      Fantastic one! Please make another on the workplace reality and life. As for the ducks in a row - I think it refers to little ducklings that need to obediently line up behind the mother duck before they are ready to march off. :)

    This is my shot at using some of these idioms:
    Since the government raised the pandemic alert to Level 3, Mom has been working from home. She was forced to step out of the comfort zone and think outside the box: how to teach the piano online for the first time. The first problem she was faced with is that some parents of her students didn't believe in distance teaching and decided not to take lessons. Second, she had to turn all the print resources into digital files. Photoing them page by page, it seems like preparing teaching material from scratch. Besides, many of her students stopped having piano lessons, so everything went back to square one without students and income. Nevertheless, she didn't cut corners in the preparation of teaching materials. For every lesson, she would get all her ducks in a row beforehand and dot the i's and cross the t's of her materials. She would also did everything by the book, guiding her students carefully and patiently and registering each lesson as the company required. Hopefully, though her hard work and word of mouth, she and my whole family could get off the ground.
    Wish everyone well!

      To drag Draghi to Franco-forte makes sense etymologically: German "Kasse" just like Italian "cassa", very different from ItaliAn "scatola", the box, in German "Kiste". Caixa to me is some twisted Spanish bank building, slanted tower just like ECB, by the way. "By the way", to Frankfurt from upper Italiy visit the "Kist" on the Autobahn net.

  • @Samrx60
    @Samrx60 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi Adam. None of the etymological origin theories mention “shooting ducks.”
    The most popular theory suggests that "ducks in a row" came from the world of sports, specifically bowling. Early bowling pins were often shorter and thicker than modern pins, which led to the nickname ducks. Before the advent of automatic resetting machines, these "duck pins" would be manually put back into place between bowling rounds. Therefore, having one's ducks in a row would be a metaphor for having all of the bowling pins organized and properly placed before sending the next ball down the lane. Many bowling alleys still offer "duck pin" lanes with smaller bowling balls and shorter pins.
    That said, I think your videos are great!
