For my Fun Facts series, I take a topic suggestion or a set of questions from my diecast IG @kaidohousegarage, and answer them here. Before working in tech and EV, I was a designer and former design director of Hot Wheels Diecast for 14 years, and have a lot of fun stories to share. I now have many diecast partnerships including Mini GT and IG Models, so between my past, present and future, I have a lot of fun facts and stories to share.
This is the first diecast episode, you'll learn which topic I chose and how I break down the answers. An added bonus- the IG follower who submitted the topic will receive a gift from the KAIDOHOUSE.

I was so happy when these came out. I’ve always idolized the b.r.e. 510. I had a 4 door that I put a new 2000cc with side draft Weber’s. So cool, I didn’t know you did the RWB 930. My favorite piece ever.
I have a 71’ 510 super I found peg hunting a while back & that’s my center piece 🔥🫡

I have to follow you as I collect mainline and premium cars but your JDM are remarkable ° Mad Manga °Track Manga ° The Hako GTX .°Datsun 510 ° RWD Porsche ° Datsun 510 Wagon Didn't get the German portion in getting the approval . Have all your castings and still follow your progress very sad about Ryu Asada 1978-2021 May his legacy lives on I'm a Collector from the Bahamas both of you have very detailed casting with full tampos you should be able to add plates Just loving it

Thank you again for taking the time to make this, and for all the times you answered my questions and those of so many others in the autograph lines at conventions over the years. Your work on these and other cars will forever be a part of the joy I get out of collecting diecast. Hearing about the production process and all that it takes to get cars from idea to finished product really is amazing.

Dear Jun, it would be awesome if you could post a video on the intricacies of bringing a licensed diecast come to life. Just high level stuff...
You should totally talk about your Hw original designs like Nerve Hammer, Rd-08, Symbolic, Chicane and my favorite one : Diesel boy in a future episode.
For sure, a lot of those were designed in my early days at HW, so it'll be a fun vid to put together!

Great video and fun facts about each Hot Wheels car. I have to say though that the 510 wagon in the Nissan diorama set is my favorite because it is the best representation of your own-before the recent updates anyway. The RWB Porsche is awesome and I’m glad you were able to pull that off. Looking forward to more videos and what you have in store for the future. 😎👍🏻

I sold 170 hotwheels last year as I decided to start to collect more accurate 1:64 models like inno64 for example.
I do really like the new Kaido House Mini GT 510..
My favourite hotwheels had to be the Honda City Turbo. I really liked that casting and I'd love to see it taken on by Mini GT
I love the 70 chevelle and the boss mustang and the 510 wagon
I was hoping to hear about the 993 gt2 casting as one of his top five but that’s ok. I think the back story to these makes sense.
The 993 GT2 is one of my favorites. It just wasn't as "satisfying" as these 5. Plenty of diecast designs in the HW tool bank to talk about in future vids, the GT2 will be one of them. I have a special history on that one.

Q: does Mattel fire designers of peg warmers (Shopping Cart, Toilet Bowl, GoPro carrier)? They should.
Q2: why doesn’t Mattel push out another million or so of popular cars like Candy Striper Gasser in pink and make more money while killing off the loser scalpers?

How long did it take to get the RWB licensing? And do you have to set all that up prior to design?
