    Hard pill to swallow:
    Simone is the best gymnast in the world and in no way overscored or overrated. Calling any other gymnast better than her is not edgy or original, it is wrong.

    • @Andrew-pf5fj
      @Andrew-pf5fj 5 ปีที่แล้ว +98

      Pointing out the obvious and calling it a hard pill to shallow is in no way original or edgy either. Subjectively, there are other gymnasts that are more enjoyable to watch than her. She excels at difficulty but lacks in a lot of other departments, and people can prefer other gymnasts if they want. Swallow that.

    • @merijakaj8087
      @merijakaj8087 5 ปีที่แล้ว +36

      Megan Amber her gymnastic is more “acrobatic” than “artistic”... she has no grace and there are way more other gymnasts that are more enjoyable to watch. plus i think that her routines are made for making points and not for her abilities. sorry if i made some mistakes but i’m italian.

    • @chloerafferty9288
      @chloerafferty9288 5 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      she is certainly overstored. its a personal choice who's the best gymnast in the world, for me its aliya mustafina. i dislike simone, her routines are inelegant and boring. the only reason why she is scored so high is because of her tumbling even though she can't stick any of the landings. so no, simone is not the best in the world, fuck off :)

      @@Andrew-pf5fj You're an idiot who doesn't see the contradiction in your own statement. "You're pointing out the obvious" then "You're wrong". Smooth one hot shot.

    • @br0wnsug3h
      @br0wnsug3h 5 ปีที่แล้ว +94

      @@chloerafferty9288 Don't confuse personal choice with facts in regard to "the best" in sports. The best in any sporting event is defined by the one who is most dominant during their time. This is measured by wins/accolades. Simone is more dominant than Aliya or anyone else with the records to back it up. This is simply facts. You may prefer Aliya or anyone else for that matter, but factually Simone is indeed the best female gymnast competing at the moment based on her winning margin.

    Simone's leotard is like a mini concert with all of those sparkles! So pretty! I love that black and gold. Reminds me of Beyonce! I know a lot of the attention is on Simone, and some people are over it, but let's appreciate this time. We are living history right now. Imagine the gymnastics community when Nadia or Svetlana Khorkina was competing. You can appreciate and cheer on other athletes like Morgan, Riley, Ragan etc. without tearing down Simone. If you have a problem with the way people are covering events, then blame it on the networks and commentators... not the athletes!

      Literally no one tears Simone down, because people know she's the best on the competition. People are complaining about the commentators because they are biased towards certain gymnasts.
      If anything it's the other way around, Simone Biles' fans kept putting other gymnasts down and referring other gymnasts as "peasants" "spectators" "nothing compared to Simone" (you can see the comments below). You should tell them to appreciate other gymnasts instead.

      Gymnastics is no longer a beautiful graceful dance from beginning to end. It's now just pure power tumbling when it comes to floor, stops and starts and not mesmerising to look at. Floor was my favourite.

      NCAA MAG uses FIG COP and scoring, that is the primary reason that many male gymnasts compete while in the NCAA. Also, the peak of a male gymnast is usually in their early to mid 20s. NCAA WAG uses Junior Olympic COP and scoring comes from a 10.000. The routines in college are not at the same difficulty as elite. This is why you don't usually see female US gymnasts compete elite while in NCAA. However, there are many NCAA female gymnasts that compete internationally for other countries, where there is less competition (US has great depth).

      I agree it's nice to see but a lot has to do with training on college they are only allowed to train 20hrs a week so the athlete would have to go to an9ther gym for additional training which can be really hard all gyms aren't elite gyms and it could be hard funding another coach that they mesh with especially since many move away from and their home gym to compete in college and their college coach couldn't coach them during the extra hours bc they are limited to 20 hrs a week it may be a little more now I haven't been a college athlete in over a decade

    Simone’s “Moors” (double twisting double layout) is the second best one being done in the world (after Kenzo Shurai). He’s literally the only person (male or female) who I think could challenge her on that move. He does a triple twisting double layout, and based on how late Simone starts the twist, and how much height she gets, I wouldn’t be surprised if she could throw another twist in there easily!

I think she just needs more time and she's got 2 years to build her confidence and I think with Simone back it'll help her at least that's my hope. I think she's doing amazing all things considered

      Yelena Shushunova, 1988 Olympic all-around champion, dies at 49
      Yelena Shushunova, the 1988 Olympic all-around champion, died Thursday at age 49, according to Russia’s gymnastics federation.
      Shushunova died of complications from pneumonia, a Russia gymnastics federation official said, according to TASS.
      Shushunova earned two golds, a silver and a bronze at the Seoul 1988 Games at age 19. She beat Romanian Daniela Silivas by .025 of a point in the all-around, needing and scoring a 10 on her final apparatus on vault to take gold outright.
      Shushunova and Silivas each tallied seven 10s at those Games, matching Nadia Comaneci‘s record from the 1976 Montreal Olympics.
      Shushunova also earned 11 medals between the 1985 and 1987 World Championships in one of the most impressive Olympic cycles for a gymnast.
      She made the Soviet national team in time for the 1984 Olympics, but the nation boycotted the Los Angeles Games.

    Jade is just as powerful as Simone if you watch her, but I think she needs a different coach that can train her to use and control her power. Just my opinion

    I have to say it bothers me when they keep referring to Ragan Smith as THE favorite for the 2017 all around when Larisa Iordache looked just as strong coming into the meet and Mai Murakami actually beat Ragan in qualification. What happened to Ragan was heartbreaking, but the same thing happened to Larisa and if both had been healthy and hit a full competition the title could have gone either way. Besides, Ragan doesn't need your help to pad her resumé: her accomplishments as national champion and olympic alternate speak for themselves.

      Yo ragan only lost to Mai because she had two falls I agree with you about Larisa I think she has a slight edge though but it's not that big of a deal ragan was the favorite going into the finals

      Andreja Dimitrijevic I totally agree with you. All she does is poses no dancing. Jade is about two tricks away from being right on point with Simone when it comes to difficulty on vault and on floor yet she still scoring so low because of her technique, lack of polish and her style is just not on par with elite level. But she will still do well internationally and should be on that worlds team.

    • @karlishajames4394
      @karlishajames4394 5 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      Andreja Dimitrijevic yeah it doesn't seem to fit her dance style, or it doesn't seem highlight her personality. Her shoulders are stiff and her moves are not full extended in the dance which I know is something a lot of people struggle with, but it's a ability that you need when u have a more ballet style routine.. Riley McCuster is wonderful at that which is probably why she chooses music and choreography to highlight her performance ability.. I also believe that is why Simone chooses a more relaxed style dance with less artistry she highlights her athletic ability to hide her slight weakness on the ballet artistry. I know some people complain about the so called lack of artistry in gymnastics compared to 80,s and 90s time period.. I think that's a unfair comparison a gymnast or any competitive athlete should designs routine the highlights their ability and max the scoring potential, when they don't they look tight and the routine lacks performance ability. It looks like someone wearing their mom's clothes
