As Americans we may make jokes and entertain ourselves with some light-hearted ribbing of our Canadian neighbors, but, by God, we are SO lucky to have friends like them! The way they helped us in this, our time of need, was WAY above and beyond what could possibly be expected of them! And as such I'm afraid it's a debt we can't possibly repay in full. So all I can say is: "Merci, mes amis!"
I hadn't heard the detail about the striking bus drivers coming off the picket line to help without being asked - I have to wonder if that would have happened in the rest of Canada, much less elsewhere in the world. The good people of Newfoundland did us very proud.
It’s a pity that you have linked one act of kindness with a war, that was preplanned by Nuland in 2014 to attack innocent civilians (culture, language, religion and lives). Why not just say the positive and keep the negative propaganda to yourself
People in Nova Scotia complain that Halifax did so much for these stranded people and never got any acknowledgement. The reason, simple, they were organized by the Red Cross, the Salvation Arm, various churches, i.e., Greek church among them, gathered for their own. So different than 8,000 thousand people doing it all by themselves and for everyone. There is no comparison Halifax. All of Halifax or neighbouring sister city Dartmouth did not volunteer like the Gander people did. They just can never be compared. Gander you were just awesome.

I love our Canadian neighbors. Wonderful people.
Humanity at it's best.
Just love and kindness for someone in need of a helping hand.
Thank you Canada, you were a bright light in a day of darkness.
Thank you, Canada!
Incredible story of so many wonderful people.
The World will never forget the great lengths , generosity and kindness the Canadians provided. In true tradition .
Gander the world was watching and you stepped up like few others did well done
God bless Canada ❤
The people of Gander proved that humanity is alive and prospering. Its a pity that guy in Russia doesn't know this.

Gander's population on the day of the diversions: 10,000 angels.
This is what the U.S. does, we come together during emergencies.
All of North America came together...and much of the world. I wonder how it would be today?
