I second John's comment. I searched a few other cartridge filter cleaning videos, which only show the basic rinsing. This video (30min) shows all the detailed steps from the beginning to the end, including deep cleaning of the cartridge filters with degreaser and proper amount of muriatic acid. It also includes all the great advices on maintenance and what to avoid (tools, supplies, grease, torque, etc). MUST WATCH for first timer or as a refresher before cleaning filter next time and KEEP this in your saved list.
Great step by step Vid. The best I’ve ever seen tbh !!! I’m getting ready to do this for the first time. My only question is what type of degreaser do you use? Any certain brand? Is this degreaser specifically for Pools or is it any old degreaser you find at the store? Thank you !
Why do u use degreaser and muriatic acid?? Don’t these products decrease the lifespan of the filters dramatically?!? If you look at the Hayward manual, it says to just hose off cartridges only with a hose (no pressure washing)
Do you need to turn off any valves on pipes leading to or from the filter? We followed these steps and as soon as we took off the big filter case ring water would not stop

My bands been broken for few seasons seems to work fine.
I just realized that our top manifold does not have that top bumper/spring thing. what does that do? We have had our pool since 2008.

Reason for add chem to water, not vis versa?

You need to turn filter and cleaners totally off and make sure to disable the schedule for auto turn on.
