In the pattern for the vase there has got to be some kind of mistake in the instructions. I'm sorry but if Row 3 is 1 single stitch and 1 increase you cannot do that 8 times because row 2 is only 12 stitches and there are not enough stitches in the row to end up with 24 stitches.
