well actually thing is that its OCEAN water they cant stand. inklings and octolings have thinner skin than us humans not so thin that they get cut on everything but thin enough to be sensitive to their enviroment. also the ocean waters are most likely polluted from what humans have done and probably have a lower PH level than what is safe for a inkling and octoling. meaning that with salt water thats more acidic than usual and thinner skin makes it so that they die in ocean water. now fresh water they are fine with. and i bet that if its salt water with a PH level at close to if not at the level it was at before pollution they would be perfectly fine.

Not sure that I understand your question. The idols change ink colors during Splatfests. Their Splatfest ink colors correspond with the color of the team they're on. Does that answer your question?
