  • Every action figure line has their pros and cons, today we're going to talk about Four Horsemen's Mythic Legions. Jordan and Dakota are split on some of the pros and cons. We hope this helps new collectors know what to except when getting into the line.

    Pros:
    Amazing sculpts
    Great paint apps
    Cool designs
    Great plastic quality (usually)
    Rare themes (how many knight figures do you usually see?)
    Good value
    Price value increases, even if you opened them
    Cloth goods (if you like them, like I do, they're fantastic!)
    Cons:
    Newer figures are far better than the old, rereleased figures that they seem not worth it anymore
    Expensive, worse if you are international
    Rare and hard to find, worse if you're international
    Sometimes joints come or become loose (specially ankle joints)
    Cool old figures are way too expensive and rare to get
    Waves take a year or more to release
    Paint apps do sometimes miss (but that's with any figure really)
    Articulation is decent but limited, however they are improving slowly
    Old figures tend to come with less and uninteresting accessories compared to newer figures
    Cloth goods (if you don't like them, well they're only becoming more prominant in the lines)
    Those are all the pros and cons I could think about. Mythic legions are some of my favorite figures in my collection, I only have a few of them since I am an international collector and they are expensive and hard to get, but man are they worth it. My favorite so far is Duban.

      That's an excellent list. It does get hard to stand them up sometimes, especially like you said, when the ankle joints start to loosen, they're just diving off the shelf. Also the hoofed feet give me issues when trying to stand them too.

    The first figure I got, Aracagorr the dragon, is amazing, looks fantastic, much better in person! The trouble I had with him is it came with no instructions, had a hard time figuring out how to attach the tail, and a harder time getting his torso separated from his legs. Really needs some sort of an instruction and if they're truly supposed to be swappable, much easier to disassemble without fear of braking it. But really enjoying it so far and have a few more on order already!

    • @thestrongcollectors
      @thestrongcollectors  หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s an interesting point. I think so many of us fans go straight to TH-cam to watch those kind of instructions but someone getting their first figure especially not knowing about the mythic legions cabal on Facebook may not think to do that. They could add a QR code that takes you to Mythic Customs to watch the instructions of pop and swaps and all that.

    Pros: amazing sculpt, paint app, details, different materials
    Cons: price, articulation, very hard to find (no retail), becomes rare because they don't usually re-release.

    • @thestrongcollectors
      @thestrongcollectors  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would say they aren't that hard to find. There are so many approved retailers out there and most figure collecting is online shopping now for most so they're out there. and as for rare, it seems like that only applies to older figures. Anything post Arethyr isn't too hard to find in stock and for about retail. I think with the popularity growing the stock of figures is growing too. Now if you're wanting some of the first few waves that haven't been made to All Stars, those are pretty rare and expensive.

    I also had some issues with my ML figures standing not all but there are a few that will stand for a few day and then fall over but I also have that problem with McFarland figures even with the stands he throws in the figure still falls over. I think another drawback to ML is not all figures are made to mount say a horse or another creature , such as the D20 Studio wolf , since the legs don’t spread wide enough.

    • @thestrongcollectors
      @thestrongcollectors  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They can be a bit dissipative in standing. I'll get them posed cool and 3 days latter they've fallen over and taken out 2 others on their way down.

    5:35 I appreciate you trying to lay out some of the price considerations for Legions, however a little more clarity/transparency would be appreciated for collectors that are new to 4HM, Mythic Legions and Cosmic Legions collecting. To be clear: Unless you are ordering the "all-in" packages in advance directly from the 4HM/ Store Horsemen website, then the cost per individual figure plus taxes and shipping comes out to exactly the same as ordering from BBTS, and in some cases BBTS might even be less expensive. It's disingenuous to not compare the net costs (what it would actually cost a customer to receive the item in hand) when you are trying to promote the pros and cons of the actual price of the figures. Not trying to dunk on your video, I think that it's a great way to share your enthusiasm and experience about the Mythic Legions line, but this is a common argument that continues to circle the hobby and it needs to be addressed. The Dork Lair TH-cam channel is probably one of the best resources for a breakdown of the actual costs incurred collecting Mythic Legions 🎉 Cheers 🍻 👏 great topic and video 👍

    • @thestrongcollectors
      @thestrongcollectors  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Maybe for us it's at least cheaper to go through 4H because when I ship to Jordan there are not taxes. So it really depends on what you get, how much, and where it's going. For this recent order, it was about $15 ish to ship pretty much no matter what combo of figures we wanted. I'm sure if it was all in or multiples like that it would have been pretty different. I did a video live ordering the All Stars 6 so you can see the total I think there. So for us it tends to lean towards getting from the source but I've seen the breakdowns where if you split your order into 2 it saves you, it's all a puzzle within itself. International though I think the only reason to go through 4H is to have it earlier but that seems to be where the biggest increases are where it seems much more worth going through an approved retailer.

    The plastic is higher quality than most mass market figures but those other figures don't tell me I have to soak them like a teabag before I try to move them. The Horsemen have had those kind of problems the entire time they've made figures.

    • @thestrongcollectors
      @thestrongcollectors  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would say that’s a very fair con with them. It’s not going to stop me from getting them but I would prefer figures that are ready to go right out of package.

    Great video guys. Since your interests have been viewed on YT, I have been extremely curious on this line of Mythic Legions. There is an allure towards deco and sculpt that intrigues. Yet the price comes into play that is very prohibitive. For perspective, I live in Canada. Add $20 to most of the US prices per figure. Nearly $30 more for some. My space to display is extremely restricted also determining that I have to be just a fan of the line. The sculpt, deco and accessories of the Mythic Legion line appears to deliver a worthy product for the price paid. That isn't very common nowadays.
    Another line that has left me tremendously impressed has been what FuRay has been producing. So far Veteran William and Blade Master Wen have looked incredible in their reviews.

    Great video. Fell in love with ML during their original Kickstarter but was cautious at first. Didn't realize the amazing pedigree the 4H guys had over the years but I was afraid of getting snake bit like when other toy Kickstarters failed and took fans money.
    Since then I've really enjoyed the quality of the figures and have bought 8-10 ML's to add as mythical monsters in my Castlevania figure collection. Perfect for Skeletons, Minotaur, Cyclops, Axe Armor baddies from the video game franchise!

    • @thestrongcollectors
      @thestrongcollectors  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There is a lot of reuse in parts but with Mythic Legions it's a lot more fun because the parts are meant to be modular. That's where I think the most fun come in with them. You have to sit down take a figure all the way apart to know you can, put it back together, and then start thinking of cool swaps. Or see what other people do and then copy. That's the main reason I bought a Hagnon.

BTW, what’s your username in the Cabal? I’m a regular on there. I also agree that you should be allowed to be critical of Legions. 37.00 for a Mythics Legion figure is cheap considering the height, detail, modularity, etc....They seem cheaper than should be. A Mezco is 100 on average...go figure. Marvel Legends is not high premium figures...comparing Marvel Legends with Mythic Legions is unfair. Maybe Mezco would be a better comparison or even Three Zero.

    • @thestrongcollectors
      @thestrongcollectors  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think they are all fair to compare. Really I don't think Legions could go much higher than they are right now especially the retail price. The modularity is really cool and although ads to the fun there's no chance I'm buying a figure at $100 (Mezco price) because I need the armor parts for a pop and swap for something else. I think Legends are a good comparison because they can beat Legions in some categories: price, articulation, and character recognition.

      @salookie8000 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@thestrongcollectors - Yeah the reputation is just one factor of multiples that indirectly affects the supply and demand thus the price. In actuality the price of the toy is determined partially by the cost to produce them per figure and marketing cost (t.v air time, magazine publications, conventions, etc) of Marvel Legends. I would assume could be higher production cost than a small company that has fewer staff members to pay.
