
Great drive, the Oakland Bay Bridge is always a fun drive to see. I do miss the old double deck section leading into Oakland, but I'm glad we still have that on the western section. That is strange with the no "I-80 ENDS" sign. Seems like an easy way to cause confusion for new visitors.
The old bridge certainly wasn't without its charm. I don't think I ever got to drive the old bridge. It was being dismantled on my first visit to SF years ago.
The very least they should do, is add an I-80 shield with a small rectangular one right above the shield that says “END” like I’ve seen on other ones at their terminus. Very very nice drive on the bay bridge:)
Hey I live in Solano County I know in Fairfield and Vacaville section of I-80 in the start of this video at the Cordelia Interchange has to carry both Sacramento and Bay Area Commuters at the same time.
As you drive through major interchanges or even some smaller cooler ones you should put a overhead view of you going through the interchange via google maps in the corner of the video .
2:00 Actually, I-80 parallels US 40 between San Francisco and Sacramento, CA. Not only that, US 40 follows the rest of I-80 towards Silver Summit, UT. Before the renumbering, US 40 and US 50 merge between San Francisco and Oakland, CA. US 50 follows today's I-580 CA all the way to Tracy, CA and it goes with I-205 CA then I-5, CA 120 and then CA 99 and then into Sacramento, CA.
Great drive! Did you know? Interstate 24 in Georgia has a exit number continues according to Tennessee's mileage while the milepost starts at zero according to Georgia's mileage.
The I-80 is one of my favorite Interstate in the Interstate Highways system, thanks for uploading dude 👊. But what hapenned to the old Oakland Bay Bridge?
It had to be replaced after suffering fairly serious damage in the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake. Part of the upper section collapsed onto the lower one and Caltrans decided it would be cheaper, easier, and safer to replace the 1930s-era bridge with a brand new one. Well.. thehy were right on all but the cost! Construction's been ongoing for the last decade and completely only recently.
Hi Asphalt Planet, I loved the drive, but I noticed that this thumbnail and the title don't match, and after watching the awesome video I think the title might need to change.

This stretch of I-80 offers quite some nice views. I can also agree that the I-80 Bay Bridge is one of the best way to enter a city. Great video!
You did an absolute terrific job with this video! Thank you for the best 13 minutes of the day! Love the Bay!

You're right, I made a typo.
Also I-80 from Sacramento to San Francisco used to be the alignment for Lincoln Highway around the time the original Carquinez Bridge Opened in 1927.
The rest area at 2:10 gives a wonderful view of Six Flags rollercoasters.
I have traveled this segment many times. Never got tired of it. I do have footage of my own that I have yet to make.
it's a beautiful stretch of highway. thanks for the comment.
Fun drive. It certainly does get very green in spring there doesn't it. Too bad it doesn't last through summer.
I live in Fairfield. I have driven this stretch numerous times.

You're right, I forgot to update the title from my last San Francisco area video. Thanks for the correction, I have updated the video title.
