I guess you have worked out the local’s nods now. Just begun the vid and it is taking me right back 43 years ago when I was young and free. I can’t imagine how cool it would have been to rent a Tuk Tuk. Never stayed there in such opulence but didn’t need it back then and obviously wasn’t available. We felt spoilt at $2 per night back then. Lovely people. Healthy food. Hope they still have the hashish available. So sweet.❤❤Thank you for taking me back.
Loved loved this vid! My son and I are coming on an Intrepid tour to Sri Lanka n March! And coming to all the places you have shown ! So excited! The quality of your vlogs are wonderful! And I love the choice of music! It is Just Right! Stay safe..and Thank You both.
Everyone seems quite friendly there. What beautiful places you got to stay in. It really looks like a lovely place to visit. Thank you Lloyd and Mandy. ❤😊
Very close shave with the drone and the overhead line. Nice videos. Good balance between talk and scenery. We are there in 5 weeks. I am guessing that you get to stay in the luxury accommodation for free. Amazing views.
You guys are great as always. I know TH-cam works in mysterious ways, but just a heads up: I did not receive a notification for this video, despite having the bell checked. I hope it was a glitch. Looking forward to the next one!
From 2012-2020, everywhere I had traveled in East/Southeast Asia I felt safe in each country: Indonesia, Malaysia, Cambodia,,Vietnam, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand. I’ve never felt threatened while traveling as a single, solo female traveler. But, then again, I practice safety first by not going to bars by myself, not showing a wod of cash in public, not wear expensive flashy jewelry, not throwing money around, not going out late at night walking in dark areas. Just using common sense goes a long way while traveling alone. Only one time in Malaysia I almost got pick-pocketed. I was aware of it before it happened but it just make me more cautious.
I’m so glad to see you guys visited Nuwara Eliya, many foreign tourists skip there and go to Ella for some reason, I don’t know why. If anyone planning to visit Nuwara Eliya after seeing this video, I recommend to stay in “Little England Cottages”
nice I saw two buddhist temples, one hindu temple, one mosque and one church in nuwaraeliya city ,good to see all major religions co existing together at lankan cities
yes in sri lanka healthcare and education is totally free, ambulance fee is free, university education is free, uniforms are free, text books are free, and( some schools breakfast is also free,)and all the low to middle income families can register their kids to a gvmnt programme called '' shishya aadara'' (basically means student funding) and monthly gvmnt give them money for their bank accounts and if you wanna go to a private university , SRI LANKAN GOVERNMENT give a loan without interests ,as I know even in that loan , 50% is off . so we just have to pay 50 % of the loan without any interest fee, all we have to do just pay that after we got a job little by little back to the gvmnt , POV private schools and private hospitals are nt free and only for private universities, we can get that gvmnt loan.
Just watched your video about SL. It was so lovely. Mandy looked amazingly radiant, happy and so relaxed. Lloyd was so brave to drive a Tuk-Tuk in the crazy streets of SL. So lovely to see you were offering lotus blossoms at the Kandy Temple.🙏🙏 It was absolutely to see that fantastic data had been divulged by both of you relating to places to stay, food and prices etc. This will encourage many foreigners to visit SL and enjoy its hidden gems. Thank you so much. Take great care. Lots of love from UK♥♥♥
Sorry I laughed so hard Lloyd I had to back it up and watch you bump your head again! I don’t know how Mandy wasn’t laying in the floor laughing! The look on your face was priceless! Love you guys❤️
Hello Lloyd & Mandy, Congratulations to both of you for doing this wonderful video about Sri Lanka. I'm sure you might have visited many other places of this very diverse country. One has to travel only 2 to 3 hours and your eyes cannot believe the change. So diverse. According to the Tourism Development Authority there are more than five thousand places (yes, 5000) one could visit on this island. One travel expert described that the islands in the Indian Ocean are so beautiful; they are Seychelles, Maldives, Andamanen, Lakkadiven, Sri Lanka etc.. Sri Lanka is famous for its beaches, ancient heritage sites, Art & culture, waterfalls, wildlife, natural beauty, gemstones, spices, festivals & a wonderful rain forest. You name it, we have it!!!! Please visit this island again and engage in a round trip. You can plan another tour without the places you've already visited (without overlapping) and I'm sure you'll be surprised how many new things you will see. All the best.
To stop fogging the best thing you could too is get a bowl of warm water add a cup of vinegar and a drop of dish washing liquid, wet a piece of microfiber cloth in it and squeeze it out and wipe the widescreen down and repeat the process 3 to 4 times.. cheers
During the second world war, the headquarters of South East Asia Command under the Late Lord Louis Mountbatten as Supreme Allied Commander was sited at the Royal Botanical Gardens of Peradeniya, Kandy. The South Asia Command headquarters consisted of a number of buildings scattered over a large area of the Gardens around the Great Circle. (Thanks to the " The Sunday Times"lk). Probably you guys had been walking in the same path where Mountbatten had been walking early in the morning enjoying the heavenly breeze.
Well so glad you got to Kandy and Nuwara Eliya...between 1950 and 1960, one of the beautiful places we lived in for about 3 years. Crisp weather at times..but remember bathing in the clear mountain brooks. We lived in many places around Sri Lanka as my father was the environmental engineer for most Waterways in Sri lanka. We left 1960 " Ceylon" ( then), i was 10yr. Then spent 25y in UK, 40 + y Australia. Now I retired, am back in Sri lanka with my Aussie Wife, for a bit. Shame..9 months ago I would have come down and hosted you at our Villa.Yes Sri lanka as described, but I am sadly missing my "Western friends and looking to move again...
Guys try watch Harold Baldr visit here too awesome place thought we recognised the hotel, video title $250 jungle luxury resort, and watch him with the fine white wine man so funny
Kandy is special for sri lankan sinhalese ethnicity and buddhists bcz kandy is their cultural capital , and Its special for all sri lankans bcz its the last kingdom of Sri lanka after british peacefully got the power in 1815 , so its a domestic tourism hub actually, I dont know how this place suddenly became tourist attraction, even now , theres nothing much to do in kandy other than learning sri lankan culture , enjoying the views ... sometimes its hard to bring western fun concepts(bars, pubs etc) to sinhalese cultural capital KANDY and to tamil cultural capital JAFFNA , have a nice day good luck
Hey guys, the videos are amazing. You Guys doing a great job. Just wanted to know if you needed any special permission to fly the drone in Sri Lanka. This piece of information will be really helpful for us to plan our visit Srilanka with a drone. Thank you and hoping to see some more beautiful destinations through you guys.
Hi guys love your channel we are 2 weeks in sri lanka only staying in kandy 1 night decided to stay at ella for 3 nights whats your thoughts ? keep on trucking cheers chris
Just thought to reply as a local. I think Ella is having a more touristic vibe than Kandy. and in Ella you get the mountain view, Nine arch Bridge, Little Adams Peak, Flying Ravana, etc. Kandy is a lot busier than Ella. But still Kandy has a lot of things to see and experience. One day is not enough I think coz you'll have to rush to cover two three places. 2 days to Kandy and 2 to Ella can be recommended. But if you love the serenity and the views, Ella is the best. Hope this helps you. Have a great time in SL!
Guys, please tell us what you eat (such as at the Hideout cafe) so that we can enjoy it with you. I see footage of what you eat and I want to know what it is.

It was later brought to Sri Lanka from India. Also the branch of the Bo tree where Lord Buddha attained the supremeness, which now can be seen in Anuradhapura as Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya.
