Yes Millie it's so cool how high up some of these mountains are. I recently drove up to the peak of Mauna Kea in Hawaii at 13800 ft. It was above the clouds and the air was thin. The temperature was around 36°F (2°C) in August!

After seeing the title, I hoped that Devils Kettle would be included. That's a spot where the Brule River splits in two as it goes over a cliff, and one stream splashes down in a basin and flows downstream, while the other stream disappears into a cave with no known outlet, and disappears.

Yes, people live on the water like that in 'house boats'. On lakes, rivers, etc. It's really popular to live in houseboats in the Pac NW. Seattle and Portland have many people living in houseboats.

You can rent some in Seattle for 8 grand a month. We had some friends who were looking to rent...it was a pass from them. The PNW is beautiful, I think, but the cost of living is very high. Go Seahawks!!

@@shirleybhs9zd6li5idepends on where you live in the PNW. If you live in a major city like Seattle or Portland the cost of living is way too expensive. But I’m about 60 miles from Portland and bought a house on 3/4 acre with a river in my backyard and a seasonal stream for really cheap.

Yes...people live in floating houseboats on Great Slave Lake. But the lake freezes nearly half the year. Both of the waterfalls are very untouched. The issue there is geologic and not man's intervention. Most mainland waterfalls are flowing over stone such as granite. Plants are going to find it difficult to grow there. That is why you see exposed stone.
Whereas Hawaii is volcanic. Volcanic rock crumbles much quicker. Volcanic rock crumbles into volcanic soil which is rich in nutrients so almost immediately plants will take root. Thus even the cliffs in Hawaii are usually green due to the vast plant life growing naturally.
Please go to Hawaii for your honeymoon.

One of my favorite natural features in North America, is that large ring-shaped lake in Quebec. Technically, the lake itself is not strictly entirely natural, as its level has been artificially raised using a dam, to create a fresh-water reservoir, which joins up what would otherwise be two separate lakes. However, the annular shape of the lake is entirely the result of the natural topography of the land.

The reason I ask is because I’ve heard people say they would never visit because America is “too dangerous” and I wanted to ensure you that it is not, don’t believe everything you’re told by the media, America is the most beautiful and free place in the Planet and you should definitely experience it at least once in your life.

One of the oddities of the Mississippi / Missouri River discussions, is that at their confluence, the Missouri is the larger river -
thus, by conventional standards the Mississippi would be considered a tributary of the Missouri, and the river that reaches the sea would be called the Missouri -
but for a number of historical reasons, that is not how they were named -thus the discussion of the "Missouri/ Mississippi river system".

Millie, when I was attending High School in the San Francisco Bay Area of California, my school was up in the hills at an elevation of 1125 feet, whereas my home was in the lowlands at an elevation of around 50 feet. I would take the school bus to and from school. Some days, it would be raining or foggy at home in the morning, but as the bus drove up the hills to the school, we would drive through the clouds and then above them, where it would be nice and sunny. It would feel strange when I arrived at school, and I would look down the hill and see a blanket of clouds obscuring everything below us from sight. It is similar to the view one sees when flying in an airplane above the clouds, except we drove above the clouds.

The "stilts" that you are referring to are actually called "Pylons". It is not unusual to build a house on pylons. Many houses on or near the beaches of mid-Atlantic and Gulf Coast of the US are built on pylons as their foundations. These areas are in the severest of flood zones. Home insurance policies sort of mandate homes be elevated if insurance is desired.

The United States has pretty much all environments. Tropical Rain Forests, Sandy & Arid Rocky Deserts, Cool Temperate Woodlands, Hills, Mountains, Prairies, Arctic Tundra, Swamps, etc. It's huge, and we do have some really amazing things here. A lot of people from other countries are amazed that so many Americans don't travel to other countries or don't speak other languages. The closest border to me is Windsor/Detroit, 550 miles/885 km away. And I'm exactly 1,111 miles from Mexico. I don't really need to speak a second language or travel to a different country to see interesting sites (although, I HAVE been to both Canada and Mexico, but I was a Tour Bus Driver).
The Missouri River is longer than the Mississippi, but you can't take larger vehicles up the Missouri because of the changing sand bars - a tremendous amount of sand and silt flow down (It's nick name is "Big Muddy"). It's not really even safe to swim in because of the constantly changing banks. The 'Mighty Mississip' is, on average 1 mile wide, and at it's widest, 11 miles wide!
Lake Superior is actually larger in surface area than all of Scotland.
Great Slave Lake is more than 2000 ft (610m) deep. that would be close to 30 atmospheres - 415 psi (2850 kpa).
The Big Cypress/Everglades area is roughly the size of Greater London! A huge swampy mess! ;)
I don't really understand how waterfalls work. I mean, yes, I get that water evaporates, and is taken to the top of the mountain in question and it rains into the basin/river system, but the sheer amount of water is baffling - Niagara Falls for instance; More than 168,000 cubic meters of water flows over the crest every minute! That's a LOT of water that has to evaporate downstream and rain down again. It's just astounding.
I've seen Old Sow. We took a tour boat through it. It's...fun.
I've always considered Greenland it's own continent.
Although Mammoth Cave is in Kentucky, Tennessee (where I live) actually has more cave systems. Many geologists and cavers believe the Kentucky and Tennessee cave systems probably link up, we just haven't explored them completely. The Caves of Vietnam are the only larger system in the world (if the KY-TN systems do connect, they would be the largest). The largest Underwater Lake is in Tennessee/Georgia. I've taken a boat ride on it. Amazing!
A few years back, I was reading about a newly discovered underwater cave system in the U.S. The people exploring it were so excited when they found an air pocket as big as a room...and they discovered Native American artifacts in it. Native Americans had explored the system using animal skin bladders filled with air hundreds, if not thousands of years, earlier! How they did something like that without a water-proof light source is beyond me.
Mauna Kea has an Observatory on top - it's one of the clearest, light-free areas in the world. A few years ago it's where the weird interstellar visitor, ʻOumuamua , was discovered.
The Grand Canyon is of particular interest to Geologists and Paleontologists because it's mostly clear of vegetation, so it's easy to see the various geological layers and easy to find dinosaur (or whatever) bones.
The Original Poster has the lengths of the Landscape Arch juxtaposed. It should be 290 ft / 88 meters. He has 88 ft / 290 meters.
Good Vibes for the Baby!!! Any Day/Minute now!

Mentioning alligators. Some friends used to be bridge inspectors for the railroad here in south central United Stares. They (two people normally did each inspection) had to wade in streams and swamps to inspect the bottoms of bridges. I think each bridge had to be inspected twice a year. Anyway, they had to deal with snakes, and once in a while alligators. One day, having heard that an alligator had been spotted in a swamp they were wading made them already nervous. They carry these poles with big hooks on the end to reach up and tap on the bridges, testing for weak areas. His partner was wading behind my friend, and reached out with the pole under water and grabbed my friends ankle with the hook and pulled. He told me later that my friend yelled and ran towards their boat they had pulled partly up on the bank, jumped in it, ran, fell and crawled all the way up it and out onto the bank. His partner was laughing so hard he said it was all he could do to keep from falling down in the water.

I won’t even go into the Natural Bridge or Luray caverns near me so there’s no way I’m going into the other cave systems in the country. Much less underwater caves! NOPE

Gotta know that this mobile video in the US citizen he actually said the Canadian side and the American side Canada is an American country therefore Canada is also the American side there's no country on planet earth called America! Look at a map of North America the three biggest continental countries are Mexico of America United States of America Canada of America the only one that has America in its name is the United States of America because when it was founded it was the only country on the continents.

I don’t know why he is including Mexico, it is in Central America and not North America. What they have is cool but doesn’t fit the description

I assumed he was referring to continents. In the beginning of the video, he specified " North America."

Central America is a political designation not geographical. He is going off the continental plate that underlies all of North America. Mexico is also not a part of Central America. Central america starts just beneath Mexico's border.
