If you see the pattern SM liked and still likes to release songs that are in a minor key as the title track for SMP. Otherwise it's a ballad. H.O.T started hip-hop then Shinhwa started the minor key SMP, then Shinee was the start of R&B and something different, Girls Generation started bubblegum pop with Gee, Super Junior had the first song with autotune with Sorry Sorry and first song with EDM, Shinee and FX was the start of SM trying experimental music. EXO was like SM creating a perfect idol group and using the success recipe best performance, vocals, visuals etc and music of all genre's and more pop-based. Red Velvet continued the bubblegum concept and teen-fresh. NCT was SM getting back into hip-hop again but this time properly making an SM sound within hip-hop of course, like chanting in the chorus, beats that hit super hard, took performance to the next level, and took experimenting to a whole new level changing the K-pop industry which is why all 4th gen groups sound like NCT nowadays. If EXO was SM 3.0 then NCT is SM 4.0 update. Now Aespa is the first with AI concept and Metaverse
