- Journey to DIU island can be done by train. To reach there one needs to take any meter guage train till delvada. This time, I took the Junagarh - Delvada MG passenger which also passes through the home of the asiatic lions, i.e. the GIR Forests of Gujarat. This video showcases the journey in the Meter guage passengers and the world outside that train

55 to 60 kmph speed... ha ha.. can we consider this passenger as super fast passenger...Nice video and this brought back our 70s memory of travelling in steam hauled express trains and later diesel hauled trains. It is really amazing at that time to travel in the very first coach coupled with engine...it is different than sitting in other coaches...
At this speed, some years back, this would have been express!

I had traveled from Ahmedabad to Veraval and the Sasan Gir via train in 1990. The routes in interior Gujarat were all MG then. And proper overnight trains with multiple classes used to run. It was magical. Quanit, old, well maintained stations. Fafda and jalebi with mirchi and hot tea served fresh at every station. It was cold dec trip. Its a pity the project uni gauge has taken away such lovely metre gauge journeys.
Uni gauge is most un realistic thought. Uni gauge was the idea of not changing the train from one platform to another. But reality is people have to change the stations itself. Like in Vadodara, we get gown at vadodara and then travel by road to pick up another train from Pratap nagar or chhayapuri. Utter non sesnse.

It’s a wonderful virtual journey.You have brought in rustic rural Gujarat landscape. You are different from the bloggers who stick to trunk route travelling AC coupe eating all the time and commenting on the stuff they eat and all the while giving little info on real journey.

Have been planning to do this railway journey for months now without much relevant information but this video has given me some good insights for the train journeys to all the three major routes - Amreli, Veraval, Delvada and obviously from Junagadh. This journey makes you to know interior Gujrat state and its stations enroute.A small train with wooden seats and maintained a consistent fastspeed as well.

How do you get this clear track sound?
I've tried to record videos but always get windy sounds in the microphone.
Please suggest how you make this possible?
check whether your phone's stock camera app has external microphone support, if it has then just use an earphone and place the mic of that earphone away from wind.. if your stock camera app doesn't support external microphone, the you can use some 3rd party apps like 'Open Camera' from play store and it supports external microphone in almost all phones. but Electronic image stabilization probably won’t work on that app. also if your phone has multiple lenses, for example wide anglle lens, telephoto lens and all, probably only one will work with 3rd party camera app 😇

Beautiful video. There is something special about meter gauge train travel. I was also saddened to see the dilapidated condition of the station buildings and the platforms. I hope the authorities take note and fix it to its past glory.
Most of such sections all over the Indian Railways are running in a loss and there is no scope for renovation or maintenance. The government is forced to run such trains as a public facility.

I have travelled in meter guage so many times in my childhood. counless times from bangalore to arsikere, hassan etc.. YDM and Steam locos.. good old days in 1980s.

Heritage mg line with semafore signals, token exchange, only thing missing is steam engine. I travelled this route in 1984 when there were steam engines. Otherwise there is no drastic change in overall scene, only small stations have declined.
They should have a steam engine there (oil fired), which can be attached to train occasionally.
Nice video. It seems Indian Railways has forgotten to maintain the stations enroute on this so called heritage track. The stacks of wood mean that a lot deforestation is being carried out in this home to the Asiatic lion. But who cares in our country. The only thing we are good at is

YDM-4- The locomotive I spent my childhood seeing come and go through my city. The sound of it's Diesel engine - I could recognise it among dozen other noises.

It's a beautiful journey like travelling in old times. Seems I was travelling in those 50 years back trains. But why in this digital time some stations here are so dull & unmaintained . They looks ruined, & haunted?

Good that they have declared this route as Heritage and will preserve the MG trains. All those station buildings on the route have to be restored to their old glory (should not build modern station buildings). Amazing journey you covered.
