  • You can find a lot of silver plated pieces at garage sales and thrift stores but most of the time they will be highly tarnished. In this video you will see the before and after transformation of some pieces that I found at the Goodwill Outlet. If you have additional tips please leave a comment below! ;-)

I soak my silver in vinegar and water. I have flatwear with a tulip design at the ends. Vinegar has always been my go to. I just wondered if there was a way to KEEP them shiny so I do not have to work so hard at keeping them tarnish free.

After you have cleaned the flatware, keep it in an air-tight ziploc bag. It's the exposure to oxygen that causes the tarnish.

I heard food grade mineral oil helps keep tarnish away for the most part

Using a magic eraser sponge will scratch off the silver plate. It is an abrasive.

The Colgate brand is the one with peroxide in it and the bubbles display on tube. ENJOY

Thanks for showing this good job.. I am not sure of the name but it’s sold in the jewelry section like Walmart it’s a pink paste I forgot all about it till now. When I was a kid mom made us kids clean her silver before the holidays it was a hard job.you can also buy a silver cleaning cloth, be sure to wear plastic cloves or your hands will be black. Better yet let Albert do it. Lol♥️. Let me know how that works for you..

I've used Colgate OXY white bubble toothpaste on a soft fabric and gently rub all turnish away; then rinse with warm water and let dry. Perfect for jewelry. Rub holding between fingers followed with a warm water rinse.
