- Matty Cranmer Turns His Dirt Jumper Into A "Street Jumper" meaning that he somehow figured out a way to put pegs onto his MTB dirt jumper and we brought it to the skatepark and put it to the test by doing as many BMX inspired peg grinds on the rails and ledges!
CAN'T SLOW DOWN Shirts Here! www.cantslowdow...
Matty is definitely one of a kind, it’s amazing the things he’s came up with over the years🙌🙌
Sold by Specialized like 15 years ago. The P.Street. 24” wheels. Marzocchi made a special axle for the Dirtjumper fork. As far as I know that version of that fork only came on that bike. Brooklyn Machine Works, Tonic Fab, and others experimented with this idea a long time ago.
@@DeepSouthBuilder As true as that is, I don't think that detracts from how fun or cool this is. Much like Matty says, "I dunno, I just (think) it would be fun to put pegs on (a/the) dirt jumper."
Those things were pretty cool back in the day if memory serves. Liked ya comment/reply.
Sam Pilgrim did a video of pegs on his dirt jumper a few years ago.
I love all the content but watching brothers hang together and come up with stuff is for sure my favorite to watch.
Not only Matty does any tricks he wants, but he builds anything he wants too. This video was awesome
This dude really blows minds with the things he comes up with.... the bikes and tricks in the past have been amazing.... keep shreading and using ur mind
This channel is the best. Tons of two-wheeling creativity.
As I said before,Matty the mad inventor strikes again.Well done on the adapting of the pegs and the riding, you got skills boy.😂
Love the work
You could use blue lock tight on both nuts, let it cure over night, then get back at it!
Definitely been done. Got a buddy doing handrails on his dirt jumper.
Bunky Dunn has been running pegs on his DJ for quite some time, but not modified the huge axle way Matty did. He's been hitting rails for years so whatever he set up still holds up. Either way cool to see more people doing it!
Great vid Scott!
I wanna see a street section on that by Matty.
I want to see his creativity come out again
Yo FYI that is called Threaded Rod folks and shouldn't be used for anything like this! It's not anywhere close to Grade 5 or Grade 8 strength which is what you have for say your stem bolts, they are hardened. Threaded rod is NOT heat treated as it isn't meant to be used for things where strength is key or if it fails someone could get injured.
That all thread is so much larger than any normal axle, it will be fine.
Those bearings should love that all-thread
I wish I could show my 81 supergoose at modern this weekend but I am attending a rc crawler event on the other side of the state this weekend. I can't be at 2 places at once
This is motivating for a project I've been thinking of making! Sick video guys
Inventive, fun and Matty skill
As somebody who rides a DJ I'm digging the vid. There are only a handful of people who've put pegs on a bigger bike, one who comes to mind is Sam Pilgrim. I'm thinking you guys should do a team up. Keep in mind, Sam in insane.
Yo pilgrim and cranmer hook up would be insane next level
Yooo more of this please. I spent more time on my dirt jumper than my BMX bike. Slightly easier on my aging joints. 😂
Matty did a good job of setting up his bike. I am not surprised the chain gave out at the end after all those grinds. I think my dirt jumper will be safe from that sort of punishment though. Great riding though Matty.
You guys wouldn’t believe this, I had a manitou Sherman on my dirt jumper in high school over 10 years ago I had my friend machine me the same axle that came on the fork out of steel with the proper bolt and did this .
Been done before by Sam pilgrim, but cool video.
If you want to set this up legitimately; get yourself an axle from a 2005 Marzocchi 'D Street 24' fork.
The fork also came with grind plates to protect the base of the fork.
I had the axle and plates set up on a 26" Marzocchi Dirt Jumper fork for a while, but it should work on most 20mm dropout forks.
I specialize in making custom parts like this, Matty please hit me up the next time you want to do something like this, I'd love to lend a hand
Put some bmx handlebars on the dirt jumper.
I put rigid forks on my dirt jumper specifically to run pegs. It's a great fun street bike too.
Matty gotta get some big flat washers that fit up against the frame and inside of the peg then throw some lock washers on top before putting the nuts on. Crank those suckers down and you won’t have to constantly check the peg/axle
Classic mad scientist Matty!
Pegs on a DJ bike should be a thing. It wouldn't be too difficult for fork manufacturers to make a fork thru axle that can accommodate pegs.
What you call bolts are actually callled nuts and the nuts are called bolts
I mean you weren't the one to come up with this idea actually it was Pedro from Napoleon Dynamite that probably had the first interation of this bike 😂
Looks great. I'd like to see a rocket manual
Hubguard + Shadow chain 👌
I'm a bit confused, did you replace the axel with the threaded bar or run it through the middle of the axel?
I have a 20mm thru-axel on my Marzochi Bomber DJs and the it has a 10mm hole through it. If you drilled out the other end where the Allen wrench would go you could pass a 10mm threaded bar through the center, 10mm is the same as the rear axel bolts on a DJ bike. What size are BMX axel bolts?
Edit: I see you have ISCG mounts on the frame so adding a chainring bashguard might be a good idea for street riding.
Want to see matty on a trials bike would be good to see that he can incorporate from bmx into it 😁
I want him to double peg a wall or spine. Great riding Matty.
Threaded rod is made of cheese, its not hardened like a conventional threaded steel axle. Good luck!
Keep it up, guys love the channel
Nyquist had pegs on his bike when he was competing in crankworx
Sick. Bro, what if you were to upgrade a mongoose dual suspension frame and create your own custom trail/enduro MTB and hit some black diamond MTB trails to test it out? Paint job and everything? That would be sick. (I'm curious to see how their downhill bike rides)
This was awesome
Nice, Sam Pilgrim did this on his dirt jumper.
he can slam the seat all the way down or trim a little off the seat post to slam it all the way down
I have a buddy that has a dirt jumper with pegs that he rides as his daily
This would have been a lot easier if he tapped the peg to fit the big fat axle.... That's still really cool seeing that huge axle, I bet you could have just grinded on that. 😂😂
Sam Pilgrim did this a while back, its a weird vibe but it works..
LOL love the experimentation guys. Hope to come back to Naples and grind that tricycle one day!
i can barely jump my dirt jumper, and matty is putting pegs on his for fun lol
With as much welding matty has been doing I’m surprised he didn’t just weld the nut to the peg lol
Hey what ever happened to cory? Anyone know??
Matty is the bomb at inventing.. his name should be the inventor.. inventor Matty 😅❤🎉.. a dirt jumper should not be able to ride street but it works.. good job Matt, and good job Scotty for the angle of that last grind you are a good cameraman. 🎉🎉
Y’all think matty will surpass Scotty at some point? I feel like he has the potential to be better than Scotty was before 2016
Definitely not. Scotty was winning silver then gold metals at The Xgames starting at age 18. Prime Scotty was a world-class rider. Matty's awesome, just not quite that good.
The algorithm has been putting old Scotty videos on my feed. I didn't come to his channel until after the accident. Matty is really good, but even in these street and park videos, Scotty was on another level.
No
Sam Pilgrim did this once, you guys should collaborate
Didn’t Ryan Nyquist put pegs on his mtb?
I don't know about that. But Sam Pilgrim tried it. But he's a slopestyle rider. I haven't finished this, but I can't wait to see how a BMX rider handles it.
Nyquist just had rear pegs for rocket tricks! He killed it in crankworx
Im late to the game..but..lock the suspension
Knowing a nut from a bolt isn't everything
sick video but its way cooler when you dont have pegs and do feeble pedals on the dj ;) haha i dont do them anymore because it absolutely destroys the back of the frame
He could print out a hub guard and then take carbon fiber and and resin and wrap it in it
Matt needs a dropper post just for hang fives
Sam pilgrim has run pegs in his dirt jumper a good few times
If you look up one-way Corey from Pennsylvania he puts pigs on mountain bikes
5:49 unless he went pantless
Lock out the suspension.
Weld the allthread into the nut inside the peg so it doesn't loosen off.
❤️👍✌️
He cld at swmp fest
Your seat post is too high!
This was hard to watch😂 calling threaded rod an axle and calling nuts bolts. The threaded rod is going to destroy the inside of the hub. If you wanted to make this legit go to a machine shop and have them make a new through axle that is a little longer to work with the peg
Anything that goes through the hub to hold it in place becomes the axle.
@gogofastful yes, in this use it is an axle but they said they bought an axle, they were referring to it like it is made and sold as an axle. It is threaded rod being used as an axle
A nut isn’t a bolt, just like a bolt isn’t a nut and neither is a length of threaded rod.
It’s cool you made it work even if you didn’t know what to actually call those components on the font wheel.
lets gooo
I love your contents, you are a very good TH-camr, can I get a comment heart?
Needs bmx bars
Matty seems tired of doing this
You seein' it too, huh? Days w/obb I noticed Scott loved telling people what to do and how to do it. Now with his limits, Matty has been the best by allowing Scott to "live through" him. I respect Matt and feel like he needs a break. Peace.
Check out Dylan Stark he does Crank arm grids on full suspension down hill bike. It's sick.
Lock that front suspension out maybe a little better for hang 5s
