On the list you have dungog as listen. How would you say hear. When my wife spesks to her sister she says modongan ko nimo (can you hear me) Shes from davao and her parents were from leyte. Great videos. Thanks Neal
@@Just4Kixs you probably did buddy wasnt picking you up on it. I was just curious if you had the expression my uses. She says the cebuano you use is to deep for her.
@@nealstocker7424 yes we use that expression in Cebuano for sure. Like your wife, im from Davao too and my maternal grandmother is from Leyte. I try to put the Cebuano that have on my videos come from the standard dialect. I really hate mixing my languages, so if there s a word that exists in Cebuano, I will never use English. Sadly, most Cebuano speakers don't even know many vocabulary words in Cebuano so they use English words. If your wife is like that, then I can see why it will be difficult for her to understand her own language.
"Madunggan" = Can be heard Root word: "Dungog" = Hear The full word is actually "Madungogan". Most cebuanos just shorten it to make it sound more natural. i.e. "Imnon" = to be drank Root word: "Inom" = Drink Full word: "Inumon" Sidenote: U and O sound are both pronounced as "O" Cebuano(and most Philippine languages) only have 3 vowel phonemes; /a/, /i/, and /o/. Hope this helps.
You forgot some. :) Gunit can be hikap. Himasa is to wash or bathe yourself excluding your hair. Laag is to take a walk. There are probably other verbs before M, but that’s all I can remember now. 7/14/2020 TUE Morning (edited) Oh, hilom is silent or to be silent. Baylo can be switch.

Salamat! This is helpful. I had trouble finding a good resource of a list of Bisaya verbs online, so thanks for this!
Salamat kaayo for the video! So hard to find good content to learn cebuano!
I know like 7 of these verbs and know play as duwa
Dialectical difference. In standard Cebuano, it's with an L.
I like to hear how the verbs are pronounced, so that we know which syllable has the stress.
Good explanation and distinguishing between similar verbs (eg cleaning vs cleaning face). Very helpful, thanks!
Hi, what's the difference between adto and padulong? Thanks.
Adto is the verb root of go (I will go..He went..). Padulong means heading to..
Basa means wet
It depends on which syllable is stressed. To read = BA-sa (like casa). Wet = ba-SA! (like wus-UP!!)
I'm not sure but halog kinda feels like a tender hug, especially that its normally used in the context of love.
Can you make some shapes in visaya?
Shapes? As in geometry?

@3:40 - I'm pretty sure I said "to hear".
Dungog - to hear
Paminaw - to listen

@@imnotapollo4188 I made videos about this. This video only looks at the raw root word forms of verbs.
It'd be better if the camera was still!

This list is from Tom Marking's source as I stated in the video if you were paying attention.

I know, but you added some verbs as well so I wanted to do the same that it or you missed. :)
Sure... Monkey see, monkey do.

Yep, that’s me. And it’s very annoying that I do that. :)
