The funny story about why Indiana Jones just shoots the tall sword swinging guy in the streets was because there was originally going to be a huge sword fight that was scheduled to be filmed. But Harrison Ford got very ill (I believe he had bad diarrhea and was very weak). So instead, someone (I can't remember, but I think it was Ford) suggested that he just shoot the guy instead. As a result, that scene became a classic favorite.
It’s such an instantly iconic scene, the swordsman even ended up being one of the first four action figures that Kenner originally released for the movie. He has the least amount of screen time of the characters who they made action figures for (and far less than several characters who didn’t even have figures, even though they were more significant). I think the second least is the horse. 😄
Indiana Jones movies didn't invent anything, in fact, they were themselves sort of retro-nostalgia products of their time as they were referencing adventure serials from 40 years prior to them. It's just by now these serials are pretty much forgotten, and Indiana Jones' legacy is still very much in modern pop culture.
You asked what happened 10 years ago with Marion? She was 15, he was 25. It lasted 2 years until her father (Indy's mentor) found out. They wisely left it vague in the film, but it was in the screenplay treatments and novelization. It has NOT aged well.
Origin story (speaking in terms of these movies coming out) we found out a bit of Indy's origin story in Last Crusade (flashback scenes of Indy and his father from years before) but if you want more fleshed out, the TV series Young Indiana Jones is a good go to for lore as well.
Ya it was forbidden for regular people to look at the Ark and even Hebrew high priests could only enter the Holy of Holies one a year for a special ceremony. Like you said God let them off the hook because they did their best to observe the custom. That being said Indy did look upon the Ark but they made the distinction of opening the Ark instead of just gazing upon it.
Yes, this is the first one, but we'll have some backstory later! You should DEFINITELY watch the others, at least the next two! The next one, Temple of doom, is a prequel, and the third one, the Last crusade (my personal favorite!) is a sequel.
A Booby is a type of bird, that is kind of slow and stupid, and they have been trapped for eating for thousands of years. It was slang to call a foolish or clumsy person a boob or a booby like the bird back in the day. It kind of meant "Idiot trap".
This is the 1st in the series. #2 is "Temple of Doom" which goes back to an earlier time. #3 is "The Last Crusade" and #4 is "The Crustal Skull." There is also a new one but I haven't seen it. I think it's called "Dial of Destiny." All titles start with "Indiana Jones and ..." They're all fun roller coaster rides.
Temple of Doom is next followed by.... The Last Crusade The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull The Dial of Destiny All really worth a watch if you can keep it to what it is, an enjoyable action adventure film 👍 great reaction as always bro 👊🇬🇧
boobie traps are called that because there is a sea bird called a boobie. sailors used to make a noose and put bait in the middle. when the boobie flew down they would catch the bird. this then became the name of the traps
Hats fell out of use because open air travel switched to car based transportation versus trolleys and trains which were centralized in the cities and townships. They were torn out and replaced by roadways and street lights. Very simple put the earlier transportations created more heavy drafts and breezeways which required people to wear hats and hairpins to keep hair in place, otherwise people looked a mess by the time they got where they were going; more people walked as well, etc. This why people usually wear hats in convertible cars today for example, to prevent hair from getting knotted up because of wind. Hats had their hayday from 1900 to the 1940s and the fendora hat a brief comeback in the 2010s for about six years-at least in the states. lol.
There are currently 5 Indiana Jones movies. Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (that premiered in theaters just last year in 2023) All of these movies star Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones. There was also a TV series about Indiana Jones as well at one point many years ago. I believe the show was called The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles. 📺
@@frankyhorn2475 No no, there was a 4th! Great Circle! Because turns out you don't even have to be an actual movie to be a better indiana jones movie than crystal skull.
The melting Nazi scene will never not be funny. 15:46 Him pulling out a gun to end a machete (?) fight was not in the script. He was urgently in need of the loo and improvised
Watch them all the first 3 especially the last two are not as good but check am out regardless and come to your own conclusion I'll definitely watch the reactions.
I love these movies, always have. The first and third movies are the best, this one and last crusade, and last crusade is arguably the best. I don’t count the other films, honestly to me they seem more like reboots for the sake of money rather than any kind of passion for story telling or the franchise, so in my mind they don’t exist.
In my personal opinion, there are three Indiana Jones movies worth watching, and they are all the odd-numbered ones. Raiders, Last Crusade and Dial of Destiny. Temple and Crystal Skull are there, but honestly not really very good at all.
Can you please react to the movie “Allan Quatermain and the Spear of Destiny”? Sure it doesn’t have the best effects especially when it was made not that long ago but I still think it was a fun watch share I would’ve changed a few stuff but overall I liked it and I think you might.
Only Temple of Doom and The Last Crusade are worthy sequels to watch in my opinion, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is okay-ish but Dial of Destiny was downright bad, so I wouldn't bother with the last two
There are three movies - Raiders of the Lost Ark (original title), Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. No more after that. Oh, you might hear rumors of more movies, but trust me and stop after Last Crusade.
13:17 Sallah (John Rhys-Davies) is your boi Gimli!
Surprised you didn’t notice one of “your boys” John Rhys-Davis plays Sallah and Gimli in Lord of the Rings
Came here to say this!
Seconded
Gimli is covered in prosthetics, a beard and armor. What exactly are you trying to say? Because I might as well look like Gimli.
He was also the voice of Treebeard ..😊😯
@@JoestarEnigma also 20 years between films 😂
Karen Allen also played Scottie Smalls' mom in The Sandlot..."you're killing me, Smalls"...😂😂😂
The going under the truck is a call back to old American westerns where they did the same under horse drawn carriages.
Another old banger, I love that you're giving them a shot! This period in cinema is really something in its own league.

Great reaction! One of the best adventure franchises for the era.
there was a dysentery outbreak among the cast and crew

You will love the sequels, well maybe not the more recent ones but the original 3 are soooooooo good!
Just nearly finished your backlog of content and you posted this WELL looks like I'm not sleeping hehe
36:11 I think God freed Indiana and Marian for respecting the Ark.

Going through all the classics huh? Love it
Love these movies. My fav has always been Last Crusade
One of my favorite movies at the time and I still enjoy watching it. It's one of my repeat movies I go to occasionally.
The second one, Temple of Doom, is my favorite!

When I watched this as a kid I got nightmares for days after that final scene
Yeah the one ghost that goes from a woman to a skeleton scared the crap out of me as a kid. I was terrified of skeletons until I was about 16 😂
