Hahaha, that's awesome man, glad you're stoked on your bike! I really like mine to! I'm gonna do a bikecheck/upgrade video soon where I've weighted all the parts etc. if you're interested in the details.
Thank you for explaining the High/Low diagram image on the rear shock eye! That’s been driving me nuts not knowing that. I did not know the dimples were unexposed until you made the adjustment from Low to High.....
This maybe a silly question. But watched it twice and re read the description. What is being adjusted? I understand the hi and lo flip chip description. But the hi and lo what? Thanks in advance
I am looking at a specialized status 160 for my next bike since the s4 ( lg ) has 30mm more reach than what I have currently( s3 has 12mm more )but the headtube is shorter by 10mm and the seat tube angle is 1.5 degrees steeper. I've thought about downsizing for this frame. I'm 6'2 and currently on a Commencal HT/AM Meta LG that has a reach of 450mm and is the perfect fit for me. I've been running it with a 170mm Marzocchi bomber. With the shorter reach, I'm still able to keep the front end down easily on climbs. My riding is mainly done on local trails, flowy, small jumps, and rollers with some punchy climbs. I've always enjoyed a smaller bike as I do not ride for distance and I've always liked a smaller frame. What would be your opinion?
I usually ride a medium but went with the small Status. Now I have found that I should have stayed with the medium since peddling is one of my favorite hobbies. I would go with your original size and tweak it from there. Having your weight at the front is always good for peddling.
Hey man, as far as I know the status BB height in the low setting is 338mm and it's adjustable by 7mm, so therefore the high setting should be 345mm. Is this true bud? And in the high setting, with a couple volume spacers do you struggle with pedal strike? Thank you
@@42creativestudio51 Hi thanks for the reply. I am looking for info on max travel fork accepted and shock as well as any parts I may need. The stumpjumper manual for the ST variants give you all of that so I was curious I would be able to have something similar.
@@velvetMXO I understand. I can't give you those numbers but I can tell you two things. 1) I would not fit a longer fork, the headtube angle in the low setting (which you would need use to not have a sky high bb) is already as slack as some DH-bikes. 2) I've heard you can fit a 65mm stroke shock in the rear, don't know if more is possible but agian since you don't want to go up in travel on the front it would create quite the unbalanced ride to go more than that anyways. Hope that helps.
@@42creativestudio51 Thanks for the info truly appreciate. I will keep it as is and ride it until the shocks go out and replace them as needed. The tires where the 1st to go as i had no confidence in the stock wheels.
I think they normally ships in the low position (even though I see someone commented that there's came in the high setting). It's hard to see without taking it apart and the procedure of taking it apart is so quick I would do it if I where you. I have mine in high and I can see a tiny bit of the silver "flip chip" sticking out. I don't think you would see that in the low setting.
Nice clear instructions 👍
I love this bike! Wife caught me staring into mine for about 20 minutes straight last night 😅

No worries, glad I could help.
@@42creativestudio51 I’ve learned the gap between the Yoke and the shock Dictates that position. If there is no gap it is the Low Position.
Just changed my flip chip from low to high on a kenevo.
Great job, easy to follow instructions 👍
Glad it helped you.
Thank you for explaining the flip chip visually with the diagrams on the bike. awesome awesome!!
hi stupid question but is high better like for going uphill and for not so fast descents, ad low for more downhill
The change in HTA from 63.2 to 63.7 means slightly less slack, hence better for peddling hence better for climbing.
Just followed all your instruction... to then realise my new bike was already in the High setting.....
is this normal?
Thanks !
Missed this comment. I think they usually come in the low setting but no big deal either way.
Do you know the torque settings for these bolts ?
Front 10nm, rear 24nm. I don’t think at least for the rear he torqued it down enough

Hi and low BB. The BB goes up, if I remember correct, about 6-7mm. The headtube angle goes from 63.2 to 63.7 (still very slack).
Does the shock need to come off? is there enough clearance from moving the linkage?
I would just let the air out of the shock after removing the flip-chip bolt. 👍
Does it come at high or low?
does anyone know where I can find the specific torque specs for the frame of the specialized status 160?
Thank you!

Do you find you can hear air changing between the shocks 2 cans. When slowly compressing mine does it.
Hey mate , I have a status 160 and it does the same as what youve said above. Shock setup and cycled as per fox instructions. I think it is normal.
Yes I can hear it.

What difference does it make apart from changing the angle?
Raises the BB slightly.
Does high bring the peddles up
yes
Hi, is there a service manual for this bike? I can't find it on the specialized website
Specialized doesn't seem to have any info online. most frame details are the same as the old enduro if that helps. What info are you looking for?
