If bowser jr was their we would have had a plot hole (assuming mario sunshine is not a tv show) but I don't see why the koopalings couldn't come maybe they are still lkst after being kicked out of the Castle back in super mario rpg

Looking at these bosses again, the Broodals functionally aren’t that much different from the Koopalings. You still jump on them three times, and they retreat into their hats the way the Koopalings go into their shells. The difference is that the Broodals require some sort of puzzle to be able to jump on their heads, unlike the Koopalings, who can just be cheesed by jumping on them immediately after they come out of their shells.

The Koopalings deserve to be in a 3D Mario game, and honestly I wish they were in this game instead of the broodals. IMO They were kinda forgettable villains. Paper Mario Colour Splash gave the koopalings distinct personalities, but the Broodals seem quite bland despite having lines and proper interactions with mario

I always like how their attacks make a sound depending on the change in tone of the battle music. Especially Harriet’s bombs and Spewarts poison spin with his hat.

@@WickedBowserJr Original bosses can be great for new gameplay and if interesting enough can bring more personality, but the Koopalings already have both solid gameplay as shown in the 2D games and have a more personal beef with Mario's gang considering they're closer to Bowser.
They been the bosses since Mario Wii and were used so much since way to easy each time as well

Replace Ludwigs Poison with Fire and put Ludwig in a shell when he crashes around the stadium(and Roy and Morton)
Personally, I'd have Morton in the Snow Kingdom instead of Iggy again.

@Tom Schwartzmans Well in Origami King yes they do have unique characters, even the bosses admittedly. In fact, best of the 3 compared to Sticker Star and Color Splash. But their reasons for not making unique characters is just plain stupid. I get that they want us to see Paper Mario as is, and I do, which is why I love Origami King, but still their reasons for not making unique characters is beyond my comprehension.

@@WickedBowserJr What's a 'filler boss'? A boss you fight before the end boss? By that logic, then, all bosses are 'filler'. You can't deny that the Koopalings are iconic and play a significant role in the Super Mario universe, especially within the last decade. And quite frankly, the bosses in Mario Odyssey were either interesting and fun (like the dragon and Squid King) or boring and uninspired (robot caterpillar/flower robot/Broodals).
If anything, I'd like to see original bosses working WITH the Koopalings in future Mario titles.

The strange thing is Nintendo could have adapted the Koopalings to fit the same roles as the Broodals in this game, just with their standard combat styles!
In Boss Order: Madame Broode 1 - Bowser Jr., using his Clown Car to wield the Chain Chomp.
Topper 1 - Ludwig (of all the Koopalings, he's probably most likely to fight you again), using Topper's Magic Hat Trick.
Harriet 1 - Iggy (known for his unpredictability), weilding the Saucer Helmet like Harriet does.
Rango 1 - Lemmy, riding his ball and balancing a smaller one on his head; both balls can flatten a little to protrude spikes, and are used like Rango's Hat.
Spewart 1 - Morton, one-to-one conversion; 'nuff said.
Rango 2 - Wendy, wearing her Rings like a halo (with wings for an angelic look), and using her Ring Magic to duplicate Rango 2's battle style.
Spewart 2 - Roy, who is usually one-upping Morton's battle style anyway; bigger field and faster movement.
Harriet 2 - Wendy 2 (now she's MAD), combining Bob-omb throwing with a Ring Magic Shield; uses the wings for the aerial bombing runs.
Madame Broode 2 - Bowser Jr. 2: Chain Chomp Boogaloo. Like the first time, but with more Hats.
Topper 2 - Larry (betcha thought it was gonna be Ludwig, didn't you?), creating a tower of clones to swing around; each spin around the battlefield in their shells when seperated.
Spewart 3 - *Now* we face Ludwig again! Spewing magma instead of sludge, and spinning at Roy's acceleration in the smaller arena provides the extra difficulty.
Festival Mecha - This would be identical to the Broodals Mecha; except with *all* the Koopalings _and_ Bowser Jr. piloting it, it would have twice the hits, with two Koopa Kids per cockpit (when the first kid's is broken, they switch with the second in a spare cockpit - when the spare's broken, it isn't replaced); attack stages are spaced accordingly.
There you have it - my reasoning for how Bowser Jr. and the Koopalings could've been implemented instead of the Broodal Family. Note that I have no problems with the Broodals' designs or usage within Super Mario Odyssey, this is simply explaining how the Koopalings could have fit the same role.

The "leader"
The tall, lanky, creepy one (Rango almost looks like he's wearing thick glasses, too)
The big, fat one with a deep, growly voice (seriously, Spewart looks a lot like Morton. Size, body shape, facial structure)
The token girl
And then I don't know which koopaling is wild enough to have a fursona like Madame. I'd say Iggy since he's really out there and also fights alongside a chain chomp, but I already got the idea Rango was his sona. Hmm, I actually feel like Madame would be Iggy's sona then Rango would be someone else's.

Maybe Kamek? Just wanting to join in (or perhaps maybe even the origin for the bunny specific fursona)
I mean, Madam broodal is a lot bigger than the others (Kamek is small, poor guy), and is seen as the head of them (Kamek is quite important, but looks to often not be appreciated as much as he should)
And he has the magic to actually *be* that, instead of the likes of us humans were we have only suits, they provable have transformation spells for that stuff
