It is kinda weird how bombers in this game act more like they have modern precision guided ammunition than some dudes looking through a shitty lense and estimating where the enemy is.
I saw this one video that said that the bombers and World War II were mostly used for morale bombing in that the main point wasn’t to kill them but it lower there morale and the British even had morale charts for bomding but don’t quit me on that
Or in World War I when they use them too just get people to leave the trenches and get into the bunkers for the assault
@@DawrinChawes Bombers definitely killed a good number of people. It was not just morale. The main purpose of tactical bombing was to kill the enemy and yes also route them. But they definitely went for causing actual damage and did suceed.
The problem is here the bombers are just hyper accurate. And also just do a little too much damage to tanks. Tanks being destroyed by bombs was pretty rare yet it happens constantly in this game. The issue is that the whole system is basically a copy of wargame. But in wargame always accurate air support makes *some* sense. In a WW2 setting it does not.
I mean it's to a point that bombers are one of the best ways to deal with tanks. Which is super inaccurate.
Flak is also not nearly as effective as it should be. All it does really is route the planes after a while. But it does nothing to interfere with the attack run. When in reality flying straight at a line of AA even if it's just four Maxims stuck together was daunting at best and suicidal often times. At the very least it would be extremely difficult to land a good shot under such conditions. Yet here it's like they are laser guided or something.
+cooper hawes Bombers were ridiculously effective ar sea. Land-based airfields were some of the biggest threats fleets faced since at least you can sink an aircraft carrier, not so much an island. You just had to avoid them or bring your own air support.
The effectiveness of ALL aircraft is significantly buffed along the board. Reason? Players won't purchase them otherwise. Imagine needing 10 sorties to take out a tank with rockets or 5 to take out light tank with cannons?
Dive Bombs tend to be more accurate

The actual basic commanders on the soviets were real shitty, but youre right about how the Soviets wouldnt just throw a thousand men into the meat grinder for no reason, they would only do it out of incompetence instead. (yes obviously, there were plenty of competent Russian Generals, but Stavka wasnt exactly brilliant and so many dudes got shot by their government that they had to get pretty green commanders most of the time)

But then I never expected a soviet truck to eat 4 155mm HE shells point blank so maybe the game itself has some issues.
Bo complaining about AA not killing planes but doesn't realize that's literally intended in the game, AA suppresses and fighters kill
AA guns of that era were barely even intended to shoot down the planes. Don't get me wrong, if they could they did, but unless a plane was flying basically straight at you or super low, hitting it was really hard with unguided AA fire of the time. AA was indeed more about suppression, if you can fill the air with flak, they have to fly higher to stay out of danger, so would be less accurate with their bombs, couldn't strafe effectively, and you could try make bombers drop their loads early to avoid being in danger too long.
And only using maxim on top of that.

Bo complaining about I-16's, an historically bad aircraft within WW2, "Why is the bomber out pacing me???" Bo your plane doesn't even have cannons and you expect it to actually be useful. It's almost as if the Germans had total air superiority at the beginning of the war.
I-16 wasn't "bad". Obsolete - sure, yet, it was used through 1941 and 1942 and was pretty capable to at least combat german bombers. As for cannons... I-16 type 28 (which is the one in the video) has two 20mm guns which makes it kinda useful in a dogfight scenario.
@@mdokuch96 then the i16 was still a bad aircraft compared to what it went up against? Sure it might not have been a bad aircraft when it was first introduced but it was at the start of ww2. It did perform well against he 51 and other bi planes but after 1939 it was objectively bad.

The people who created the game were paid when the created the game you are only paying a publisher. The animators,coders,designers,artists get paid a salary while they work, they don't get paid extra if you buy the game once its out.

You need to learn the controls, you shouldn't be using right click move during fights. You should be using hunt.
Mod kinds bullshit, soviet infantry and specially border guards were supposed to have a bunch of semi-automatic rifles

They existed, (SVD-40) but they were so rare might as well not existed.

The mod seems slightly fucked tho because the I-16 definitely could go toe-to-toe with the E variant of the BF109. If it's the F variant, I would not be that confident but the E? Definitely.
From my rapid research the I16 was significantly slower than the BF109 (only 80% of the BF109E speed). It means unless the BF109 pilot made the mistake to try to dogfight, he had a ridiculous advantage.
Also the I16 had no radio (unless it's one of the very, very late variant), and only 4, 7,62mm machine guns (unless it's once again a very limited number of late variants), which where very ineffectives against modern aircrafts of the time (like the machine guns on the Hurricane, and he had 8 of them...)
The I16 just wasn't at the same level, unless it was in a dogfight. So what we see in the video seems realistic. They turn at the same rate, but the I16 can't catch up with his opponent, making it hard to intercept them and force a dogfight.
Many video games gives a false sens of strength to some aircrafts like the I16 because the way they are designed makes this type of "slow" aircrafts without radios work. But in reality the difficulty to find your target without guidance and to catch up to a faster enemy made them completely obsolete, and that's why the I16 disappeared so fast.
@@MrMorvana 1) That's the Type 24. That has the 20mm cannon and it also has a power boost. 2) With more rounds and even 1 more cannon, during the early part of the video, it would have taken down the E no problem like it's over the Spanish sky but seems like it's not happening.
The ONLY time the I-16 suffers massively was when the F variant came about. Anything before the F should still be easy cake for the I-16 as the killrate for the I-16 during the early stages of Barbarossa was still pretty ok. The reason for it's lopsided record was because most were grounded and got destroyed during day 1 but those that flew, their record wern't horrible thus it should be on par with the E variant but totally getting outgunned? Hell no.
@@MrLolx2u From my research the speed from the Type 24 is not even 40 km/h faster than the more numerous other variant... It's still almost 100km/h slower than the BF109E.
A huge difference for planes going around 500km/h.
Anyway, if you want to believe the soviet were so bad they lost during Barb with an I16 "wunderwaffe", it's your choice. I believe what numbers and history results makes logical: the I16 wasn't a good fighter at the time it was needed during Barbarossa.
@@MrMorvana You might want to do your research again. On sea level flight which was what most air battles in the Soviet skies were conducted, both planes are comparable in speed.
At sea level, the E-3 variant could fly about 500kmh max whereas the I-16 could fly 485kmh and that's NOT 100kmh off from what you said.
Plus, I did mention that the BF109 was better after the E variant got swapped to the F variant onwards and then the I-16 was completely obsolete and can't even compete but within the E varants and below during early Barbarossa? It could.
And if you think the Soviets had anything better during Barbarossa instead of the I-16 then that's just totally hilarious.
MiG-3 had the speed but build quality of a shed, LaGg-3 was just a flying tank where the controls are so solid that you'll sore after just trying to turn it every time and the I-15 was good in the Urals and mountainous regions but anywhere else was a complete joke thus during Barb, I-16 was the most solid choice. Might not be the absolute best but it did its job well enough till the Yak-3 totally came into life.
