Con la evidencia disponible y aún teniendo en cuenta la diferencia de la calidad de las grabaciones, Caruso no le llega a la suela del zapato al Di Stefano de la primera época. Es uchede il concierto de le Svizera, por ejemplo y entre otros. Nadie ha visto a Caruso en el teatro y las grabaciones que, quizás no le hagan justicia, no reflejan en absoluto ninguna maravilla. Caruso hizo su carrera, mayoritariamente, en el Metropolitan. En Nápoles, su tierra natal, le pitaron y en Barcelona algo pasó. Pero sus discos se dispersaron por el mundo entero más que los de cualquier otro cantante. En las grabaciones Fleta era mucho mejor que Caruso. Hasta que punto Caruso era tan bueno y hasta que punto llegaba el marketing ?. No lo sé, pero nunca he escuchado en Caruso lo que he escuchado en Kraus, Di Stefano, Del Mónaco o Corelli, por poner algunos ejemplos. Escuchese, por ejemplo, el aria de Faust por Di Stefano. No creo que Caruso pudiera hacer eso. Lógicamente no lo puedo asegurar, pero no lo creo. Caruso: grandísimo tenor o producto de marketing
