Ayivi....10 bags @2,500naira each to plaster a standard Pond 3m by 7m by 1.2 m that will last you about 50years( if rendered professionally) producing about 1,000kg body weight of fish worth 700,000naira twice a year!.......I'll need some lectures on the word...EXPENSIVE...relative to the anticipated repeated turnover!.. Anyway ,it all depends on the cash at the disposal of a new Farmer at Start Up.....that's where Plastics ,Tarpauline mode of pond system come in Handy.... but then, their lifespan is a lot lot shorter than the Cement Block Pond mode.

I concur, I have been using the sand bag method, with barb wire between the rows leaving ties exposed to attach wire mesh on the outside. Then I covered with a skim coat of concrete plaster. Mine are round though. It's a more efficiently stable shape.

Essien,you can use dry or wet grass instead of Banana and plantain leaves to 'age' the pond.
Banana and plantain are in the same taxonomic family. So the answer is yes.
why did you use hollow blocks? any special reason?
They are easier to work with and cheaper. If you noticed, they filled the gaps with rock and cement when they were finishing up the top.
