Wayne is a lot more analytical in registering what's being said. Probably because of the experience he has, he knows how to spin technicalities regarding the rules and arguments that witnesses use against him in such a way that he can use the witnesses' own statements against them very well.

@@Quandry1 yeah, but if the check is big enough you can get some witness so say just about anything you want. The downside in this case is that it's a highly televised trial and these witnesses' reputations have gone down the shitter based on how transparently biased they are coming across. I can believe Dr Curry when she says amber is borderline and histrionic because she was able to provide the clinical tests she used the specific pieces of evidence she looked at to explain how she rationally came to those conclusions. Like when she pointed out Amber's reactions to certain medications and lack of reaction to others were part of what led to her diagnosis that was compelling testimony, and the fact that Amber's team had to spend like 5 minutes on muffins made me realize that there wasn't any actual issues with her diagnosis but that they were going to point to external things that are irrelevant. I really don't understand how this doctor came to the conclusion that Depp has a lack of empathy because his disagreed with his doctor on his dosage. That's a huge stretch and isn't a rational conclusion from that fact. It's a consistent problem with Amber's experts that they exactly back up whatever her narrative is and can't provide compelling reasoning for it.

Dennison’s style caused those Heard super brilliant expert witnesses to underestimate him - probably as he intended.
I liked his cross of Hughes on rebuttal too. On Heard’s case in chief he seemed to only want her to say certain things that could be used in closing, but on rebuttal he came in with a hammer and smashed her flat, after the set up by Curry’s testimony.
Dennison was the true unsung hero, since Amber based her damages claim on her “ptsd” that turned out to be plain selfish nastiness (because neither she nor the attorney who filed the counterclaim seemed to understand that damages are about money if you name a money amount. $100 million is a lot of damage!)

Ms Heard had her mental status assessed because she asserted mental distress in her counter claim - thus opening the door to prove that she suffered mental distress. However, Mr. Depp never asserted mental distress in his original claim. Because he never asserted mental distress there was no legal reason of any kind to have him assessed. It wasn't a choice on either side (although perhaps a brilliant choice when they first sued Ms. Heard to purposely leave out "mental distress" just so there was no legal reason to do any kind of assessment on Mr. Depp). Once again his law team outclassing her law team. I am sure she tried to hire every great lawyer in town but none of the reputable ones would take her on - the minute they saw what she brought to them they would have known it was a losing case. Who wants to take on a losing case that will have repercussions to the marketability of your law firm and bring down your reputation.

The court denied it, not Johnny's team. They asked for it twice, the court said "Nope".
It's because Johnny wasn't claiming to be emotionally damaged by the relationship, whereas she was. There was no need for Johnny to be forensically evaluated. Also, Johnny allowed his own treating psychiatrist to be deposed, so that provided the records of what his mental state was during the relationship. I think both sides waived their medical privacy rights to allow medical records to come in.
Depp's side didn't even need to argue it, but if they had needed to, they'd have had a good argument that these things were already in evidence. They could also have pointed out that the psychiatrist who treated Johnny at the time had no reason to make him look worse or better back then so it could be pretty unbiased, rather than Johnny trying to make himself look a certain way for an evaluation he knew would be used in court.

I don't think Amber's team even talked to this guy before putting him on the stand

I believe someone posted info that it was amber heard's team mistake to bring this odd dude. There were few docs with the same name and they brought wrong one to court, not the one they wanted first. It was too late to change that.

Can you imagine having never met your own expert witness and realizing 5 minutes in your case hinges on this guy? 😂😂😂

Great strategy by Johnnys attorney to allow this guy, with his objectively crazed affect, to just keep talking. He let this witness enthusiastically bury himself! Speigel loves to talk, and the more he did, the deeper he dug his own grave. Two thumbs up for the Depp legal team!

Totally agree and I also think he likes "being right" more than anything. Everytime this doctor felt his opinion was "wrong" he dug himself a bigger whole. I watch a lot of trials and I have never see a witness quite like this. WILD
