Hey man, you’re videos help me a lot. Just want to throw a pointer your direction. I didn’t read all comments so this may have been mentioned. The shark bite valves are made to press on. Little teeth inside grab the pipe and hold it in place. Clean the pipe prior to pushing it on; otherwise debris on the pipe can interfere with proper teeth grip if you will. Also the decorative flange, is actually the tool you can use to remove the shark bite valve if ever needed. You put it on backward, if that valve was ever pressed into the wall that flange could loosen the valve and cause a leak. It’s suppose to cover that yellow ring. Just a heads up is all. Awesome videos!

You make everything look so easy.
I've changed the faucet in my kitchen recently. Man, if you do not have the right tools, it is a nightmare. And the drain pipe broke half the way (it was an old jerry rigged one with duct tape), got to run to the store while standing in knee deep water :D Such fun times. But it made it extremely satisfied when everything was done.

First thing I usually do when bolting the toilet to the floor is I usually will add a small rubber washer between the nut and the plastic cap retainer that way I can tighten the toilet down till I see that nitril or rubber washer start to squeeze out and I stop tightening at that point. Next is for the Toilet Supply Line I always leave the tag on so that way in the future it's easier to know exact what supply line you may need and makes it easier for the next plumber if it's not you later down the road. Fun video though!

As always great video just as a reminder to people. If you can keep the guard on a grinder. In the rare event the disk explodes it hopefully will not slice through your hand. Had a disk explode once. Guard helped me there a ton. Other than that great video!

Great video as usual, but i have two comments:
1- the paper label on the flange should have been removed as it was located right at the glued joint
2- the metal washer should have been on top of the plastic one and not the other way around

didnt use inside cutter wheel, flange is too far above floor, toilet might rest on pipe instead of floor (may be allowed but not best practice) also squeezes out too much wax. Didn't remove label from flange - glue will not work properly.

I just moved into a house in Mexico and a few contractors have told me I need to put down concrete/plaster instead of the wax seal. I have changed a toilet before, but never heard of laying concrete down instead of a wax seal. One said, it was because little critters can come up through the plumbing and eat through the wax seal and provides a better seal. My question is, Is it absolutely required to use concrete? or have you heard of this before? it's so much faster and easier to just use the wax seal just like you did in this video. Also I just subscribed and love your videos! Thank you!

The last step about adjusting the water level in your toilet is important. If you don't do it properly, and your water level is too high, your water will be constantly running trying to fill up that toilet tank. This will waste tons of water. Speaking from personal experience and had to pay $100's on the water bill, as well as waste water!

All good tips except using a grinder with cut off wheel for the long bolts. The sparks are hot and damaged the porcelain surface. Luckily it's not really very noticeable due to the position of our toilet. Maybe an oscillating tool with appropriate blade would be cleaner.

You are handsome in that glasses, :-))) 1st, there is a toilet waiting for me as well in my basement. I wonder if toilets built with integrated tank be better than separated tank? reduce one joint and still light enough to handle. I actually did not know the exact interface between the drain and flange, thanks for the heads up knowledge. 2nd, reason I click this video at this time is your video, reason I like your video besides learning knowledge is the way you speaking ----positive. I learned from life, stay away from negative people and avoid speaking negative to let myself become negative.

Have you done a ‘how to remove a toilet video?’ I’m thinking about retiling my bathroom floor so need to take the toilet and pedestal sink away so I can tile and then reinstall them

    Hey Jeff,
first off, I love your channel. I have learned so much from watching your stuff.
I purchased some luxury vinyl flooring to install in my bathroom. The original floor is cheap and thin laminate (4mm) and the plank flooring I bought is thicker (7mm). Will there be an issues with installing the toilet? Should I be concerned about a gap between the wax seal and the flange?

I Thank You Sir now I'm ready to put that toilet in but I have one question which do you think I should use the rub or wax seal

Should i put closet flange on my concrete and tile around? or ontop of tile? you do both ways, which is best?

I noticed Jeff did not screw the closet flange into the tile and sub floor after he cemented it into place. Is it not necessary to anchor the closet flange into the sub floor?

After gluing the flange to the pipe do you not screw the flange to the floor? I thought I saw 4 screw holes but didn't notice screwing it to the floor. Seems it would make the toilet more stable.

Will using an inside abs fitting cause more plugging issues do to the smaller pipe diameter (2.5 inches instead of 3 inches that you would get if the flange connection was glued to the outside of the 3 inch pipe?

Is it not necessary to seal the bottom of the toilet? I mean between the floor and the base of the bowl?

Hi Jeff. NIce video. I was always wondering if there is a gap between the cistern and and wall, will it matter?? I am just curious the fact if some one heavily leans agains the cistern, will it not break? Your advice would be much appreciated.
