Here's the thing with Nightwish, their studio work is top notch, well mixed, sounds good, performances are on point. Then they go on tour and do live shows. At which point everything is turned up to 11 and the entire band just somehow brings so much more. this song live is going to be incredible, that last note? Yikes, glass will quiver in fear.
Nightwish one of those really rare bands, who sounds (my opinion) better live than in a studio. Heck, even this Noise single, I think, they sound almost good as live. Lol.
You will understand everything Floor says if you listen, but don't watch the video. It isn't a mix problem, rather it's just that there is so much going on in the video, it becomes sensory overload. Try it - you'll understand every word.
If you want to do a "try not to headbang"video my suggestions are to use Song of Myself live from Wacken or Shudder Before The Beautiful live from Tampere. BTW Nightwish brought out to more singles, well one is a single called Harvest and the other is the last part of the 2nd cd which is instrumental but amazing called Ad Astra, please check them out Great reaction
I can totally hear what you are saying about the vocal mix. Luckily, she's so amazing live, I'm pretty sure she will sound even better. The internet is full of anonymous cowards... saying shit they would not DARE say to your face. I get "Momma" on some people at times. I ask what their moms would think of they heard them talking like this. Of course they say their moms would be fine with it, even though that's not true. Then, I ask them what advice they would give their child if they came home complaining about someone being mean to them... saying these things to them. What would they tell their child? And then, the real bombshell... how would their child feel if they found out their own parent was actually saying those terrible things to someone else? Of course, I don't expect an honest response... I'm just hoping they will think for one moment before trolling again. It won't stop everyone, but hopefully at least one. Sigh...
Tuomas (keyboard) writes most music and lyrics. In this song (and some others) the lyrics are written in a way that the end of the sentences of the lyrics don't end at the same time as the end of the musical sentences. I think that's the best way I can explain it. And because of that it's a bit hard to follow all lyrics. Especially when you hear the song for the first time. Some Nightwish songs I really started to appreciate after listening to them a couple times and reading the lyrics.
'Headphones would help' xD The message of this song is very much like a 'realitycheck' so to speak. Technology/cellphones can have many pres but also a lot of cons and peopel are too busy with cellphones and technology these times. This song was indeed a little harder to understand lyric-wise and so much lyrics in the songs time span.. This will be epic live O.O I can't wait to see them in November this year, in my own (and Floors too!
I get the whole frequency thing. I'm older and have some hearing loss, it does make a difference in what I enjoy listening to. My tastes have changed a little because of that. For me , Floors vocals are the most interesting because she goes to all frequencies(seemingly). It's said that she has 4 octaves. I have always had difficulty in understanding lyrics, it was Floor that spurred me to better understand what i was hearing. I never grasped the whole vowel changing thing until vocal coaches reacting explained it to me. Here, I love her tone(during the verse), but I have no clue what she's singing, usually the opposite. I think it is like opera in that it's the tone and sound of the voice are more important than the lyrics. I personally really like Floor's mid and low range the best, not discounting high, I've listened to Phantom of The Opera et al. My personal favorite thing she does is coming out of the last verse in Nemo, where she extends the mid range note, absolutely drives me crazy, but I realize that's just me, can't speak to other ears. Another similar place is in the Greatest show on Earth( it comes around 9:40 on the Tampere version). I guess my point is that that Floor can touch you on all frequencies. And we all have them...different frequencies that is.
Hey! Try with the official lyric video of the song Tribal from the same album, the song is pretty cool. Another suggestion is Yours Is An Empety Hope live at wembley 2015
I always want Floors vocals to be really far forward in the mix too. But I think that the mixing choices in this song were purposeful. It reminds me of Devin Townsend’s “wall of sound” style of production. Which, I think, fits with the message here.
Hello Trey, from across The Pond here in England. I enjoyed your reaction, and actually agree with you with regards to the verses. Sometimes, the simpler the sentence, the more impact the words can have. I would call this a 'wordy' track. Floor has had to work wonders to cram all of the lyrics within the framework that the music allows. Their second release from their forthcoming album 'Human/Nature' (April 10th) is the complete antithesis of 'Noise' (but no spoilers). You may note that I use my real name in here 9as do you). Not that I would ever be disrespectful with any of my comments, but I have deliberately done so, because it forces me to 'think' before I post. If your name is there for all to see, then by definition you need to 'own' the words you type. I wish sites like these made it mandatory for all contributors to be visible. It may reduce a great deal of mental anxiety if this were the case. Keep safe and healthy. Kevin
Noise is one thats straightforward heaviest they got so far is "Master Passion Greed" Floor was not part of the band at the time.. and also cause the track is personal it will never be played live... another heavy one is "Yours is an Empty Hope" popular version seems split between the Nightwish Cruise version and the Wembley version. if you react to that one(regardless of version)... pay close attention to the chorus
Please react to Infected Rain and the song 'Mold' It's about all those keyboard-warriors out there. The "sweet girl" that sings has an amazing voice. They're kinda a "sister-band" to Jinjer. 🤘🇺🇸🇩🇰🤘
From what I saw you dislike their pop-like ballads like Ever Dream so I´m not sure why people keep recommending those. Those songs I only heard with Floor so far, don't know how others sing them. All live (if available I prefer Wacken 2013 for overall quality. And there was a live tour...was it 2018?...when the singer had a cold and the energy is a bit lacking, would avoid.) : 7 Days to the Wolves (needs lyrics) Weak Fantasy My Walden Yours is an Empty Hope Song of Myself Ghost River
Nah, just stay yourself, be a knowledgeable, somewhat cynical, socially awkward reactor that you are... you are a breath of fresh air, don't fall for the trap in this clip...
This song and video is a representation of this generations Brave New World/Matrix. From the beginning, in today's society, little ones are 'plugged in' when their parents hand them a phone to keep them pacified, out of their hair, and quiet. From that point it's a vicious circle of being bombarded by the falseness of what to think, feel, and how to behave, "Slave To A Brave New World". There is a real genuine immoral hypocrisy and virtue signaling that is going on; In the video they portray the environmentalist proudly protesting, who in reality is actually submerged happily bathing in the filth that he's protesting. The happy get quick-result pill pusher, who is really a depressed addict. The 'current' image driven ideal of beauty of being a lover of thy self, who 's beauty in reality is all artificially created. The 'child- conscious' mother posing with her 'doll-like' child, when in reality she's verbally abusing said child, caging it with indifference (also an acknowledgment of child trafficking). The 'woke' people sitting as if on pews scrolling religiously through their phones, in reality when one actually 'wakes' or steps differently from the 'crowd- thought' they are viciously attacked by said crowd... those onlooking instead of doing the ethically moral thing and helping the one being attacked uses the opportunity as a photo opp. The king that sits on a 'throne of power' that people present themselves to, in actuality that 'throne' is a golden toilet, a false position of power. Throughout the video, we are visualizing the age progression of that little baby from the beginning that was 'plugged in' until it's an old man who's video feed has just ended, when he passed... next to him is another 'plugged in' baby. A destructive image of the serpent eating it's own tail. The kicker to this video is two things. 1) The dark driving power of evil that is seen throughout the video in the form of the big black ever moving square screen behind the 'kings throne'. 2) All this immoral falsity represented, is taking place in the middle of the true natural beauty of God's creation... yet no one sees or feels that true reality because they are 'plugged in' and made blind to it. So very sad, yet a true representation of today's society. As always listen, appreciate, and enjoy!! God Bless!!!
I think the difficulty in understanding the lyrics is given by the rythm of the song. It just breaks the words and sentence flow making it pretty hard to follow and understand. At least that's what happens to me

Nightwish.....greatest show on earth the tempere live version....stay for the credits

I would like to suggest you to react Wintersun - Sons of Winter and Stars live rehearsal at Sonic Pump studio. Please and peace 🙏🏼😎✌🏼
I’m happy to see newbies, and so many for Nightwish.
FANS....... Let’s make this tour happen for them.
You will understand everything Floor says if you listen, but don't watch the video. It isn't a mix problem, rather it's just that there is so much going on in the video, it becomes sensory overload. Try it - you'll understand every word.
Shit I have a bad problem with me wanting to close my eyes and just get lost in the music!

Now, after listening this about 15 times, I'm starting to recognize this as a Nightwish song. And getting into it, getting the groove 😜🤘
this will be insane live. Its Floor, and Nightwish, as remarkable as it would seem you just know live will be even better

This comment is so real talk @kevin
Now that I know the lyrics I can hear them. I felt like the vocals could be a bit higher in the mix too initially.
I also wish the vocals were louder on this track. Harvest is mixed much better in the studio.

Hey now you can do une misère a hardcore band from iceland 😎 🇮🇸

You should perhaps give reviews of the music you listen to, that you want to share with us... I'm very curious...
Nah, just stay yourself, be a knowledgeable, somewhat cynical, socially awkward reactor that you are... you are a breath of fresh air, don't fall for the trap in this clip...
I'm not an English speaker and I can understand everything she says ... 🤔
Tuomas has a bad tendency to write too many words to be said per sentence IMHO. It winds up sounding a little frantic at times.
💙💙💙 All Hail Floor 💙💙💙

The problem you have is there's too much noise, haha.
My main problem with today's music is the fucking compression that is used and kills all nuance... lyrics get lost in the mix ffs... Stop it!
