To make it easier for anyone trying to do this in survival just use Deepslate brick or Blackstone instead of Obsidian.

A statue like this is just begging to have a command block that plays certain sounds at random when players are near it. TNT hiss overlaid on the dry husk groan most likely.
id opt to put one in the staff that summons a lightning bolt on occasion I think 🤔💥
