the ball machine is a four step process. ignore that and break it down. just train him to drop a ball into the blue bowl on command (machine off). after he knows how to do that, give the "bowl" command as he is returning with the ball.
If Woody is food motivated, which I'm sure he is because all labs are 😯😆🐶💙...when he brings the ball back to you, have him drop it in exchange for his favorite treat... that helps them to learn (just noticed you did that for a bit ..started to type this before getting to that part of the video). Of course you want to watch how many treats you give, don't want to put extra weight on him. But eventually, when he knows the routine, you can move the treats away. Don't worry....I had a chocolate lab and he was the best boy. He would retrieve the ball but also would like to go off on his own with the ball and not return it to me at times. They can be very stubborn😯😆🐶💙. Continue to have patience and fun with that stinkin' cute boy. 😍 🐶.

Woody doesn't need to drop it in the ball thrower, looks like he's trained Mom to do it for him . 🙂 I wonder if you left him alone and watched from inside if he would eventually learn to drop the ball into the thrower?
One of my corgis done the same thing he also thought why retrieve when l get a treat !!! Good news he did eventually bring items back after a while , so be patient Jan ❤
Maybe try one ball at a time mom that may work give my Woody a chance he’s a huge PUPPER but he’s still a PUPPER none the less the best good boy ever 🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎
Does he knows how to retrieve? You have to teach him that first (apparently he doesn't) ....my 9 month lab does a fenomenal job at it but it took me some treats and praising since he was 4 months old 😅😂❤ first teaching him to bring it back, then to drop it, then to wait till I throw it and not jumping on me
Have one of you hold woody whilst the other actually demonstrates it (putting the ball in and running to the ball and bringing it back to the machine. Or let him watch from inside the house as your using the machine by yourself (shows that he can use the machine by himself)
It’s not that Woody doesn’t understand he doesn’t like that noise the machine makes watch how he stands on the side he looks at the machine as if it’s a monster it’s the mouse momma not that he doesn’t get it Woody is very smart my fur buddy baby is a Pawfect Ten he doesn’t like the noise love u my buddy Woody 🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎
Nice vid but a few things: your machine makes noise and the dogs hate that, he hear it way louder then you, second, its a lab, food minded dogs, give him some treats, but most important: you try to learn it him in one step, that's not how it works in his brain, you need to make it in 4 steps, and then exercise the firsts , then second, and so on, after step 4 try step 1&2 together. Step 1: let him bring the ball to the machine. (Power off) The second step is to let him sit next to it. Third step, after the machine shoots the ball, let him pick up the ball. 4 repeat, and repeat and repeat
Awwwww don't be discouraged you're great pawrents. Sometimes it takes a while to learn. ❤❤❤❤❤

When he returns the ball, you should praise him and give him a treat. That way he will learn faster and be motivated.
I luv Woody and his happy, funny videos with his wonderful pet parents💞. Go Woody 🥰
What can I say " such a lab" 😂 🇨🇦
chocolate labs are lovely, kind, goofy, family dogs but not the sharpest tools in the shed either😂

I love it!!! What a great toy. Woody figured it out really fast. Labbies are so smart 🫶🐾🐾🦋
no take, only throw
teaching a dog to drop it is the hardest thing to teach, they love da ball

I think the “bring it back” part is a problem….😂😂😂❤❤❤❤

Tyrone plays football this is too simple for him
Very sweet ❤
I had a lab. They will pretend not to know how to do something for extra attention. 😂 That is the lab life.

Like kids it takes time & repetition
Wood is about 15lbs. to heavy for that thing.

He is having fun with his ball so you keep yourself occupied with the machine 😂
