- The time has come... we are going to make a mcflurry completely from scratch. A recipe many thoughts was impossible, is now possible and it's shockingly easy to make. And no, the machine is not down today, and it never will be again.

I like how the guy doing the blind taste test isn’t even convinced that the homemade McFlurry is that much better. He straight up says that they’re both similar, just that the second is a bit richer. And then Joshua starts trying to convince him of all the reasons why his McFlurry is SO MUCH better, even calling it a straight up win. Sorry but I’m no convinced it was better either, especially with something as simple as ice cream.

Trust me, I have had homemade ice cream, and it is a world of a difference better than store-bought ice cream. I was literally astonished the first time I tried it. And it was not just me, my whole family was amazed at how much superior home made ice cream is, so much that we all went out and bought our own ice cream makers afterwards.
The only reason why the guy can't taste much of a difference, is because the candy ground up inside of it is masking the taste, and bringing it down to the level of the normal store-bought stuff. If he was tasting unadulterated homemade ice cream versus store bought ice cream of the same flavor, it would be no contest.

Since my Grandfather owned an ice cream stand this is something I could judge very well. He was extremely precise and critical of his product.
When I was in high school, I had an agricultural science class where we made ice cream using two metal coffee cans. You'd but a small can inside a big can, surround the small can with ice and rock salt, and then put your ingredients in the small can. And then we rolled it back and forth for about 10 minutes. The ice cream was delicious. 😋
Alternatively, buy vanilla ice cream and crush some Oreos into pieces.

You actually mix your icecream to get it softer. If you get it in the tub, just mix it coarsely and it gets softer.
Homemade is really good though , there are easier ways to make it without eggs and with cool ingredients just mix them until is foamy and put to the freezer and before it frozens completely mix it again to break the crystals

Personally I avoid making my own caramel as all costs, as it cremates my pans. A couple of snickers bars - one melted and one chopped up is the perfect topping.

I remember the McDonald's near my parents house used to be open 24/7 and back when I still lived at home with my parents I would go there after a night out with my friends and the workers would say they were closed because they didn't feel like working. They were literally the only restaurant that was open at that hour so after that happened a few times I told the owner who was not aware that his overnight employees were so lazy and costing him so much money because they didn't want to work. Needless to say there was a whole new crew there the next time I went during the late night hours and they were open and I got my food. Oops, I didn't think he was gonna fire them all.

Fun fact. I worked at a McDonalds for a summer once. And when the staff says that the ice-cream machine is broken then they are lying. It isn't really broken.
The ice-cream machine is probably the most sturdy and repairable machine in the store, the reason they say it is broken is because it takes about 3 hours to clean it. And you gotta clean it every day when used. So we just said it was broken, just to avoid cleaning it, as you can only clean when the store is closing, and when it takes 3 hours you have to do overtime, and you don't get paid for overtime most of the time.
If you're not getting paid for overtime you should probably report that to your states labor board

Lol I currently work at a McDonalds, and if we say that it’s broken than it is broken but we fix it as fast as possible, I guess it depends on the employees how to deal with things 🤷🏻♀️ also we get paid poorly too
Edit: don’t know if you have a 24/7 open McDonalds where you live but they won’t be able to sell ice cream or shakes 24/7 either bc it has to be cleaned obviously

Plus we had to run a special type of cleaning goo, idk what it was but it was kinda like goo, and then let it run for two hours ish, and then we had to rinse it out again

While flurries arent very difficult or flavorful, nothing beats the experience if having them on a hot day with your family and friends, or sitting in home at night watching tv. Like street food, its not scientific, its the experience.

tbh I think he was actually serious when he said the mcflurry had no flavor. I made his hot chocolate recipe and it was way too sweet for my tastes even without the extra 60 grams of sugar. I think he just actually tastes things less easily.
@@lilly_koii idk. Iits definitely fine, but i think its just the lack of vanilla he is referring to. I think the oreo one is perfect, as it does add to the ice cream itself rather than hard chocolate pebbles mixed in.
I think that everyone of us went to McDonald's and asked for a McFlurry but was told by the staff that the machine was down, but there is nothing you can't make at home, particularly if you are following a talented cook. Joshua, thank you for your appetizing recipes and the testimonies you bring at the end of your videos to ensure credibility. The hard part is having enough ice, a $7 vanilla bean, a place to store a huge metal bowl, etc. The McDonald's drive through is 4 minutes away from my house. Really, I can get two McFlurries and enough gas for my car for less than the price of a vanilla bean, and have it back at my house in 15 minutes.

I had a friend that worked at mcdonalds about 3 years ago, and the mcflurry stirry machine was always broken (the whole year he worked there). So he and all of his workers just stirred it by hand, and if they didnt like you (or just didnt feel like it) they would just say the machine was broken

As a Dutch person I have to comment about the bland seeming stroopwafel waffles. I think you missed the spices in there. I know for sure there is at least cinnamon in there.

@@noahwilhelm5482 why would you compare a chef who is making 1 milkshake to a company that mass produces milkshakes for millions of people everyday. Its almost like 1 of those parties is not going to put as much love into each individual milkshake and instead choose to make them cheaper so more people can have them. If Joshua owned McDonald's the mcflurry you would get is not the milkshake he made in this video. Whether or not he's a good chef if he was mass producing anything the way McDonald's is he would change it up

I don’t know if it’s just me but it looks like he gets the worst served food or the food is not as good as it usually is because the stuff he makes looks amazing and probably is but all he does is say how his is completely better. These companies make food so that we don’t have to make it better.
As someone who makes tons of ice cream for the ice cream store I work at...I approve
I put the mix in a KitchenAid mixer and pop it in the freezer and every couple hours pop it in the KitchenAid and give it a mix until it's to a desired texture. Since most people that cook use a KitchenAid already, it's free and it works like a charm
