I imagine after Missy regenerated, the Master went to Gallifrey planning to start fresh. Maybe even to help the Doctor. Then he found something that broke him.
that's for sure one way I can see it happening! There's also the idea that Sacha's Master isn't right after Missy, could be many regenerations later, allowing for the things to go south again. OR, that Sacha's Master is actually before Missy. Or even that they are the same Master, split in 2, one totally evil, and one with goodness. That after Simms regenerated, either into Missy, or into Sacha, or another unknown version, they returned to Gallifrey and found out about the Timeless Child, and it caused them to be so enraged, that the Master rid themselves of any remaining good, and as a result, split into two beings, Sacha's Master (completely evil), and Missy (somewhat good). It probably sounds stupid, but I think it makes sense.
Chrystalis Revival actually Missy’s regeneration became good and spent her life foiling the Master’s plans, until eventually Missy killed her regeneration, turning into Sacha’s Master
I agree. I love the quote from Capaldi's doctor, explaining how the timelords don't need or worry about genders. They love eachother for who they are. Like everyone should.
I never ship the doctor and the master before. 13 and the master chemistry just fantastic I like the pain in their eyes I would like to see their relationship grow.
the fact that the Doctor wants to try to help the Master no matter how much damage they have done over the year the Doctor will never give up on The Master. Shows how much their friendship matters to The Doctor.
True. But to be fair, it'd be like how you'd help your friend even after a bad day... the doctor and the master have spent thousands of years being friends... even tho they're sometimes on opposite sides. They're always the one person that the other can rely on. Especially for the doctor, imagine how many people they've lost, and the master always comes back for them.
i felt the chemistry between 13 and dhawan!master and now i really want to scourge for more doctor and master stuff because damn they got emotional baggage and secret yearning for the other to join them and just---- OH YES
I kind of think that the master didn't destory The time Lords because he was lied to, I think he did it because of the Doctor because of the torture the doctor was subjected to but he knew the doctor would blame herself if he revealed the truth so he lied, he said he destroyed gallifrey because he was lied to. His destroying gallifrey was basically his love letter to the Doctor.
(Copy-pasting my other comment so I don't have to retype it all): this is honestly my favourite headcanon too. i honestly think it wasn't a case of the master feeling abandoned (well, at least not fully) but that the spymaster genuinely tried so hard to be good, they went back to their home planet in an effort to reconnect with who they once were, but when they were just (semi-)innocently exploring the matrix and their history with the doctor he noticed something was off. then he learned that their culture (and all the pride he had in his heritage) was built on the torture and repeated murders of their best enemy and went apeshit, and knew there was no coming back from that - at least not in the eyes of the very person he did all of it for - so why not embrace their actions? (either that or the spymaster is the third master, or at least one of the earlier versions, which is why missy says "i knew him since he was a little girl")
Missy deserved so much better because she really was trying and as much as I love 13 and the O Master's chemistry the fact they confirmed off screen that hes post Missy is heartbreaking. All that development wiped away instead of being built upon
The Master is a very complex character, he was never going to be just good, the same with the Doctor, there are incarnations like Jodie and Davison who are happy go lucky sometimes and then there are those like Capaldi and the two Bakers, who are borderline crazy and seriously, sometimes very silly. That's what we have to understand, no one characteristic is going to stick when it comes to a Timelord, even within the same incarnation, so I wouldn't be surprised if by the end of Series 13, the 13th Doctor is all serious, filled with rage and murderous, especially with the twists and turns they are promising this season, it's all very much still within character, that's who the doctor is, fun, crazy, happy, silly, angry, serious, scary, fuelled by rage, all of it is the Doctor, and at any stage in their lives, they will portray all these different sides, so I feel sorry for the people who might feel that Jodie is not a good Doctor, because she is and her storylines have just added to the richness of the show, and as someone who has been watching the show for over 40yrs, I'm glad that she is The Doctor and I'm sure she still has a great deal to show us. I'm grateful to her and to Chris, because they are people not afraid to take risks, even with the disapproval of many and that is something I will always respect and cherish. I respect everyone's opinion but some are just in denial of the fact that they're biased over everything in this era, so they hide behind accusations of bad writing and whatnot, but that's not the case, there are worse episodes in all of who history than most of what Chibnall has done and we know it, worse decisions were made in previous eras that most people choose not to see, than there are in this current era. Nothing is ever going to be perfect in Doctor Who that's part of the reason why I love it and trust me when I say that this show wouldn't have survived this long if it didn't have people like Chibnall who are willing to take risks, he's a great writer, I don't care what anyone else says, and as a fellow writer, I know all the struggles that go into all of that. I look forward to what comes next, and no matter what, I'll always love this show
This is quite a remarkable tribute to these life-long frenemies. Reminds me a lot of Margarita's Life "Stand With Me". With Chibnall, his inclusion of one of the most powerful scenes of Doctor Who ever, the unshot scene of "P.S.", gives me high hopes that we'll see even more of the ever evolving complexities in the O-Master & 13 relationship going into series 13. I've also had a personal head canon, forever, that I think they were lovers at one point. That's why they can't get over each other.
Thank you so much. I love that edit, and the channel. Also, they could have been lovers at one point. Although, I recon that they are just really good friends. And don't have labels for each other. They aren't, best friends, or enemies. They are just the doctor and the master. They'll be there when the other is in danger, and they will be there when the other needs them.
All the actors who've played the Master have been top notch. It's close, and I think Simm and Darwan are excellent, but IMO Gomez just takes it to another level
Oh I love Missy all the progress she made only to get shot by herself (himself?), she would have stood with the Doctor and that would have been beautiful. But the Doctor doesn't know, she was coming back for him.
Thank you. And me too. They've been through so much. And at the end of the day, if one of them desperately needs saving, the other one will be there for them. That's what I love about them!!
