Totally agree on your take and especially the Trick or Treat label! Although I still had a large jar I was planning to buy a 3 wick this year. BUT...when I saw the label I was so dissappointed! The original T or T label is so iconic and evokes all the memories of childhood - especially when combined with the unique scent of that candle! What a huge, HUGE fail. I didnt buy it and won't. Also...we too got a weather break in Texas! Totally know what you mean about the gift of cooler weather in August! Enjoy! This summer has been brutal. I kept saying this on Instagram and then would always get attacked by his supporters or friends. No one cared to look past anything other than liking the labels just because he made them. It's great having you as a voice for these!
I'm sure you know, we live in a very cancel culture society nowadays. People dont like when someone has a strong opinion on something. Most of the people complaining about what I've said (and I'm not referring to anyone who disagrees with me) have no interest in Goose Creek and are basically just sticking up for the people I mentioned in the video because they like them. Nothing more, nothing less.
I'm left a little speechless; I only recently discovered your channel & was enjoying the reviews. Ken, The Candle Channel, explains the impetus for each G.C. candle label on his channel. *Trick or Treat* is my favorite of his labels! Absolutely Darling! His collection reminds me a bit of nostalgic, vintage holiday cards, 1940s, 1950s. You can see similar in antique stores of vintage holiday cards. Yes, I agree the original label is iconic, but the new one is darling also. I've watched Ken for a long time, and he is honest (even now with Goose Creek) about sooting, bad scents, weak throw etc. I'm not a G.C super fan; I'm BBW, HW & Kringle with the occasional GC candle. I take the ambassadors with a grain of salt & try to read between the lines.
P.S. Do you know or have you watched the classic movie "Meet Me in St. Louis"? The *Trick or Treat* label reminds me of the Halloween scene in that movie. Spooky night, black cat, vintage pumpkins, children clad in home-made costumes. Your neighbor in Texas! ;-))
Love hearing differing opinions and that's what makes a topic like this so polarizing. GC is a candle company that has been around for many years and the large channels are very aware of them, but we dont see them give Goose Creek attention until old reliable PR makes its way through the door. I'd love to believe there's an actual genuine interest here, but I dont see it.
But I do love the carved pumpkin labels for sure. Personally, I would have gone with a tri-layered candy corn label in that style instead, but still very well done.
I agree with susani. I think Kent’s designs are spectacular - the jack o lanterns in particular but just as much Trick or Treat. Adorable. I’m thrilled to see YT influencers have strong influences on the candle companies and what better way than designing labels or scents (Philly Candle Man and Mr Kings Mom)?
When I first saw the labels I just assumed they were copying Bath and Body Works. They could have really made a gorgeous update to the labels of Trick or Treat and Witches Cauldron using the old, iconic labels. They could have done the full original images without the plain coloring at the bottom of the old 3 wick label and wrapped it around the entire candle. That would have been gorgeous!!
Exactly! Give them an update, a little refresher, maybe a tweak here or there. But this wholesale change just to simply sweeten the pot for a large influencer is terrible.
Goose Creek customer service sent my large order to the wrong address over a month ago and refuses to resend my candles or refund my money. I’ve never had such terrible customer service in my life. Please buy from other business!!! Thank you for your honest reviews!! Ann Marie Robinson
You've always been a straight shooter and I've always respected that, Kevin. Personally, I enjoyed my 2.5 year run creating IG content and engaging with (most) of the candle community but I've been much happier and less impulsive not being an ambassador and not reviewing candles in general. I prefer just watching videos and commenting as I see fit; ppl cant handle opinions and objectivity. There's a preference to groupthink and cult like mentality that I've never fit into. I try with Goose Creek, but they just aren't my jam, and that's okay 🤗 your commentary on your videos is what sets you apart from the flat/standard review model that is the majority today. Kudos!

Making my order today to get the licorice cause i must cause i love licorice. From what i hear most people get good and plenty. I hope i do too. I did pick up black magic from homegoods but omg its just so light cold. Ive burned so many HW candles and i just literally can never get a throw from them. It makes me so frustrated! I do like these labels luckily. I do like the literal packaging as well but i enjoy something more conceptual as well. Though trick or treat i would have liked with the kids on it.. Idk if kent even knew that was the famous label. Gc should have told him about this! Thank you for your review as always ❤️
Oh no, sounds like they might have messed with the oils on Black Magic! It was a huge thrower back when it was first released. That makes me sad to hear it's possibly been tweaked.

I’m a new subscriber and ran across this video.... I know who you’re talking about and yes he always used to bash GC, actually called them “soot Creek”. Hahaha. GC knew he bashed them and then contacted him, sent him a lot of free candles because they claimed they improved their candles. Then they did hire him to design some candle labels. But not the Halloween ones. His designs are the Fall ones that look like sweater prints with gold leaves on them. They are actually beautiful. I haven’t purchased from GC for a long time. I just wanna say that he also bashes BBW for all of their repackages I just love candles and like to get a variety of opinions on them. ❤✌🏼👍🏼✅
Yep, GC is nothing if they're not PR savy. Get the ones that dont like you on their side by sending free stuff and maybe even sweetening the pot a little more if that's what it takes.
DUA fragrance has a scent called frost bitten cupcake. It reminds me of the Italian cookies we make for Christmas. I was so hoping the licorice candle would smell the same 😔
I will say that im pretty new to gc and all candles really only been buying for about 2 yrs... Last fall was my first fall w candles... So i dont really know back stories on any thing. Havent been watching reviewers for that long either. So that being said i really like the labels for this yrs halloween at gc... I only bought the pumpkin carving and bought several back ups. I was gonna buy trick or treat but i still have 3 from last yr. I dont buy candles just for the label but i almost did this yr. I decided not to because ive bought soooo many candles i just cant afford it to be honest. I only can buy what im gonna burn. I might pick up a couple on a sale tho. I can see tho that certain labels are classic and ppl really like them to stay the same. But i do like to see things get updated and maybe its ok to do a yr of something new and diffrent. Thats just my opinion tho. Im someone that rearranges my house every other month lol anyway i do like when reviewers give their honest opinion tho. Thank you for doing that!
Oh yes, definitely agree with you. They've done a good job this year and last year with updating things and bringing a new feel here or there. Cant make a huge overhaul on such a classic label without getting a little push back. But they want this guy talking about their candles and focusing on them, so I guess you gotta give him what he wants.
I have also seen it There was also a lady that talked highly of Homeworx and talked way down about KRINGLE. Now she’s an ambassador with KRINGLE and she’s dissing Homeworks 90% of the time.
Yep, the PR bias is very real. It feels like so long ago now since we could actually get on TH-cam and watch people talk about candles that they paid for.
The design was made by a big BBW fan and the influence shows. One theme or idea - spooky gothic wallpaper and spooky elements pop out of the sides of the label text box. Yet no real Halloween staples on Halloween candles. The ToT kids are gone, no spooky trees, no haunted houses, no cemetery landscape. IMO 4 could be like that but 8 was just using one idea too much. Witches Cauldron and ToT esp. deserved their own individual designs. The jack-o-lantern are nicely done. The 8 are an upgrade from most the GC of last year with the Halloween wrapping paper look.
I actually love Goose Creek Candles. They have more bakery type scents. Bath and body works have been disappointing me the past few years with their candles. No bakery / gourmand candles much. Also, Goose Creek pricing is much better.
Yep, we've never seen it go this far until now. The guy that used to run the HomeWorx group wanted to work for them and was denied. Goose Creek was apparently willing to buy his affection and attention, and that reeks of collusion.

Great question, and it’s one I don’t have an answer to. But as far as this specific reviewer goes, HomeWorx used to REALLY sweeten the pot for him, and I’m not just talking about PR candles, either

I agree with your thoughts on licorice. One of my early memories was smelling my Mom’s black licorice candle in October. That and candy corn just give me Halloween vibes.
It's interesting how most of the opinions that differ have to do with what they think about the labels in general that he made. No push back on what I said about true, genuine, authentic interest in Goose Creek candles. And honestly, that's not up for debate.
I just discovered GC last Christmas and became a AVID buyer this past spring. I’m still on a GC high as of now! I’m bummed I couldn’t get those amazing labels they had last year!! Love your channel and reviews!
I totally agree! It wasn't that long ago when he referred to GC candles as trash, among other things, n now he's working for them! Like, wat?? I'll admit, at first the labels looked gorgeous on the website but when I opened my box of ALL the Halloween candles, yes I purchased all of them, I was so disappointed! Not only do they not go along with the fragrances, they are all Way Too Dark! Ur totally right! Nothing pops n there just way too dark n the ones we got last year, they didn't need to be changed, I totally agree! I went again n looked on the website n I was like wat happened here! They look much better on the website! N yea, Kent from the Candle Channel designed these labels n he totally missed the mark on them! They are pretty labels, but they do not match the fragrances at all! But when u get "Free" candles from a company, just like Bonnie does, ur not gonna rag on them, especially on TH-cam! People don't realize, these people are getting free candles n Kent is being paid now to design labels, so there gonna be biased! I don't care wat they say on their channel, it's business, not friendship n that's just how it is! Like with the new Little Debbie candles, I got 8 of those too, n they Do Not smell authentic to wat there supposed to! I was so disappointed in those too! I know GC is famous for repackages but from wat it says on their website, that they were supposed to be Ultra- Realistic, I thought they would be new scents n of course there not! But to hear everybody on TH-cam say it, these candles are all perfect! It's just aggravating! I think I'm done for awhile with GC n I think the collab with Kent is total crap! I started with GC last year n I have almost every candle they make, so I think I'm good! I have also stopped buying Homeworx cause all their problems with no throw n the same with Kringle, don't get me started! I have to take a break as well n it is disappointing wat all is goin on right now! I have left a few comments that I'm surprised haven't been erased cause I just wanna help people n tell the truth! I have spent a lot of money on all these brands n if I can save people from wasting their money then I will try! I have had a couple people thank me for being honest n I'm so happy I was able to help them! That's why I'm so glad u did this video! Very true! We would see the occasional haul from him and that means maybe one haul a season? But now he's featuring them on his channel and that always makes me ask questions when such a big change happens like that. Another large social media presence bought and paid for... pretty simple to see, not sure why some people would rather explain it away instead of just opening their eyes and admitting to what's taking place right in front of them.
I still think GC has some of the best and most authentic fragrances. Much better than the generic and redundant BBWs fragrances IMO, but I started losing interest when they began phasing out the 2 wick large jars. I wish they’d bring them back.

Very rarely nowadays, but they’re pretty hit or miss. They used to have a very soft wax wax melt formula that threw so well, but they switched to the hard wax a few years ago and it hasn’t been the same strength since then
@@Inenell thank you. I’ve purchased only one, apple glazed donut, & I really like it…but not sure on purchasing others. I can say the wax is softer than the wax melts I’ve purchased at Walmart. 😂
Another comment Kevin. I did mention in a video of mine that the labels were a victorian goth but I mentioned BBW vibes.. I get on the PR ppl too. Its not getting free stuff its not reviewing the candle. They lift lids take a sniff and love everything! Nobody loves everything. Ppl comment to me all the time that trust in reviewers has dropped. I love GC. I have been with them only 4 years but I buy from them more than any others.
I think people are completely over PR by now. Especially if you’ve been around for awhile. What’s most ironic about that, is The Candle Channel and his past rants on all brand PR is probably a large reason for that lol 😆

I was very selective on my haul. I did make one more order for t GG e little Debbie came out and I really wanted Oatmeal cream pie. YC did an oatmeal cookie maybe 29 years ago. So I had to give it a try.I am going to wait now until Holiday from BBW. I still have my Black Magic from YC of which is amazing.
That screen grab, tho! 😂 Let me preface this by saying that I did buy both Trick or Treat and Candy Corn this year and I totally agree about the Trick or Treat label. What even is going on there?! It's got almost Victorian-era graphics (which I love, btw) but to layer it on that background...I don't get it! And, while I'm at it, I'm not really a fan of the Candy Corn label. I mean...what is it: a white pumpkin/jack-o-lantern, a ghost or a vampire?! 😆 I don't mean to be ugly but good grief... 🤷🏼♀
Ahh Victorian is exactly what comes to mind, but that style + the fragrances dont match up at all, so I completely agree! And you're not being ugly whatsoever. The artist had an idea in mind with no real regard for the fit and that makes the collection look sloppy
I mean, I dig GC. They have some amazing candles and their unique scents got me into deep-diving into smaller independent candle companies. I'd say they were my gateway and I've been burning candles for years. BBW has always been whatever to me but I'll agree that the comparisons are far too many and tired. I'm not getting free stuff from anyone yet but even when I eventually do, the buck stops with the reviewer's moral compass whether they pander. I don't have a problem with a company wanting their stuff reviewed by people with major traffic, wanting those reviewers especially to give a thumbs up and trying to figure out how to cultivate a positive relationship. That's just good business. GC still makes pretty rad products (though I've got my issues with them which I'll get into on my channel at some point). Anyway, this is the long way around for me to say that the personal responsibility is 100% on the reviewer and it's about THEIR integrity, if they have any? That's the very reason I subscribed to your channel and am commenting bc there's no BS filter with you and I highly appreciate that, regardless if I agree. Lastly, as I embark on filming my first reviews, just have to say that I've never been big on "community" except in the general true sense of the word. I feel like the term has become a misnomer for "the cool kids club", the home of toxic fandom and stupid BS. Anyway dude, sorry for the novel. Enjoying your channel!

I just didn't care. I couldn't even try to care lol. I started doing my own thing, liking what I liked without a filter, etc. Honestly, and obviously, at times it made life tough socially during formative years but it has served me incredibly well.

I totally agree about the disappointing Trick or Treat label. This is the only candle that I wanted from this collection, and I loved their iconic label. This label is very cheese and not anyhow reminiscent of Trick or Treating
TBH, on Trick or Treat the Ghost looks like it is doing a Saturday Night Fever poster Travolta imitation and the jack-o-lantern has one eye and half the mouth covered. Regardless of the previous label it could have been done better.
Longtime Goose Creek candle burner and I agree with everything you said here. Put the candle channel on other halloween labels and leave the classics alone. I hate the new style which he referred to as victorian halloween? That's just a fancy word for old lady in the 1800's really. I know what you mean about people being haters of certain brands and then when an exchange of $$$ takes place they have nothing but good things to say. I'm not even talking candle community but all different groups on here. I use to watch a lot of beauty you tubers and phew the a** kissing there when they get a box of PR items that cost over 5k. But when they started I'm just a simple girl I don't need a lot of things! When I placed my goose creek order of wax melts I threw in a couple of the single wick candles. I started burning maple butter on the weekends its doing ok but I'm not super invested and it was like $5 so I can deal with it.

Hello Kevin. Love your videos. I love black licorice, and I've asked before, but would you please consider doing an in-depth video of all the black licorice candles you've owned? Also, did you ever try Graveyard Fog from Colonial Candle? Along with Homeworx Black Magic (they smell almost identical), It is one of my all-time black licorice-scented candles.
Oh yes, I remember now! I definitely will touch on that going forward. It’s not a real extensive list with companies a little leery of going that route, but I will offer my Top 5 in a video this fall!
@@Inenell Thank you! I'm always on the hunt for black licorice candles. I did order all of Goose Creek Halloween (as I do every year) minus Creepy Critters (ordered it once and that was enough). I'm my opinion, their best Halloween release was in 2021. I miss the large jar and the gold embossed lids.
Every single word rings true to my thoughts exactly. No one cared about GC until they were given them for free. People need to go back and watch old haul videos from these so-called fans of the company and see how drastic their tone is towards them.

Certainly. And he can claim honesty until he's blue in the face, but you absolutely want your product to sell. And when he refers to himself and Goose Creek as one, it's now his product too when he has a hand in the creative process.
I doubt you’re interested, but it seems they should’ve picked you to receive free candles. You actually like the company. I’ll be honest, I’ve purchased some great candles from them, but I’ve just as equally purchased some really stinky ones. It’s hard buying blindly online & it makes me mad to waste money like that. I’ve found their customer service lacking too. I may be done with them. I’ve heard Walmart will be carrying holiday scents of theirs tho…so I am really looking forward to that. I hope they do a peppermint one.

I also just received a big GC Halloween haul and I have to admit I'm disappointed with the labels. They look more mall goth than Halloween to me. The jack-o-lantern labels are fine but the others just don't give me the Halloween vibe I'm looking for. I have bought from GC in previous years and really loved the packaging of past years. I agree with you. Why would someone start receiving PR when they completely bashed GC... It makes zero sense to me. The world we live in now sums it up! I refuse to buy GC and haven't since the fiasco ( to put it lightly) in one of the candle groups years back.

Making my order today to get the licorice cause i must cause i love licorice. From what i hear most people get good and plenty. I hope i do too. I did pick up black magic from homegoods but omg its just so light cold. Ive burned so many HW candles and i just literally can never get a throw from them. It makes me so frustrated! I do like these labels luckily. I do like the literal packaging as well but i enjoy something more conceptual as well. Though trick or treat i would have liked with the kids on it.. Idk if kent even knew that was the famous label. Gc should have told him about this!

Oh no, sounds like they might have messed with the oils on Black Magic! It was a huge thrower back when it was first released. That makes me sad to hear it's possibly been tweaked.

I think the old Trick or Treat label was perfect! But I notice a sweeter note in my 3 Witches Cauldrons I got this year compared to older ones I have.
Would be a crime if they altered the fragrance too

I’m a new subscriber and ran across this video.... I know who you’re talking about and yes he always used to bash GC, actually called them “soot Creek”. Hahaha. GC knew he bashed them and then contacted him, sent him a lot of free candles because they claimed they improved their candles. Then they did hire him to design some candle labels. But not the Halloween ones. His designs are the Fall ones that look like sweater prints with gold leaves on them. They are actually beautiful. I haven’t purchased from GC for a long time. I just wanna say that he also bashes BBW for all of their repackages I just love candles and like to get a variety of opinions on them. ❤✌🏼👍🏼✅
Yep, GC is nothing if they're not PR savy. Get the ones that dont like you on their side by sending free stuff and maybe even sweetening the pot a little more if that's what it takes.
To fix the mirroring on your iPhone, go to Settings>Camera>Mirror Front Camera and toggle that off. Hope that helps.

DUA fragrance has a scent called frost bitten cupcake. It reminds me of the Italian cookies we make for Christmas. I was so hoping the licorice candle would smell the same 😔

I will say that im pretty new to gc and all candles really only been buying for about 2 yrs... Last fall was my first fall w candles... So i dont really know back stories on any thing. Havent been watching reviewers for that long either. So that being said i really like the labels for this yrs halloween at gc... I only bought the pumpkin carving and bought several back ups. I was gonna buy trick or treat but i still have 3 from last yr. I dont buy candles just for the label but i almost did this yr. I decided not to because ive bought soooo many candles i just cant afford it to be honest. I only can buy what im gonna burn. I might pick up a couple on a sale tho. I can see tho that certain labels are classic and ppl really like them to stay the same. But i do like to see things get updated and maybe its ok to do a yr of something new and diffrent. Thats just my opinion tho. Im someone that rearranges my house every other month lol anyway i do like when reviewers give their honest opinion tho. Thank you for doing that!
Oh yes, definitely agree with you. They've done a good job this year and last year with updating things and bringing a new feel here or there. Cant make a huge overhaul on such a classic label without getting a little push back. But they want this guy talking about their candles and focusing on them, so I guess you gotta give him what he wants.
I have also seen it There was also a lady that talked highly of Homeworx and talked way down about KRINGLE. Now she’s an ambassador with KRINGLE and she’s dissing Homeworks 90% of the time.
Yep, the PR bias is very real. It feels like so long ago now since we could actually get on TH-cam and watch people talk about candles that they paid for.
The design was made by a big BBW fan and the influence shows. One theme or idea - spooky gothic wallpaper and spooky elements pop out of the sides of the label text box. Yet no real Halloween staples on Halloween candles. The ToT kids are gone, no spooky trees, no haunted houses, no cemetery landscape. IMO 4 could be like that but 8 was just using one idea too much. Witches Cauldron and ToT esp. deserved their own individual designs. The jack-o-lantern are nicely done. The 8 are an upgrade from most the GC of last year with the Halloween wrapping paper look.

I actually love Goose Creek Candles. They have more bakery type scents. Bath and body works have been disappointing me the past few years with their candles. No bakery / gourmand candles much. Also, Goose Creek pricing is much better.

Yep, we've never seen it go this far until now. The guy that used to run the HomeWorx group wanted to work for them and was denied. Goose Creek was apparently willing to buy his affection and attention, and that reeks of collusion.

Great question, and it’s one I don’t have an answer to. But as far as this specific reviewer goes, HomeWorx used to REALLY sweeten the pot for him, and I’m not just talking about PR candles, either

I agree with your thoughts on licorice. One of my early memories was smelling my Mom’s black licorice candle in October. That and candy corn just give me Halloween vibes.

It's interesting how most of the opinions that differ have to do with what they think about the labels in general that he made. No push back on what I said about true, genuine, authentic interest in Goose Creek candles. And honestly, that's not up for debate.
I just discovered GC last Christmas and became a AVID buyer this past spring. I’m still on a GC high as of now! I’m bummed I couldn’t get those amazing labels they had last year!! Love your channel and reviews!

I totally agree! It wasn't that long ago when he referred to GC candles as trash, among other things, n now he's working for them! Like, wat?? I'll admit, at first the labels looked gorgeous on the website but when I opened my box of ALL the Halloween candles, yes I purchased all of them, I was so disappointed! Not only do they not go along with the fragrances, they are all Way Too Dark! Ur totally right! Nothing pops n there just way too dark n the ones we got last year, they didn't need to be changed, I totally agree! I went again n looked on the website n I was like wat happened here! They look much better on the website! N yea, Kent from the Candle Channel designed these labels n he totally missed the mark on them! They are pretty labels, but they do not match the fragrances at all! But when u get "Free" candles from a company, just like Bonnie does, ur not gonna rag on them, especially on TH-cam! People don't realize, these people are getting free candles n Kent is being paid now to design labels, so there gonna be biased! I don't care wat they say on their channel, it's business, not friendship n that's just how it is! Like with the new Little Debbie candles, I got 8 of those too, n they Do Not smell authentic to wat there supposed to! I was so disappointed in those too! I know GC is famous for repackages but from wat it says on their website, that they were supposed to be Ultra- Realistic, I thought they would be new scents n of course there not! But to hear everybody on TH-cam say it, these candles are all perfect! It's just aggravating! I think I'm done for awhile with GC n I think the collab with Kent is total crap! I started with GC last year n I have almost every candle they make, so I think I'm good! I have also stopped buying Homeworx cause all their problems with no throw n the same with Kringle, don't get me started! I have to take a break as well n it is disappointing wat all is goin on right now! I have left a few comments that I'm surprised haven't been erased cause I just wanna help people n tell the truth! I have spent a lot of money on all these brands n if I can save people from wasting their money then I will try! I have had a couple people thank me for being honest n I'm so happy I was able to help them! That's why I'm so glad u did this video! Very true! We would see the occasional haul from him and that means maybe one haul a season? But now he's featuring them on his channel and that always makes me ask questions when such a big change happens like that. Another large social media presence bought and paid for... pretty simple to see, not sure why some people would rather explain it away instead of just opening their eyes and admitting to what's taking place right in front of them.

I still think GC has some of the best and most authentic fragrances. Much better than the generic and redundant BBWs fragrances IMO, but I started losing interest when they began phasing out the 2 wick large jars. I wish they’d bring them back.

Do you ever purchase goosecreek wax melts? If so, what are your thoughts?
Very rarely nowadays, but they’re pretty hit or miss. They used to have a very soft wax wax melt formula that threw so well, but they switched to the hard wax a few years ago and it hasn’t been the same strength since then
@@Inenell thank you. I’ve purchased only one, apple glazed donut, & I really like it…but not sure on purchasing others. I can say the wax is softer than the wax melts I’ve purchased at Walmart. 😂
Another comment Kevin. I did mention in a video of mine that the labels were a victorian goth but I mentioned BBW vibes.. I get on the PR ppl too. Its not getting free stuff its not reviewing the candle. They lift lids take a sniff and love everything! Nobody loves everything. Ppl comment to me all the time that trust in reviewers has dropped. I love GC. I have been with them only 4 years but I buy from them more than any others.
I think people are completely over PR by now. Especially if you’ve been around for awhile. What’s most ironic about that, is The Candle Channel and his past rants on all brand PR is probably a large reason for that lol 😆

I was very selective on my haul. I did make one more order for t GG e little Debbie came out and I really wanted Oatmeal cream pie. YC did an oatmeal cookie maybe 29 years ago. So I had to give it a try.I am going to wait now until Holiday from BBW. I still have my Black Magic from YC of which is amazing.
That Black Magic from YC would absolutely be my choice for their best Halloween candle ever

It's got almost Victorian-era graphics (which I love, btw) but to layer it on that background...I don't get it! And, while I'm at it, I'm not really a fan of the Candy Corn label. I mean...what is it: a white pumpkin/jack-o-lantern, a ghost or a vampire?! 😆 I don't mean to be ugly but good grief... 🤷🏼♀
Ahh Victorian is exactly what comes to mind, but that style + the fragrances dont match up at all, so I completely agree! And you're not being ugly whatsoever. The artist had an idea in mind with no real regard for the fit and that makes the collection look sloppy
I mean, I dig GC. They have some amazing candles and their unique scents got me into deep-diving into smaller independent candle companies. I'd say they were my gateway and I've been burning candles for years. BBW has always been whatever to me but I'll agree that the comparisons are far too many and tired. I'm not getting free stuff from anyone yet but even when I eventually do, the buck stops with the reviewer's moral compass whether they pander. I don't have a problem with a company wanting their stuff reviewed by people with major traffic, wanting those reviewers especially to give a thumbs up and trying to figure out how to cultivate a positive relationship. That's just good business. GC still makes pretty rad products (though I've got my issues with them which I'll get into on my channel at some point). Anyway, this is the long way around for me to say that the personal responsibility is 100% on the reviewer and it's about THEIR integrity, if they have any? That's the very reason I subscribed to your channel and am commenting bc there's no BS filter with you and I highly appreciate that, regardless if I agree. Lastly, as I embark on filming my first reviews, just have to say that I've never been big on "community" except in the general true sense of the word. I feel like the term has become a misnomer for "the cool kids club", the home of toxic fandom and stupid BS. Anyway dude, sorry for the novel. Enjoying your channel!

@@Inenell My pleasure and I can totally empathize. Something snapped in me way back when I was a kid and I couldn't be bothered to even consider what was "cool" to the group anymore. I just didn't care. I couldn't even try to care lol. I started doing my own thing, liking what I liked without a filter, etc. Honestly, and obviously, at times it made life tough socially during formative years but it has served me incredibly well.
I watched this video in its entirety because I enjoy your reviews of all candle brands. I always learn about brands you discuss. Although I’m not a Goose Creek fan, I agree with your standpoint on candle PR. Your discussion of this topic was respectful of your history with the brand, not “trashing” in my opinion. I totally agree about the disappointing Trick or Treat label. This is the only candle that I wanted from this collection, and I loved their iconic label.
This label is very cheese and not anyhow reminiscent of Trick or Treating
Dollar store Halloween coloring book drawing was the first thing that came to mind with the new ToT label.
TBH, on Trick or Treat the Ghost looks like it is doing a Saturday Night Fever poster Travolta imitation and the jack-o-lantern has one eye and half the mouth covered. Regardless of the previous label it could have been done better.

Longtime Goose Creek candle burner and I agree with everything you said here. Put the candle channel on other halloween labels and leave the classics alone. I hate the new style which he referred to as victorian halloween? That's just a fancy word for old lady in the 1800's really. Thank you for your honest take it's refreshing to hear an opinion from someone who has followed this company for so long.

I know what you mean about people being haters of certain brands and then when an exchange of $$$ takes place they have nothing but good things to say. I'm not even talking candle community but all different groups on here. I use to watch a lot of beauty you tubers and phew the a** kissing there when they get a box of PR items that cost over 5k. But when they started I'm just a simple girl I don't need a lot of things!
When I placed my goose creek order of wax melts I threw in a couple of the single wick candles. I started burning maple butter on the weekends its doing ok but I'm not super invested and it was like $5 so I can deal with it.

Hello Kevin. Love your videos. I love black licorice, and I've asked before, but would you please consider doing an in-depth video of all the black licorice candles you've owned? Also, did you ever try Graveyard Fog from Colonial Candle? Along with Homeworx Black Magic (they smell almost identical), It is one of my all-time black licorice-scented candles.
Oh yes, I remember now! I definitely will touch on that going forward. It’s not a real extensive list with companies a little leery of going that route, but I will offer my Top 5 in a video this fall!
@@Inenell Thank you! I'm always on the hunt for black licorice candles. I did order all of Goose Creek Halloween (as I do every year) minus Creepy Critters (ordered it once and that was enough). I'm my opinion, their best Halloween release was in 2021. I miss the large jar and the gold embossed lids.

Certainly. And he can claim honesty until he's blue in the face, but you absolutely want your product to sell. And when he refers to himself and Goose Creek as one, it's now his product too when he has a hand in the creative process.
Yeah, he seems fake in his gc videos. If he wasn’t collaborating on the candles I think his criticism of the ones he doesn’t like would be harsher.

I’ll be honest, I’ve purchased some great candles from them, but I’ve just as equally purchased some really stinky ones. It’s hard buying blindly online & it makes me mad to waste money like that. I’ve found their customer service lacking too. I may be done with them. I’ve heard Walmart will be carrying holiday scents of theirs tho…so I am really looking forward to that. I hope they do a peppermint one.

I also just received a big GC Halloween haul and I have to admit I'm disappointed with the labels. They look more mall goth than Halloween to me. The jack-o-lantern labels are fine but the others just don't give me the Halloween vibe I'm looking for. I have bought from GC in previous years and really loved the packaging of past years. I agree with you. Why would someone start receiving PR when they completely bashed GC... It makes zero sense to me. The world we live in now sums it up! I refuse to buy GC and haven't since the fiasco ( to put it lightly) in one of the candle groups years back.
