I swear from 2001 (Prolly starting with Renegade) to like 2003 (Climaxing with Patiently Waiting w/ 50) Em's flow was so smooth it was like his voice was just another instrument, and his rhyme schemes stayed on point. With Encore and D12 world he stayed really musical but the drugs started to make him lose that perfect rhyming which, paired with his flow, was perfection. The Eminem Show? 8 Mile Soundtrack? God flow
The entire song is about rhyming unrhymable words in a manner so smooth we do not even notice. Verse 1 He spends his first few lines directly saying that we're about to witness a masterpiece. He says this with the primary words, "witness," "purest," "rawest," "flawless," "hardest," "honest," and "artist," all of which are essentially or completely rhymeless. (They have, respectively, 1, 2, 0, 1, 0, 0, and 0 rhymes.) The next line has the phrases "chip off," "old block," and "old dock," none of which have any rhymes. The name of the song is "Business," which has zero rhymes, and the theme of the song is Batman and Robin, both of which have zero rhymes. He employs both of these words in the subsequent line, and in the next line employs the words "Saddam" and "Laden," neither of which rhyme with anything. He ends the next line with the rhymeless word "pilot." He ends the line after this with the rhymeless word "hinges," rhymes with "oranges," "syringes," and then transitions to rhyming "inches" (again, none have rhymes). The first line of the hook ends with the rhymeless name of the song, "Business," which he rhymes with "what is this" and "get a witness" (which also has no rhymes). Verse 2 The first line ends with "miracles," which has no rhymes. He promptly rhymes it with "wilikers" and "syllables," neither of which has any rhymes. The next line ends with "Gotham," which has no rhymes, and the next line ends with "criminals," which has no rhymes. He rhymes "rap criminals" with previous "bat syllables." The line after this employs the phrase "skip to your lou" ("your lou" has no rhymes) and ends with the phrase "do best" (no word or word-string rhymes with this). He ends the next line with "do it," then "the shit," then "hated on," obviously no rhymes. He ends the next line with "no such thing," as if saying there's no such thing as a rhyme for it, but then immediately rhymes "no such thing" twice, and then says "so much more"-and rhymes it. Then, as if signing the piece, he finishes with two rhymes of his own name "Marshal," neither of which has any rhyme. Verse 3 Third verse functions the same way. In the first two lines he's found two rhymes for "duo" (one of which is the first two syllables of "you already"), and rhymes "dynamic" with "why panic," and rhymes "fully capable." He then rhymes "duet" 5 times in the space of 2 lines. In the next two lines, he rhymes "get to see an MC" with "these beats and be," while beginning a rhyme-streak with rhymeless "so freely"-as if saying he's still free even with the constraint of using only rhymeless words-and then rhymes it thirty times in eight lines. The whole thing is like how Bach would impose extraordinary constraints on his work and compose within those constraints as if they weren't even there because that's how much of a genius he was. Eminem is the Bach of rap.
Wow you broke it down for real, I always knew there were a lot of "impossible" rhymes in this track highlighted by rhyming "orange" but I didn't know the extent of it because he does it so effortlessly in so many different flows... Yo Stevie you missed two doubles: 1. Em is referring to himself as the Batman (DRE being Robin) and he says that "it must be circus in town, lets shut this shit down on these clowns" which makes you think about Batmans biggest enemy - the Joker. Which means he thinks of all whack rappers (Ja rule, Benzino and others) as his archenemies and they have to go down. 2. As it was 2002 and Twin Towers happened already he gives 9.11 reference - first he talks about Saddam having his Laden and point out at the end of this scheme that hip-hop is in the state of 911. Of course it means that hip-hop is in poor condition and it needs an ambulance but it is a double - he thinks that hip-hop is a much bigger mess comparable to 9.11 Hope you read it 😉
Dre is Batman, Em is Robin. Em always considers himself as Dre’s sidekick. He uses the Batman and Robin reference in many songs, he’s always Robin. Him and Dre also dress up and Batman and Robin for the “Without Me” music video...again, Em is Robin.

2. As it was 2002 and Twin Towers happened already he gives 9.11 reference - first he talks about Saddam having his Laden and point out at the end of this scheme that hip-hop is in the state of 911. Of course it means that hip-hop is in poor condition and it needs an ambulance but it is a double - he thinks that hip-hop is a much bigger mess comparable to 9.11
Hope you read it 😉
Dre is Batman, Em is Robin. Em always considers himself as Dre’s sidekick. He uses the Batman and Robin reference in many songs, he’s always Robin. Him and Dre also dress up and Batman and Robin for the “Without Me” music video...again, Em is Robin.
@@albinorhino6 DID YOU NOT SEE THE VIDEO LOL
This song is probably more revalent now than it's ever been!!
SO MGK wasnt the first to say the beard is weird....
"till we grow beards, get weird, and disappear in the mountains"
Umm actually he was, since what emeinem says in that line has nothing to do with beards being weird.
@@PR-xm5zc No shit dude, and everyone loves the "um, actually" douche, im sure you're a blast at parties and a winner in life.
@@LinusMundane Ummm actually, you're being condescending now fam. As for the song he is right; Em' says _"til' we grow beards, get weird, and disappear"_ he ain't sayin' _"till' we grow weird beards"_
@@LinusMundane lmfao did I trigger you that easily? Don't make stupid comments if you don't want to be corrected.
@@PR-xm5zc YuP, YoU SuRe TrIgGeReD Me!
*This is 2-year-old Stevie night we need a refresh course on this track he knows more Eminem backstory it & he would pick up way more*
gotta get some D12 songs to react to, Eminem's got some sick verses on those
fight music, american psycho, rap game ... devils night was a sick album that gets a little bit forgotten. (i know rap game was on 8 mile)
@@agny369 rabbit run was insane 🔥
@@bryansantiago392 yeah the 8 mile soundtrack plus the freestyles are still fire even without the movie context. It was around this time that green lantern started putting out the invasion mixtapes too, that honestly was my favorite hip hop era,2002-2009ish? So many marquee artists making timeless music. I wish Lloyd banks stayed around , I thought he was the best skill wise in g unit and I actually bumped into him on Long Island and a pizzareia when I was in my early 20s... we exchanged a head nod because I didn’t wanna act like a crazy fan but that was a moment I’ll always remember. 50 lived near
Me also , his baby mommas house mysteriously burned down sometime around then... LL cool J and I believe Mary j blige lived near me also , along with a lot of New York jets before they were a laughing stock (short window)
The Em show, the em show, the em show!!!
His best album, I’ve been telling people. Keep it going.
My first exposure to Eminem was when I first saw him performed "Forgot About Dre" with Dr. Dre on MTV awards show 1999 and am a fan ever since, if you haven't heard or react to it, check it out man
You know your good when you are making a song about how good you are and no one questions it years after the fact !
Easily the best reactor on TH-cam! Im from the uk so don’t always hear the full bars because of the accents and American events they talk about, break downs are to perfection, im also a stan so catch most of Eminem bars tho! 😉 also this song was released in 2002.... big love from Manchester
Ah now you know why this song is probably my favorite Eminem song and one of my favorite rap song ever in general.
Does anyone know if Stevie has heard "Beautiful" yet?
9:59 "grow beards, get weird" maybe that's where MGK got his "Beard is weird" thing from
I'm not going to lie, I was wondering where my Marshall Monday was!
It’s Stevie’s bday today! Cut our man some slack lol
This beat and everything what Eminem is saying is so PERFECT‼️‼️‼️👌😄
Everyone says MMLP is his best album i say THE EMINEM SHOW is his best album.
Im with you on this one.
An almost by a long shot . That says a lot .
Everyone song on the Eminem show Is great
He was talking about Insane Clown Posse as he was beefing with them at the time as as he is batman and going to save the rap game from the clown (the Joker)
It's all adding up now 😂
i remember when this cd came out, may 2002, the year after 9/11. Whole cd is fire, i went on a camping trip that weekend and i couldnt get wait to get back and listen to this on repeat.
3:20 I can't believe you missed he rhymed "orange" several times
This album is so ridiculous. He’s in the zone for every single line on the entire project. Only Beethoven, 2016 Steph Curry, Steven Spielberg, and Usain Bolt have reached this level of being ON FIRE so consistently. It’s madness the way Em writes bars.
You should react to "GATman And Robbin" by 50 Cent and Eminem
I’m still in disbelief how some completely missed this album, I was in 4th grade when it dropped and I knew it word for word, bumpin it with my CD 💿 player(Walkman)....... guess I’ve just always been a stan 💯
I think this was a diss to ICP if I remember correctly, hence the chorus
i think icp had dissappeared into non existence when this song came out, this was just a classic dre beat with eminem doin his thing over it, definitely not the most complex of his songs but definitely a banger.
So nostalgic. First CD I ever bought with my saved up pocket money and my fave song on the CD.
Please react to never love love again by Eminem
That was way back in 02 the times of classic rap albums. That was like his third album if I am not mistaken that was my shit.
React to rugged mans all my heroes are dead album
If nothing else, all systems go is a must
Most underrated hip hop artist in the game without doubt
One of my favorites EM songs right there!
2002 Eminen - " Till we grow beards get weird"
2018 MGK - "Your beards weird"
🤣🤣
Dawg your whole mood changed after listening to this song, at the end you were pumping and dancing haha i’m glad you enjoyed it
NGL I'm really thinking of checking out the Patreon just to see that reaction to Above the Law from the intro.
The cadence to this song is something else!
Eminem - Music Box
Eminem - Deja Vu
Crazy ass rhymes schemes and storytelling
This Album was absolute fire, every track was a banger!
I’m glad you had the same reaction to the keyboard chord part. It’s soooo good haha
Eminem - STAY WIDE AWAKE - one of his best.
