    When I saw the thumbnail and Dr.Keprate's happy face, for a moment I thought the proposal to introduce tuition fees was dismissed in the Norwegian Parliament. :-( ....that is until I watched the video.

    • @haroon1210
      @haroon1210 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha. It hasn't been discussed yet. But soon it will happen. To be honest I am quite sure that they will introduce tution fees soon.

    • @krishnasiddharth5032

      @@haroon1210 This time it's hard to tell. Because to what side the balance appears to be tilted is not very clear. But I understand why you feel that way. Indeed in November, a proposal by the ruling party, Hoyre, to introduce tuition fees for international students (citizens from outside the EU and EEA) was drafted and has recently been submitted to the Norwegian parliament. The same had been done in the past by Norway's right wing party FrP, but the motion was dismissed. But this time, it's not just the FrP, even the ruling Conservative Patry (Hoyre), have also joined in support of introducing tuition fees for international students. Back in 2012, apart from FrP there was a major push from the _youth_ wing of Hoyre. At that time, even the Centrist Party Sp and the Christian Democratic Party (KrP) supported it. In retrospect, it is said that Hoyre itself doesn't support the proposal, rather it's youth wing that does so but in November 2020 and recently, the leadership itself approved the proposal draft. So if I were to be a bit cynical, this time there is a stronger coalition and we don't know how many votes in the parliament will be in favor and against this proposal. The Labour party, which has the largest share of seats in the parliament, I know for sure is _against_ introducing fees. So that's a plus. One professor who deals with education affairs from the University of Oslo mentioned that the proposal has no major political push and that tuition fees will likely not be introduced. Despite this, things are a bit on the edge at the moment. As I said, it appears to be a delicate balance and we don't know on which side the tilt would be. In addition to this if tuition fees is introduced, there is a dilemma about whether it will be applicable only for those students who apply in the future or also incoming students who have already got an admit (like me) and current students. I have posted a link below among others, the first one, in which a Bangladeshi student who is already studying at UiO, refers to a portion of the proposal wherein it is specified that even current students maybe forced to pay tuition. Ofcourse, if at all such a thing happens the universities will provide scholarships for current students or incoming students, but question is, will they do so for all international students? It is due to these factors that I am holding my breath until the parliament results come out, mostly likely in July as Dr.Keprate mentioned. When I applied this year, there was no tuition fees requirement (Don't get me wrong, I didn't apply just for the lack of tuition fees, but also because I heard Norwegian education is generally higher in quality). I got my admit in February and quit my job in India in preparation for my master's programme in Norway. Suddenly in July, if the Norwegian parliament passes the proposal and if it is applicable even for incoming students, then all incoming international students, which includes me, will be at a major loss. Atleast students who apply in the future will have a headsup long before they apply, if there should be any tuition fee. But incoming students would be caught completely off guard and in for a rude shock. As I am writing this, very few international students are aware of these developments. So lets see how things transpire. I hope that tuition fee is not introduced in the future.

    Hello Arvind, appreciate your efforts with your channel and education in Norway. While I was on the UDI portal, it says the chosen Uni/College program to be part of The place of study must be included on the Norwegian Agency for Quality Assurance in Education’s (NOKUT) list of approved (accredited) universities, university colleges or specialized university institutions (external website). Please help with this, as I'm unable to see the University of Tromso and many more such universities. Happy to be guided by you.

    But most of the universities I contacted doesn't care about the years of education(I emailed them). They assess application on their previous course module. If we meet that criteria, admission would be given(University of Oslo's statement).
    So I feel your statement on eligibility is wrong.

    Hello Arvindji….Namaskar. Wanted little guidance for pursuing masters for my son @ Norway. He is presently studying Bachelor’s in Computer Science @ Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He shall complete his bachelor’s by April 2022. Can he qualify to apply for September batch @ Norway, either for Masters in Data Science or Computer Science? We noticed the options for Data Science just one or two in entire Norway….are we getting this right or we are missing something? Please guide us or share link of any such video’s done by you for pursuing Masters in Norway. Anticipating your feedback..thanking you in advance. Good Day
