I always use a line tide to a stirrup and passed under the horse to go through the near side of the horse to put pressure and release on the horse with me standing beside the stirrup to move forward during ground foundation work-this greatly help the horse understand we are communicating a forward cue when mounted-I ride expecting a horse to stay moving forward unless my seat, breath and hands dictate otherwise-so after a few days they move off my leg and stay walking with now only my seat keeping the motion until I relax and breath out for a stop--go through same routine for the jog-I fully agree that flexion of the head and neck is paramount-and the direction a horse goes first ride does not matter-there are no short cuts!!!

I am 5ft, and under 120lbs. Safe to say I love watching good skills on the ground before I take on my two young newly geldings in the saddle. The time and preparation takes on good perspective when I go and start to work with my own horses. I love music 🎶. I really like it in the indoor arena where we are at this time. Spooky noises seem to be a huge distraction. I love your music you display your showcases in. You are my go to for elite training online. My husband talked to you on the phone not long ago. I am in Colorado right now, but hoping to make more contact with you on more training at some point. We have a Haidas, Highbrow Cat roan we really want to send to you eventually, we think he is pretty special, lol but aren’t they all? I really appreciate your training, but mostly how your horses take to what your teaching. It has been a huge benefit for what I want from my own horses. I really appreciate how you mold them and carve out the unwanted forceful training. I love the confidence they show more than anything.......✌🏼 artwork

"Lazy" doesn't make sense in a horse, and even less so in a colt. They're just either uncertain, or really overwhelmed. My Gunner colt it took him THREE sessions being stuck to feel confident enought to actually GO, and many more to get the feet really unstuck. Excellent trick with that little rope, will use it for my next start ;)

Love this, I am just learning to start the little ones so this answered and reinforced things that I am doing so thank you! Looking forward to many more videos! (Side note, love your voice and instruction but the music is just to much of a distraction during our learning session-so ur voice would be more effective and the video over all, plz no offense-that music to hyper for a situation that needs to be relaxed learning, other wise LOVE THIS-plz no haters-there are many commercials in between so line the quiet learning. Ty!!

This is very good work, but do you find those extra long split rope reins are a bit dangerous? what if she stepped on it? why so long?

How many rides do you do in the side pull before you introduce the bit. Enjoy this video so much.

It depends on the horse and how comfortable the two of you are imo (avoid steady pressure which will increase dullness)

Without ANY disrespect, a horse that is that soft and that well brought along , on the ground...is not going to buck. Sorry, not sorry. I do enjoy some of your other tips though.

Silly comment. Reiners before they're trained are just green horses like her

If I would be a horse of yours you would be driving me crazy with those all the time asking flexions. Its like asking for butter whilst having it allready on your bread. Sorry.
