@@roonieramshaw929 When I read your comment, I was like, "Wait, what?? ...Nokia Theatre?!" -- There's a Nokia Theatre in Grand Prairie, TX (Dallas County), which is where I had my graduation. After looking it up, turns out it's one of 3 in the country, the other two being in NY and Los Angeles. For a second there I thought this might have been in my own hometown, lol. That would have been interesting.
Not Bob Dylan impressive but composition and technique are impressive. This song and style was heavily influenced from watching Tomo Fujita, an amazing guitarist he met at Berklee. Check him out.
that melbourne one was sick but this one he throws in that baseline into Tom's Diner. Multi-tasking like that, fella could land a plane, cook a 3 course dinner & 3 base muta to 5 hatch hydra at the same time. I just had almost forgotten how awesome he is on acoustic. I haven't seen any of the other guitar "gods" play electric & acoustic at this level.
***** Still trying. heh! Fortunately, i can use my thumb on the fretting hand to do it more precisely. Kind of big hands, not sure if it's good or bad. The claw is complicated, tough to pick some specific strings at the correct time.
it' interesting to notice that the word NEON sounds a lot like the japanese word for Japan (Nihon). So for the audience in Tokyo, the chours was like "Japannnnn Japannnn" so that was definetly a funny coincendce =)
Hate to be that guy, but actually.......... The two words really don't sound that much alike. Neon is pronounced like neeahn, with a short vowel sound, like with the word "on", while Nihon is pronounced like neehone with a long vowel sound. So... the audience probably didn't hear their nation's name in the song at all.
Holy fuck, when he sped it up and still played it like ut was nothing!! Having practiced and tried this for hours really makes you appreciate his skill, cause you know how hard it is.
We are such a global marketplace these days that we are sometimes numb to the phenomenon of one person's music reaching so deeply into people's hearts everywhere! John's fans seem to be just as fervently into him no matter what part of the world he is in. REMARKABLE.......yet so understandable when you listen to the music!
haha, can u believe he recorded neon on a electric guitar? christ i had almost forgotten. Also i think this may rival his live in LA peformance. that solo is def the best hes done for it plus his voice is almost completely back to normal. Hes back
@@whitewalker608 I think the Live in LA one is definitely not 100% authentic, I am not a sound engineer or anything but I can hear there is some kind of effect or pitch correction on his voice( I dont know if im using the right terms but it sounds too perfect to my ears, its not natural)
He may not be the best. (but for me, he is among the best lol ya, I love him for sure) But he is the most interactive one with audience. I have never seen a guitarist taught the audience how he played during concert. lol
can somebody translate the intro please :) i appreciate that
Something like this:
"The first time I came to Tokyo I studied at Kojo High School in Odawara. I had studied japanese." (cheers) ..."- Today I can understand a little bit"

"please wait a moment"

He was out of tempo A LOT of times.
@@whitewalker608 there was no tempo💀.

I love the way how he stops to sing suddenly and gives a tutorial about the song's intro.
He wrote this song at 20. Can you imagine??
His next album will be amazing!!
hell yeah :)
Not Bob Dylan impressive but composition and technique are impressive. This song and style was heavily influenced from watching Tomo Fujita, an amazing guitarist he met at Berklee. Check him out.
George Hetzer I'd say this was as Tomo-influenced as it was Charlie Hunter influenced.
a fuckin talent
That solo's gotta be my favorite one he's ever done
I thought it wasnt one of the most impressive he's done. check out his Melbourne solo or other live ones hes done.

me too. unreal.
Moo
Naa dude.
"Easy shapes"... Yeah, right. Trying to pickup that technique for 2 months now. Damn you with that absurd talent, Mayer.
i have a "lesson" that may help you with the picking pattern. I would really appreciate if you checked it out. :)

i don't think he said easy shapes i think he said these are the shapes he just said it really quick
Nothing this guy does on guitar is easy. Simply phenomenal.
i have a video on the picking technique, check it out if you need help
I don’t know why I felt so at home watching this, he has such a comforting aura, such a powerful one
Literally the same exact feeling I have about his whole being
The guy who shouts "keep studying!" Lol...
Love how he just does a tutorial in the middle of his performance
Haha! "Nobody gets a third verse" ... then goes into the most amazing solo he has ever done. Genius. A virtuoso!
Did you hear tom's diner too?

seems like he had a lot of fun on stage that night. Always great to see

He will sing for you and he will give a guitar tutorial...totally worth going for his shows😄

only the lowE
he has a tuner pedal on the floor

I feel like John recently watched this and then decided to make the end instruction into a tiktok haha
he is so talented and entertaining. He even respects the culture and people who come to see him that he put a little Japanese spin on the songs!
his range is coming back!!!!! yess
What a talent!
There is no words for this. I just shocked 😳
このライブ行きました!最後のギターリフのゆっくりとスピードアップするところがたまらなかったですね😊
This is my favourite version of neon, hands down! Tops everything so far
Holy fuck, when he sped it up and still played it like ut was nothing!!

Hell yes!! His voice is completely back, and he nailed this classic Mayer tune. Thanks for the video. Damn he sounds great! Love this so much.
absolute madman, just casually did the melody of toms diner in his solo part at 5:00-5:15
the funny thing is that it’s also in the song called centuries
最強にかっこいい
He can finally hit the notes in the chorus! He hasn't been able to do that in a while! By the way, anyone notice he didn't sing the second verse?
Hit the notes as in vocally or by the guitar ?
So much respect for JM, you speaking my language and you're my favorite guitarist.
He went into the S. Vega song "Tom's Dinner" for a second during the solo, awesome!

I don’t what it is about this version but that tone of those bass notes especially around 1:57 is surreal
