I saw a reddit post like a year ago from some cracked pathfinder that changed my idea about 1v3s. In a nutshell he said that people are *evasive when running away*, but *linear af when pushing you*, especially if you're hurt. So when I'm at disadvantage; I run to any cover, then pop out as they chase me and try to hurt one enough to make them heal (or ideally knock 1 with one clip). If you can do that, this starts the isolation process, since you're essentially in a 1v2 while the hurt enemy is healing. At this point you have to either fight hard or keep moving around different cover/buildings until you get a knock or a third party comes (If you get thirded try to hide lol). Once you get the knock, in a lot of cases someone will try to play the res. At that point it's a real 1v1 and you have to eat that guy alive. If you can thirst him you have an armor swap riht next to you and only a 1v2 to deal with. From there it gets SO MUCH EASIER. Just don't be afraid to run and reposition until things are in your favor. People will be very linear when they think you're scared
I never thought about that, I always tried to knock one or damage them enough to heal to run but I never thought of it like that. An opportunity to 1v3
Creating isolation is something I've picked up from your previous videos and is slowly starting to pay off as I practice it. Still a way to go but it's helped me out on several occasions. So much so now, I've stuck a little post-it note to my monitor saying "isolation" 😆
One thing people definitely needed to hear was that you can’t win every or even most 1v3s. Knowing when to reset or bail is ok. Especially in ranked when teams are more coordinated. If I get knocked and thirsted in ranked I will get more upset if you try to ego challenge the team that is holding hands, rather than maybe recover the banner later. Even if you don’t recover the banner it happens. Play for placement. Try and pull the team into the third party and either challenge their or use that time to reset the team and collect banners. I do not recommend no filling in trios but I actually do recommend no filling in duos. You can practice isolating two player teams to get two separate 1v1s and learn how to manage the fights that way. It works and will help you in shorthanded situations down the roads
Very concise and awesome tips! I had a game yesterday that I was really 1v2ing and watching this really points out why. I was being smart about playing cover and controlling peeks (who could see me and when) like you said during the caustic fight in the tunnel. Great video!
Before watching the video, I'm guessing if this may or may not be included. While I'm no Apex Predator, I think something that people need to understand in a 1v3 is when to back off. So many times I have my teammates (after I down one member of the team) going, "He's rezzing the guy you downed, go in!" Patience is a virtue. You see many great players learn when to back off from an engagement if they are on their own. It's one thing if you are playing duos, but in trios, understand that there will be one guy rezzing while another is ready to gun you down with God knows what. You can not take both on at once just to prevent a rez (against competent players anyway), they will hear you come, and you will get merked instantly. If they get that rez off, two things can happen: 1. The guy who gets revived keeps fighting with little to no health 2. The guy who got revived will retreat to heal himself Frankly, unless it is final two squads, odds are they will back off and heal. That is still one man out of the equation. You can take that opportunity to heal as well. The best scenario is if you can thirst the guy you downed and permanently remove them from the match and do that to the second guy, but this can not always be done. But while you down one, heal, and then attack from another angle (preferably behind some kind of cover) while they are preoccupied with reviving their teammate. Just my way of going about it. Also, for the love of God people, this game is not MADE for you to be able to best a team on your own. You should not be able to on most occasions, if you could, there would be a serious issue in the balance of the game. More often than not, you’ll get clapped regardless. That’s not to discourage anyone, but don’t get upset at losing these kind of fights.
Caustic is super strong for 1v3’s same with rampart. It allows you to get that essential healing or advantages when they hold pockets. Gas and walls really split them up.
Valk is pretty good aswell cause you can get to cover and high ground pretty easily which can help split up the team you’re versing, I regularly go no fill trios so I can purposefully 1v3 and get more used to it.
i think defensive lagends are the worst for 1v3 movements are the best for it bc u can isolate them pretty easily kill one heal up and repeat let's say a whole team jumped on u at the same time and ur a rampart or a caustic u won't do shit unlike wraith or valk or horizon or even octane
What I've noticed that most better players do that others don't (especially in close tight combat) is how good they are at disengaging fighting quickly healing while on the move and-or hiding then re engaging.
Another tip for you guys: watch tip videos every few months. Even if you know what the tips will likely be. Then think about your game and ask yourself, honestly, if you're doing those things. For me, watching this made me realize my isolation and game sense are strong, but I don't break for time to heal and I do get distracted. So between the 2nd and 3rd on a team, I get killed OR I get the 1v3, but die immediately to the third party because I didn't break for time to heal during the first fight
hey bro, thank you for literally every video you’ve made. my homie & i watch you regularly & implement your tips & in 3 seasons of playing ranked, we hit diamond because of your tips. i was just wondering if you had twitch or anything?
just use cover, it's that easy. if you always get cover it's hard to lose. trying to fight someone who has cover while you are in the open is the worst possible choice, many teams died to this in the video. i had some nice alternator fights yesterday and the reason i won 1v3 was just because 1 block of cover and some high ground, i got them beamed 1 by 1, as i was engaging the player behind the block while the other player was trying to get to me around the block. but skirmishers are good for that, as they got ways to disengage. i'm no skirmisher, i work with my teammate(i need duos back), so i either play crypto and gain info where enemies are, also rescuing and reviving teammates very easy or I go caustic and secure wins inside closed spaces, as if someone wants to push me, he'll be at a disadvantage, also locked doors with barrels makes enemies unable to come from behind quickly.
Slow movement out in the open will keep you from being pinged by players. Im almost always sitting and watching while ADS so I can see where movement is going. Its critical in arenas.
Too complicated. Here's my three simple tips: 1. Aim better than who you're shooting at 2. Master the movement 3. Have high ground when you can. Another thing as a little side tip, don't play to win. instead play and die and see what made you die and improve on your actions in the next game. Doing this all the time is the only way you will git gud. Edit: Just thought of another good one, remember that slowness will make you suffer. Take it from my boi Octane: "Run fast hit fast win fast" (and also loot fast). Oh and learn how to tap strafe its hard at first but when you get it down the shi is op
Mangoes thanks for all of the videos you make. I really appreciate you for these things. My game has really improved since I started watching your videos.
I like the idea of a conspiracy that good players are colluding together hoping you wont learn and preventing you from attaining this valuable information. 🤣
I like how slow to shoot this guy is, straight shots but not trying to just spray. Something im trying to work on myself is taking a breath in those crazy moments and just focus in on my aiming and not trying to just hip fire everytime😂work in progress
Hello good sir! I have a question..what settings you use for your controller? I need to readjust mine i think..also doesn’t help that i have stick drift
My kda is so close to being 2.( I know that's not much in some ppls eyes) which means i kinda learned my way around the game I always struggled with 3-2v1 unless enemies are less skilled or i just luck out somehow. My biggest issue is that i panic for some reason and it really doesn't help.
Only been playing 2 months and this video is good info. Subbing just from this video. Desperately working to get better. Lol I still get excited if I can win my 1v1, but ill Get there. Excited to go through your content.
thank you so much this helped me a lot i clutched my first solo trio game because of u keep up the grind and keep giving us these amazing videos u reckon u could make a movement video
Maaan I’m really thinking about doing a coaching sesh with ya, even if its just the firing range. Very reasonably priced too. I’m newer coming from wz just really started playing about a week deep, but been soaking up all your vids and starting to really feel comfortable in fights. There’s def some reps to get the zig zag patterns of recoil down that cod doesn’t have. Anyways this vid was sick. Isolation is so key and I’m very familiar with that from warzone, but there’s definitely a massive amount of differences in apex between cover, buildings doors, verticality and of course movement all around.
I’m happy people continue to come to this game, I wouldn’t say this game is “underrated” but it’s an extremely fun and well developed game that I feel deserves more, if the devs did more on the servers and the money snags, this game would be many peoples favorite regardless continue to work, this game will last for a long time
It’s kinda funny, when I solo que I seem to have tunnel vision, completely unaware of what going on and end up dying But on fill even if my teammates are on the other side of the map my perspective changes, I start taking in everything that’s happening and can easily squad wipe
Question. Sometimes when all my teammates go down, I usually just run away, hide and see if I could pick up there banners because I know it’s not smart to take that 1v3. Is there ever a time where I should just run, or should I always fight the 1v3?
Only run if the team you’re up against have had time to fully heal, and if they’re aggressive running around holding hands you’ve got no hope winning, pull back and come back, if you notice during the engagement they split up and they’ve all been injured then Il activate my bloodhound special and go for it
If they are all alive with close to full heals and both teammates died pullout and hide so you can grab banners but you can 1v3 but it consists of 1v1 until they are all dead
I respect your channel man fr and Im not here for help but to hear what you have to say. I win 85% of my 1v1 its fucking easy asf and I win about 40% about of my 1v3. Its also about shield swapping too if you can.
top pred here, wanted to learn some tips haha. But the only thing I can do is confirm that what he said was right. Last one is really important btw guys. If you want to 3v1, play meta guns with isolations. positioning is really important. If you're in a spot you wont have good cover then don't fight
I killed a team and was 30 hp and someone with a white shield took my red evo swap while another team was pushing ... He died to them and left the game and i had to run away.
How can I you stop panicking ? I know it’s a dumb question but I play on high lobby against master and pred and idk one mistake and you get roasted and sometimes in a clutch situation you have too many though should I armor swap heal go for the stick with a arc star and most of thoses times I end up making bad decisions because I’m not relaxed enough

Quality content but man it looks so easy playing on a controller. I wish for once on m+k my shotgun pellets would all hit like they do for you. Great advice and video either way!

I hate it when you win the 1v3 then your teammates who left you randomly appear besides you trying to loot ur kill.
Exactly
If they got decent assist points, it’s still okay though
Fr I single handedly took down 3 people by myself and then Valkyrie used her ultimate with Ash and took all my loot and I just left the match 💀
Welcome to apex
What really sucks is having your team8s die wiping the team grabbing their banners and then they leave after
Creating isolation is something I've picked up from your previous videos and is slowly starting to pay off as I practice it. Still a way to go but it's helped me out on several occasions. So much so now, I've stuck a little post-it note to my monitor saying "isolation" 😆

I like to try and force myself to heal mid fight 1 or 2 small cells Instead of full healing all the time
Nah, doesn’t work for me. The tip videos make me overthink everything while I’m in a game and that becomes stressful and I lose.
great tips but on an unrelated note, what's the background song?
im a master tier, didnt hear anything that i didnt know, but this advices rly right and useful, use it. gl
i have been playing solo trios since I started apex. He is right. Except if the enemies are trash, without isolation you cant win 1 v 3s
