I wouldnt count generic levels a ”trend” cuz generic levels are levels that most of people make. I mean if, for excample, 60% of featured levels were lazerblitz styled, that should be then considered generic
You missed the epileptic effect, the silent leves, the "cubes story" levels, the 1.0 to 2.0/2.1 themed levels, the MIRROR portal, and the "robtop level mix" levels
The worst argument in geometry dash for me is "its bad because its empty" He has valid points, but unless someone is exploiting it, i'm okay with a level that isn't 100% filled with fireworks and effects. Some people want a calm, easy level to go into the game. people were exploiting it, but some cant play every level to know if their's looks unique
One thing that I would call a 'trend' (at least, at first) was xl levels in general. It was started with Tetrix by Insendium, which was called 'the longest level ever' when it was released. Then more people started making really long levels. Eventually, Robtop found these levels, and decided to add the 'xl' length, for levels over 2 minutes long. It's not really considered a 'trend' anymore, but it has caused some of the best levels ever created, and I think it really influenced the community in a good way.
What about the mixed trend we have like 5 famous mixed levels demon mixed nine circles mix 1 and 2 robtop level mix and you cant forget ultimate demon mix
the only think i disagree with is that the -1 is yellow not orange ;)) great video again!! glad you are branching out from top 10s your content just keeps getting better and better to watch :) very unique idea
It still kind of bothers me that people still think bossfights started in 2.0. This is in fact false. The bossfight trend BLOOMED in 2.0, but it started in 1.8. I cant remember the name of the level, but JEYZOR uploaded a level where aliens were attacking you throughout the second half of the level, those alien attacks is what made the levels difficulty, 5 stars. What I do know is that the song for the level is I believe Massacre by SHTRiga
I understand what you are trying to say here, but you're completely wrong. Firstly, the level you are describing, Electronic Universe by Jeyzor was uploaded in update 1.9, not 1.8. And I disagree that some copy and pasted alien spaceship decorations with flashing lasers, which just act as spikes, counts as a bossfight. I've been familiar with the community since 1.5, and I can't think of one big level to have a bossfight up until deadlocked, the main 2.0 level. Nevertheless, even if there are a few lesser known ones, what defines a trend is the time it becomes trending, not when the first of its kind is released. Boss fight levels may have been started beforehand, but weren't 'trend'ing until post 2.0. It doesn't matter what you class as a bossfight level, move and alpha triggers or not. And in case anyone was wondering, the song from Electronic Universe is 'Massive Discharge' by Shtriga.
@@geometrydashkingdemon4820 I understand, you are right that the bossfight trend didn't happen until 2.0. But I do believe that Keys or had the concept in mind when he made the level. Also thank you for the correction. I knew the song started with MA but I couldnt think of the name so that was the first thing that came to mind, mainly because I waa thinking about Madhouse
Generic levels aren't a trend, it's just a term used for levels that are just very similar to the vast majority of featured levels. For some reason a lot of people think it started in 2.0, and it's false. Every update had its type of "generic" levels. In 1.6 we had Clubstep remakes, in 1.9 we had epileptic neon levels and Blast Processing remakes with a bunch of fakes, 2.0 had simplistic levels and 2.1 has glow or simple modern levels. It changes over time and it has been a thing since the beginning of the game For trends I'd also add the Sunset theme because it used to be very popular in 1.9 and early 2.0. It was a really annoying trend because it was hard to read what's solid and what isn't.
The concept of Levelution was interesting and good (build an unique level with some limitations is a good challenge), but was so poorly executed that it went hated (I include myself). I only liked a bunch of levels (The Lost Existence by JonathanGD, for example), but the rest were bad.
I don’t think rebirth levels are that good. I mean Elite Z and red world did need rebirths but levels like TUP and the Stalemate don’t need rebirths Also generic levels are fine in my book
They are so easy to make, just make 1 column and copy+paste it 200 times tbrough the level, add random air deco and numbers that show your score, and make the level medium or barely long cuz doing it all is boring. "Flap" is the only level of this type that doesn't follow this scheme, and that's because a lot of people made it together, and that's why it's not boring, unlike all the rest.
And now there is trend of glow drowning levels. Which is like 70% of the feature list, I mean these are better than the 2.0 generic levels but it’s really overused at this point.
My Top 5 Most Fun Levels Ever: #1 SLAM and in Silico; #2 SLAM and in Silico; #3 SLAM and in Silico; #4 SLAM and in Silico; #5 SLAM and in Silico. Honourable Mentions: SLAM in Silico
I will give the bossfight trend a massive thumbs down because its almost always just wave spam or ship and sometimes you even have to memorize everything. I think bossfights are usually really cancer and annoying to play.
Ok Generic Levels are not a trend, they are just a basic form of level mainly focused around gameplay rather than deco. While gameplay can also be considered "generic" in some levels but it doesn't fit the definition of a trend, at least not in gd.
This is also why people are so artistic, simple made levels are bullcrap nowadays. I just happen to enjoy simply made lvls and made me question why people try so hard decorating lvls that simple was'nt good enough to be featured.
If you wanna talk about bad trends, why in the world wasn't the sunset level trend mentioned. It was by far the absolute most horrid trend this game has ever seen, and lasted for way too long.
Am I really the only person who hates 2.1 levels? Way too much block design and moving objects, those generic levels look really nice and not empty at all...
I agree with all of the points except for nine circles. Why? Because they are an easy Way to make a Łazy unoriginal hard level that gets a lot of attention
Actually I think people should be free to create anything they want, unless it's just flat out copying another level. Generic levels are very much fine to me and shouldn't be hated on, just because they are getting feature. Creators like Adiale get a lot of hate because of this, because people think they are trying to grind cp. My point is that people should be free to create anything they want, and if it gets feature, that's robtop's decision and not the creators fault. Levels shouldn't get hate just because they're bad and featured. There are a lot of bad levels out there, and robtop isn't the best at rating levels, and it's unfair if people get hate because their levels are featured when they shouldn't be. I don't think it's that big of a deal when a bad level is featured anyway. The only downside I can think of is that the creator gets cp when they shouldn't have it. But what is that gonna change?
@@GamingDischarge From time to time some really great levels pop up. Sometimes its good to take a break, the game feels more fun and fresh when you return

- Rebirth levels are bad as the gameplay is basically copied
- Generic levels are good as it lets new creators actually get rated levels
