I totally understand what you mean by being done with people telling you how you should feel about something. I grew up with two very opinionated people and married someone who had an opinion on everything. I got so tired of people trying to force me to feel or think a certain way. I never changed my mind, but it just got so frustrating that I stopped speaking up. Also I got divorced a few years ago and couldn't be happier or healthier. Everyone is responding to me so much better now than they used to, and my energy is so much better. I have time and energy for being me.
It's funny my husband was like you, (i am also a person who can have (not always) strong opinions). I spent the first few years of our marriage encouraging him to speak up saying things like "stop agreeing because you know what I want, tell me what you want instead", "are you just saying that because you know I want that?". I was probably a little strong handed but it really helped him move from people pleasing to expressing himself more. I'm sorry your partner wasn't that for you though!
Hi Lydia! Fellow equestrian here 🥰 Love the vlog! Loved the matchy set haul for Romeo, I just wanted to type a little comment as I have been in the horsey world for just over 8 years now and love watching peoples journeys in discovering their love for horses. I just wanted to say that it is so lovely hearing about you wanting to find a special horse for yourself when the time is right! You will find the perfect one and it’ll have a great home with you. From one horsey lover to another it is by far the biggest commitment you will ever make in your life and whilst a horse can be put on full livery and the only care you will have to partake in is the riding, horse ownership goes far beyond that and I have no doubt that you will do an amazing job caring after your future equine but please prepare yourself for the days where it maybe doesn’t go right or the horse is acting up because there’s a bit of spring in the air or you’re knee deep in mud trying to catch the horse in the field because they’re maybe not feeling like being caught on that particular day 😅 They are incredibly beautiful but mighty sensitive and it is so lovely that you have the opportunity to ride Romeo a couple times a week because he is such a perfect horse to be learning on but coming from someone with a similar riding background where I only used to ride a couple of times a week to it now being a 24/7, 365 day thing I can hand on heart say it is both absolutely wonderful and the most exhausting thing you will ever experience 😅 My best advice will be to find a steady horse between the ages of 10-16, something with experience but in the ploddy sense and not the zoomies sense 🙈 And definitely find a quiet yard with a close knit of people that will always be around to help! No matter how many years you spend around horses it will never be enough to know everything, there are still days now where I question my own knowledge because horses really like to throw in some surprises 🙈 I can’t wait to follow more of your equine journey and I absolutely love watching your vlogs! 🐴🤍 Ps.. For chunkier set horses like Romeo weatherbeeta are a great brand! They may not be full or tartan fabric or lovely cashmeres but they are the only brand of rug that have never failed me 🫶
I so relate and agree with your comment, down to the Weatherbeeta rugs 😊 My life revolves around my horses, feeding rugging, grooming riding over and over, every day, up at 1am if one got out of their paddock, off to the vet in emergencies but I wouldn't give it up for anything 🌸
Lydia, thanks to you, I’ve decided to take my annual birthday trip to England this year and it’s been the best decision so far! 🤍 I’m currently in the Cotswolds and it has been so lovely experiencing the beauty of the countryside you have shared online, now with my own eyes! 🥹 Just took my first foot path through the fields here and it took my breath away! Thank you for sharing your lifestyle and the countryside so well. It’s really inspiring! 🐑🍂
Horseware rugs are by far the best ones on the market 🦄 They are truly the ones that fits the best and the quality is great. Me and my family have had horses for over 40+ years and they are the ones we use the most 😍
I fully agree with you about being up and outside when the sun first breaks over the horizon. Several falls back, I was up extra early because I had a new Corgi puppy to house break. I was up and dressed at half 5 and allowing the puppy to run and play in some huge mounds of dirt and compost that were sitting in my front yard because I had 14 older trees being installed. But I was just walking and watching her play when I saw the very first rays of the daylight struggling through the morning fog on the hay fields and I suddenly heard an Owl calling. It took me several minutes to locate him but I did and it was a magnificent huge Barn Owl. He was just stunning and staring down at me from a large Maple tree. I spoke to him for several minutes and it was wonderful! Sadie scampered over to get a pat on the head and bark at a chipmunk that was rooting through the leaves on the ground, looking for acorns. I t was just wonderful. I returned to my cabin in time to release my other dogs out for their business, got everyone fed and back outside and then feed all the porch cats that have adopted me after being thrown out in front of my log cabin several winters back. Finally I got coffee for myself and my day first week of retirement was off to a wonderful start.
I’m watching in line waiting for my children to finish school, and howling with laughter alone in my car. I finally looked up, and the folks around me are giggling at me.
I applaud anyone who takes the time to do closet switch over. I just cannot. For me it’s so much effort for so little time because in Canada our winters are long and summers are short.
Rug recommendations for Romeo: Horseware Ireland or Bucas. Both are of outstanding quality, Horseware has a collection in dark green- looks very elegant ☺️
Oh and I forgot to say that this is for some reason one of my absolutely favorite videos ever that you’ve done. It just got me in the cozy fall mood even though here in America in the northeast it’s very warm today up still in the high 89s for the next few days. I’m now inclined to head up to the attic and get my fall bins out and organize my closet. Along with doing some shopping for new things !
Those are beautiful saddle pads, I love the style of them. Another equestrian here to say that you'll know when you're ready. It sounds like it's really just a time thing - you want to be able to have the time to commit to getting to the stable a lot, or you'll just be paying for someone else to ride your horse. You do have a perfect set up, and honestly lots of really experienced riders just catch ride on other people's horses. It's pretty smart really, they get a variety of different rides, and none of the annoying and costly bits, haha.
Social research has shown that divorce is not necessarily bad for children if the parents are going about doing it amicable. If the parents co-parent and find a way to be friendly with each other there is usually no problem. Divorce can be a blessing for some families..
The research is definitely there to support amicable divorce vs. hostile. However, generally speaking, even amicable divorce still leaves children with some baggage. That said, as a society we act as if anything that leaved baggage or is hard is automatically bad. Social research also show that our ancestors who experienced multiple world wars had better mental health and resilience than present generations. This is multi factorial but I think it also comes from how we have less expectation to experience hardships and struggle, whereas older generations had the expectation that was part of life. Just some food for thought
I love your videos. If I want to watch something that is aesthetically pleasing and calm I turn on your channel. You have such a beautiful home and present a positive perspective. Thank you!
Lydia you are a lovely person. You have some good close friends and a lovely husband. That’s why they are with you because you are lovely. People don’t stick around with people who are not nice. Berkley is so lovely and also Porter . Berkley was making me smile, he kept looking at the camera to see who you were talking to. Porter is waiting so patiently for his dinner . All what you spoke about, I make you 100 % right. You have done very well in life , because you have worked hard. 🏡💖🌳🐶🌴🌿☘️🍂🍁🌾
Lydia - your Gorgeous Lilysilk Moira dresses are pairing beautifully with the Fairfax and Favor Beatrice Blazers. Perfect transition dress to fall - and thank you for the gorgeous timeless design.
Because you wear alot of cashmere and wool sweaters it might be a good investment to spend a little to have your knitwear cabinet lined in cedar wood to repel them
Hello Lydia. Long time subscriber here, since well before your wedding, but I think I've never reached out. I wish to thank you for the constant inspiration (my home, my obsession with the sage colour and my English language proficiency owe you a lot) and general positivity you bring to may days. Lydia! Could you do lemon curd between the layers of your delish lemon cake? A rustic layer of lemon cream cheese or buttercream to finish it off would be the cherry on top!
Can we see Lydia you actually making the cake, it would be so nice to see the ingredients go in and then pop it into the oven, the best part is getting it out of the oven😀

I have lovely big zip plastic bags with lovely prints on and store them in my old beamed cupboard which is a good size with lovely wide old beams on the floor and a cute door to get into. It is storage only and I am thinking shorts and short summer dresses away and getting out colour schemes for winter - caramels, neutrals, jackets and the tones of autumn. I get bored with the Summer clothes and look forward to a change. I also try to cull what i have not worn. Sitting here cuddling my 2yo miniature sausage dog (inspired by you Lydia) 🐶 I loved this perspective chat. Currently going through my own salt path and Lydia I loved your explanation of how you felt back before covid… it really inspired me to trust myself again. Thank you for talking about your own personal growth and keep it coming, you are helping me and so many others xx ❤
I love watching you walk in the contryside! What a glory it is that you share with us the changes happening in Nature! We don't ecperience this in São Paulo, Brazil
Omg the dogs are quickly becoming the stars of these vlogs 😂 my husky would do that too me too hahah and he weighed the same I did but was much stronger hahaha I love doggies ❤
Just started to watch and when you are walking on the field you have 2 orbs with you. ❤❤ It means you have 2 spirits with you ❤❤ I just had to tell you. Going back to the vlog
Premier Equine are my favourite for rugs - expensive but the quality is the best I’ve found and they do combos so you can layer up. They run around 3” bigger than other rugs. I also really like Rambo rugs 😊
Do you think the dogs think you're talking to yourself? 😂 18 minutes into the video, and it's the second time I have this thought 😂😂❤ I love how Barkley( 🤔 ) is looking around and even in the camera 🙂
i work professionally with horses, and have tried an insane amount of rugs! I´ve found out that the pretties rugs with the best quality is either from Kentucky horsewear or Eskadron 😉 and now is the time you should really look, because the new collections are coming out!
Hallo Lydia, just watched your video „ autumn prepatation from last year. Regarding pottery, try out Highland Stoneware from Ullapool, Scotland it is handmade and beautifly crafted with Scottish designs.
Someone needs to tell you this if you really want a bond w a horse to have your horse it has to be every day every day you only you have to care for it and do the feed and the watering day in and day out their highly intelligent beings that know who their person is so you thinking you’ll get your own horse it really won’t be yours unless you do all of that you don’t have the time to commit to a horse their not dogs or cats it’s a huge responsibility they’re so special so I hope this finds you and you think long and hard before choosing a horse who has no say in the matter good luck
It baffels me that u let Barkley behave like that. He is always pushing away Porter when porter laying in your lap and u let him. And the way hes in your face…!?! Its your choise not to have well behaived dogs but I dont understand how u let Barkley dominate Porter. 😢
Thank you Mrs Millen Gordon for our book club discussion. I haven’t read “ The Salt Path” but I’m looking forward to it now. I do believe that if you don’t let life break you then it will make you. Thank you also for the motivation to tackle my closets. It’s so great that you told us about the moth proof bags. I have lost so many beautiful sweaters to those little moths. Love you. 💕💕💕💕
You have a very freeing perspective regarding what is what or isn't shameful. However if everyone thought that way that means you can never speak on a person's actions. Someone could then come into your home or come around you and your family and conduct themselves any kind of way because they determined what is shameful. So the question would be, can you really address anyone regarding their conduct etc because they don't think it's shameful? So then can you address your husband's actions? It can become a slippery slope
Hi Lydia watching now but your answer to your question or reference to the Horse Chestnut 🌰 Tree Aesculus Hippocastanum is it has quite likely got leaf mining moth it was found in Wimbledon in early 2000’s so sad as they look like Autumn (which I love) but! They look like Autumnal in July/August they seem to produce less flowers and conkers (the seeds ) xx
Hi Lydia What’s the lemon cake recipe you use? Would love to make it for my son’s birthday next week. Love the doggies when they show their cute faces on the video.
Love the dogs and love your comments about weather and I also enjoy the seasons. I have noticed the moon too so bright and lovely to see the country shots. The moon is amazing and when I have it in my sights I am mesmerised
Love your lifestyle sharing videos. I am inspired by your overnight hair mask and started applying mine in a much more generous way like you do. Wow! It makes my hair look so much softer and healthier!! Thank you!! Please update how your hair feels after shampooing the next morning as I am interested to know how well this product works. ❤❤
Love it - love the horse merchandise- the numnahs are lovely - fly veils and the brushing boots (not leg splints 😊) The best rugs are Irish horseware - Rambo rugs - 250g (medium weight) for this time of year - but you can get them with changeable linings Premier Equine rugs are also very good
Don’t ever say you aren’t ready for a relationship with a horse. They are all exceptionally wonderful. Get your own and you will feel so lucky and happy!!
Good morning beautiful Lydia babe I hope you Ali and the fur babies are well it's so lovely to see you again I know I,m quite late at commenting I have a really busy day I did my washing then I had to go and get my hair done at my hairdressers anyway thanks so much for sharing such a lovely and wonderful vlog take great care babes❤❤❤❤
Excuse me, what is your steamer ? Could not find it last time you mentionned it. Loved all of this organisation, all of thoses beatiful pieces are 100% my fall inspiration

They are incredibly beautiful but mighty sensitive and it is so lovely that you have the opportunity to ride Romeo a couple times a week because he is such a perfect horse to be learning on but coming from someone with a similar riding background where I only used to ride a couple of times a week to it now being a 24/7, 365 day thing
I can hand on heart say it is both absolutely wonderful and the most exhausting thing you will ever experience 😅
My best advice will be to find a steady horse between the ages of 10-16, something with experience but in the ploddy sense and not the zoomies sense 🙈 And definitely find a quiet yard with a close knit of people that will always be around to help!

Love, love Berkley. He is so funny. He made me laugh si much.❤❤❤
The fur babies are hysterical!!
I laughed so much, I had tears in my eyes when Berkley was jumping all over you. It was hilarious. 😂 xx
My husband and his family get very upset over mothholes in sweaters too. And I am like “it’s fixable “😅
Hello there mate. Where are you walking? Is that a park or a farm? Or woods?
Barkley is just a cutie pie asking for attention. 🐶🐶💓💓
Hi Lydia
What’s the lemon cake recipe you use? Would love to make it for my son’s birthday next week. Love the doggies when they show their cute faces on the video.

Love the dogs and love your comments about weather and I also enjoy the seasons. I have noticed the moon too so bright and lovely to see the country shots. The moon is amazing and when I have it in my sights I am mesmerised

I am inspired by your overnight hair mask and started applying mine in a much more generous way like you do. Wow! It makes my hair look so much softer and healthier!!

The best rugs are Irish horseware - Rambo rugs - 250g (medium weight) for this time of year - but you can get them with changeable linings
Premier Equine rugs are also very good
