Thank you so much for this informative video. My mother-in-law passed her 15-91 down to me, and I have been so afraid to do anything with it. I did take it to a reputable repair shop and had them do a maintenance on it. The gentleman in charge told me it was in great shape. I saw a video that said this machine is great for free-motion quilting which is my newest passion. Your video is spot-on for my needs. I will watch part 2 now. Thank you!!!!

It's a fabulous work horse if a sewing machine due to its motor. It can run 8 hours a day straight with no problem. I was gifted a 15-88 which is a Singer was made in 1941 during WW2; it can use electricity,be made to use a treadle and hand handle whiched amazed me. The vintage Singer can get into corners better and their stitches are very tight. I named her Nancy.

@Imelda Williams Here is a link to the 15-91 Singer Sewing Machine Manual: ismacs.net/singer_sewing_machine_company/manuals/15-91.pdf
The directions for winding a bobbin begin on page 12. If you have followed those directions and still get nothing, you may need to consider that your foot controller is not circulating electricity properly. You still hear a noise, but nothing moves. I actually had to order a refurbished one through EBay not wanting to take on the task of rebuilding one yet. If you have a local quilt guild or sewing club, those members usually know where the best repair person can be found if you need more help.

@Imelda Williams the other thing that can interfere with bobbin winding is the bobbin itself. Many of the newer bobbins are too wide for the bobbin winder. Make sure the bobbin tire is making contact too.

Thanks very much sharing, I purchased my Singer 15-91 which I named her Ginny for my Christmas present. The person who remade this from bottom to top with all new everything. I didn't even have pin necks at the sewing machine neck. I brought Ginny home and repaired a vintage clothespin holder and my goodness it sewed beautifully. I loved the back running stitch which amazed me and the inside of an arm hole I can really get into. I am a very Happy Camper
