If you find that he didn't get pressured after using braver (after his spin swipe), it should be noted that you have to use two bravers from the get go to get him pressured. I've read some comments saying they made this pooch harder to pressure after the 1.03 patch update. It is partially true, but they kinda made him easier at the same time, let me explain. Instead of waiting for his spin swipe attack and use braver, now you just simply punisher block/counter any of his attacks back to back. You can see it here th-cam.com/video/jqjigNQ3YjU/w-d-xo.html at the 31 second mark. So you can save your ATB for focused thrust to fill his stagger bar more quickly. idk if I need to make an updated video just to explain this but you guys can let me know. Give this comment maybe 50 likes? That'll let me know if you guys really want me to make a new video about this wolf. Love you all much much!
Posting this as of today and I'm still thinking it's in the 1.03 patch update at this point but I have fought this dog about 10 times today using various ways of trying to pressure him and he seems to be literally unpressurable. I blocked, immune block mind you, every swipe of his and spin swipe in one round and never pressured him with the damage I did afterwards or before the creature used it again. I got the stagger bar up pretty fast, however, but still fell victim to the howl because he refused to be pressured. Keep in mind this also was upon using berserk, which increases the damage dealt to the creature but I'll run some without using it and see if that pressures him instead.
Good explanation. It should be said that, if it's unavoidable, and you see that he is glowing red, and there is no avoiding it, just run away from him as much as you can, and keep running until he casts it. Then you have two options: Safer: Just block everything. As long as you don't get the initial explosion close to him, and you're pretty far, it should not hurt you so much Less safe, but ime, it works most of the times: Is you're really far, just run in a big circle around him and spam dodge. You should be able to avoid 100% of his attacks.
Swiftcast Thundaga is also a great way to knock him down a peg. Block his attacks in Punisher until you have two ATBs, wait for him to start his power up animation, and then zap him back down to size. Link a second Lightning materia to MP Absorb and you won't even need to worry about running out of mana. Thundaga also helps with a number of other opponents in Cloud's gauntlet, and it cannot miss, unlike Braver (though Braver looks cooler when you do it right 😂)
That sounds like a very good mage build. I prefer glass cannon but thanks for tip! I hope others can take an example out of that and implement it in their build.
I did the swiftcast thundaga earlier today along with plasma discharge hp absorb . Doggy had no chance it’s actually one of the quicker battles after that
Using Braver after blocking really came in handy. I just beat it on HM Simulated Battle Gongaga Level 2 where you have to fight White Terror and the Gunner Robot. I used Cloud, Barret, & Aerith.
Me watching this post clearing Clouds solo run 🙂 haha great tips on this. I relied heavily on punisher mode and steadfast block materia to make sure I can heal myself after earsplitting howl. This enemy is a huge pain in the ass on first attempt
punisher mode really trivialize this whole fight. initially, i thought this enemy is bugged cuz it's constantly cast earsplitting move no matter what i did to him
@@th3mush I tried using Counter Stance against it which was somewhat effective until he ran up to my face, stopped and exploded while I was in counter stance animation LOL
@ISoundMasterBlasterI i tried that too! But this pooch just tanked the counterstance explosion like its nothing. I thought it would be more effective than punisher mode
I cast stop when pressured. Then berzerk to do more DMG when staggered. Also if you cast sleep on it, it resets its build up, also I use prime mode. When staggered, use braver
You can also cast sleep and slow/stop on it repeatedly… fighting this and the white mousee in coliseum sucked and that’s what I did was hit it with sleep and slow/stop
It’s okay, you’re good. I like that everyone is giving tips on how to deal with this doggy based on their personal experience. We can help better each other!
It’s a bitch but a life saver for me to get past it was stop and atb boost to set up powerful magic like quake magnify on arcane ward w comet synergy attached. You can use stop up to 3 times in the fight to get you out of bad situations or if you need to emergency heal or dispel his buffs
I kinda think of this monster as similar to Odin. It’s difficultly largely depends on your skill level in game. If you’re good it’s not much of an issue, but if you’re bad you’re in for a rough time.
Odin is far easier imo. Odin respects the 'beat my ass and I won't end you' rule. The white terror laughs as he says that and then one shots your whole team
I did encounter several comments saying this. In the new 1.030 update, you need to use two bravers consecutively on him which is pretty hard to pull off considering he always runs away after the first one. But on the other hand, two punisher counters are enough to get him pressured now. You can look at how i pulled it off in my latest video on the channel. Hope this helps! 😉
I spent 30 minutes fighting this mofo before I found this video. I beat him, but I was ready to go back and embarrass him after learning about how to consistently and easily pressure him. Seems it was patched out. Cowards... Still appreciate you making this loser look like a joke. FYI for anyone else looking for more advice: if you find it tough to anticipate Earsplitting Howl, don't forget about Cloud's Counterstrike ability. You'll still take damage, but not enough to kill you if you keep your HP above 2000-2500. As for those fireballs, I found the timing works out that you can block after Counterstrike lands or parry it entirely if you can time it right (I felt like a GOD when I did it). If you go the blocking path, be ready to either block or parry his follow-up normal attack. That can kill you if your HP is really low. Thanks again for the video @th3Mush. You got a sub from me.
Thank you for the sub! As for the wolf after the update, i found him easier to pressure, just needed two punisher blocks whereas previously the pressure state only comes after using atb skills. I have that captured on my latest vid, decimated him in less than 30secs i think
Nice video. Very informative. However i have slipstream weapon on with mana regen, and trade off, with gemerrong accessory. To stop his homing attack, i use swiftcast with barrier. I cast manaward whenever im out and just block those homing missles. Its only 300hp per hit. Then i spam stop with normal attack and focus thrust. You can stagger him so fast and drain his hp fast enough. (Don't worry about mana. This challenge hits u hard enough so u won't run out mana) I can kill this guy in less than 2 minutes. + limit break. Good luck!
As long as we’re being aggresive, any method works. I just emphasized on the mechanics as simple as possible. But hey, I’ve tried ur method and it works amazing! Hope others implement them in their build too.
@th3mush nono, your strategy is very good. I learned a lot from this, but I like spamming buttons, so i adjust it just a bit. I still kept most of your build. Your explanation is useful, and in case others might play differently, they can use this info too. Keep up the good work! 👍
