A 2006 Autocar article I read on the C6 generation S6 V10 said that “exhaust restrictions and corporate politics dictate that the S6 gets ‘just’ 429bhp.” Now I get the exhaust restrictions bit, *but what does the ‘corporate politics’ bit have to do with the S6 having less power than the S8, even though it uses essentially the same engine?*
Wait, I thought the S8 had 15 more BHP than the S6 - 444bhp compared to the S6’s 429? And like I said, what do corporate politics have to do with the S6 V10 having less power than the S8 V10?
@@joshbacon8241 That's what I said, Audi would not let S6 have the same power as S8, for S8 is upscale and must be powered accordingly. Now, look at the bright side: a simple ECU tune will yield the same hp for the S6 haha.

My ‘08 Jetta has a naturally aspirated 2.5L I5… it’s still running with 334,000 on it just like new. Only thing I ever had to do (engine wise) was coils and the water pump, which ain’t that big of a deal. Every car has to change coils after 200,000 and it’s super easy on it. So even though it’s not the fastest thing ever, its still really enjoyable and reliable.
2.5 R5 TDI AEL and 2.5 R5 TDI AAT are one of the best's Audi engines ever originally developed and projected by Audi and not Vw as with the 1.9 TDI engine
I'd also include 2.0TDI... Many people say it's unreliable but if you maintain it as intended, change oil and so on on time - it is bulletproof. Got the car at 170-175k km, now it's 244.500 and still runs flawlessly, nothing has been done to the engine lol
My current A6 has the 3.0 TDI and it's damned impressive. Torque for DAYS, and 700 miles on a single tank. It's a bit laggy when you hit the gas from a stand-still, but when it takes up you're thrown back in your seat :D
The first V8 by Audi was the 3.6 (enginecode PT) in the first gen V8/D11 from 1988 to the summerbreak 1991. After the summerbreak you could buy the 4.2 (Motorcode ABH)
Im very lucky to currently own an rs3. The sound this thing makes is ungodly. Its pretty understeery and obviously not that much of a "pure" drivers car but what its suppsed to do, it does really well. its somewhat economic, practical, chills at 200+ on the bahn, overtakes whatever it wants and eats other cars twice as expensive on the dragstrip.

Though the 2.8 which is pretty much an NA version of the 2.7 isn't as fast (190 HP/200 ish Ilb/ft), it's surprisingly reliable. My A4 has 238k miles on the clock and it's still kicking with the stock engine, though you can feel the age of the transmission.
The c6 s6 and S8 you mentioned have even firing 5.2 V10s that are a slightly bored and stroked version of the Lamborghini designed 5.0 engine. The 5.2 V10 in the post facelift Gallardo and Huracan/ R8 is an actual Audi designed odd firing engine.
Major oversight. The 3.2 fsi is a great v6 engine which makes plenty of power and is much more reliable than the 2.0t. Youre turbo and intercooler cant break down if they dont exist.

You mean 2008 to 2012.
A 2006 Autocar article I read on the C6 generation S6 V10 said that “exhaust restrictions and corporate politics dictate that the S6 gets ‘just’ 429bhp.”
Now I get the exhaust restrictions bit, *but what does the ‘corporate politics’ bit have to do with the S6 having less power than the S8, even though it uses essentially the same engine?*
Exactly. How come the S6 has the same power as the S8? Haha. The same goes for C63 and E63 AMG of that time: same engine, but C63 had 60 hp less.
@@joshbacon8241 Man.. It's common in every brand... They implement same engines on different cars because its much cheaper but they have to deliver more for the customer that buys "super exclusive" a8 than a customer that buys "only" "premium class" a6 to make him feel like he is paying for "higher class" thing.
Simple really, as extracting more power out of the same engine usually comes at the expense of low-end torque, long-term reliability, fuel-economy, & of course emissions (What software?)!!!
Correction to 1:50 "The best 4.2 V8" is also available in the B8 RS5 too.
And a B6 S4 shown in the video at this time.
so what... he just sayed b8 rs5 has that engine... and b6 s4 too
Those Audi Inline-5 Cylinder makes really fantastic sound. It can't be made at 4 or 6 cylinder engine, even if it's Inline or V6. For me, that sound feels like orchestra
That's why i choose my Audis by their engine, not the extras list. I still can't forgive myself for selling my 2.3 20v (swaped) Audi 80 b4. The 5 cylinder just offers a sound no other engine can offer. The bang every 144 degree produces a real masterpiece of a noise. However with the years my favorite combination became an A6 platform with the previous generation S/RS 4 engines like the 2.7Biturbo or the 3.0TFSI. Somehow they just go together so well.
That clip of the s8 was amazing
Those 3.0 TDIs are the best sounding diesels
2.0 tdi BMM 8V 140ps with almost 294 000 km. still goes pretty good, makes no problems and it's economical. It's my first ever car and I am happy with it.
Yeeah V10 twin turbo....thats it! 😎😎😎 Total crazy....
Worst sounding petrol v10 ever made
with stock exhaust all engines sounds worst
@@subway5907 best sounding V10 ever made*
Давид Попадић Are u serious?😂 the twin turbos destroy the sound... a Passat is louder than this thing. BMW E60 M5 is the best sounding V10 by far
@@subway5907 I am absolutely serious. I hear all of these cars in real life, and I can say that S6 V10 is louder than M5 V10. And both of them you can't compare to RS6 V10 biturbo. This is loudest tning ever made. M5 V10 is a shit beside RS6 V10. I can say more, this RS6 has sound like a big truck or tank, it is soooo loud. I can say that this is loudest car ever made 💯💯💯
No 3.0T? It won so many awards!
Included that shit 2.7tt motor
@@DuBstep115 maybe because the 2.7 has a huge following and can make ludicrous amounts of power? I think someone got gapped by a 2.7.
@@derpatime11 Try changing a thermotat in 2.7TT.. I'll wait as you have to take the FUKING ENGINE OUT to change simple things.
It has potential? yes is it a good engine? NO
@@DuBstep115 I have a GT28 S4 avant, no it's not the easiest thing to work on. But it by no means is a bad engine.
@@derpatime11 I have seen a 1000hp taken from rs4 2.7 but overall reliability of is a huge pain in the ass.
Oil leaks from everywhere and common fails like EGTs, 02s,seals,turbos. I wouldn't recommend that engine if you don't have deep pockets or some serious DIY guy.
Twin-turbocharged V10, from the factory 🙆♀️ what an amazing engine
Our neighbors drives an S8. Holy crap it sounds amazing. Its loud as all hell too. It sounds like thunder in mid-high rpms.
Took me too long to subscribe. Highly underrated channel
2:07 that v8 and v10 sound is too good. I wish they were more popular.
Even though I don't have an Audi right now I totally love them, when I was stationed in Germany 1998 to 2001 my second car was a 1988 Audi 90 with a 2.3 five cylinder 136 hp the slower one and only front wheel drive, but on the autobahn with any effort that car did 235 klm with out any problems
The 5 cylinder... A true legend. Sounds like angry ghosts.
Visio, if you look to south america scene, you can be really surprised from the cars we use to tune. And the numbers we achieve with those.
So even though it’s not the fastest thing ever, its still really enjoyable and reliable.
gotta love the crazy bunch at audi for putting a v12 tdi in a truck and a 5.2L V10 in a family estate.
Nice video , and I like that you use my old purple s4 in the video
4.2l v8 on the S6 C5 was the best couple, best car.
Love my 2.7t, loved my old 4.2, I think an old 2.2T is in order for the next one
One true love 1.8t AGU ❤️
The last twin turbo 5.0 V10 also came on the RS6 Sedan, not only the avant.
Thanks for gathering all those beautiful sounds!
Vw engines are amazing. The tsi line is great as long as you keep up with the maintenance.
Gotta love the 5 banger sound
the lady and her boy on the right at 6:53 probs had no idea why it was making such a noise.
No, she's telling her son; "Now you know why Daddy loves his Audi more than me!"

@@ragnarokpriest6700 indeed
“Tooth poyn faaaaaive litre” I love it 😂😂😂
The Audi V10 is one of my favorite sounding engines. I would love to have one, but I don't have the money.
2.5 R5 TDI AEL and 2.5 R5 TDI AAT are one of the best's Audi engines ever originally developed and projected by Audi and not Vw as with the 1.9 TDI engine
Měl jsem celé video úsměv od ucha k uchu protože ten zvuk ahhhhhh
I'd also include 2.0TDI... Many people say it's unreliable but if you maintain it as intended, change oil and so on on time - it is bulletproof.
Got the car at 170-175k km, now it's 244.500 and still runs flawlessly, nothing has been done to the engine lol
Well 2.0 is vw developed, engines from video are really developed by audi
My favorite audi engine
1 - 5.2 V10
2 - 5.0 V10 twin turbo
3 - 2.5 5 banger
4 - 4.2 V8
Bi turbo, not twin!!
@@goran3bg865 it means same thing
My current A6 has the 3.0 TDI and it's damned impressive. Torque for DAYS, and 700 miles on a single tank. It's a bit laggy when you hit the gas from a stand-still, but when it takes up you're thrown back in your seat :D
Sadly diesel is so expensive today compared to petrol.
I'm missing the 1.8T.. It was one of the greatest engines. Also, I have a 2.7 TT, it was used not just in the RS4 B5, but the S4, A6 (and allroad).
Even tho I still kinda understand your accent your captions help me alot :)
You missed the Supercharged 3.0 V6
I love my B5 S4.
The first V8 by Audi was the 3.6 (enginecode PT) in the first gen V8/D11 from 1988 to the summerbreak 1991. After the summerbreak you could buy the 4.2 (Motorcode ABH)
V8 4.2 in the S8 D2 face lifted model 01-03 360 HP bullet proof engine and still runs the easy to access timing belt not chain.
I came here for 2:15
That 3.0 tdi sound for a diesel and would be great even for a petrol😍
Some 20VTs were also great engines with tuning potential. Missed out that one, IMHO.
2.2 in the s4,s6, and rs2 where 20vt
I think he is talking about the 1.8 20vt
spindedark yes, and the best is the APY
This channel is gold... 😊
2:50 yo dawg we heard you like chains, so we put a chain by your chain so you can link while you link
I definitely wouldn't want to have to change the timing chain on that!
I wouldn't count on the reliability either. At least at some other cases of multiple chain VAG engines.
The 2.7 TDI is a nightmare to change the timing chain
@@erongashi4497 2.7 V6 TDI =/= 2.7 V6 BiTurbo 30 valve

Audi 3.0TDi. Shitting on every poor 2.0TDi owner since 2004.
That 3.0TDI almost sounds like a V8. Dayum.
Thanks for using my A5 at the 3.0tdi section 👍
Really hope to find their 2.7TT (B5 S4/RS4 and A6) in this vid!
I love my 2002 a4 quattro NA 3.0 b6 v6 with the 6 speed manual transmission red lines out at 7,000rpm and it pulls hard and solid through all 6 that NA 3.0 makes 221hp and 225ft lbs torque its fun thats for sure
it is reliable? im planning first car
Thanks for use my video 😁😎
the 2.2 sounds so freaking goood
Audi has always made the BEST SOUNDING ENGINES
3.0t (supercharged Petrol) should have def been on the list. One of the most reliable engines Audi has ever made aside from the inline 5's and def should have taken the 4.2 off instead of leave the 3.0t off
I have the 2003 rs6 4.2biturbo. its a solid engine. Too bad there are not many of them around
love my all blacked out 07 b7 rs4 4.2 v8 sounds so delicious manual only also perfect for a machine like these :-) owned a 2002 stage 3 s4 almost 500 hp all done up also fun car but b7 rs4 mmmmmmm
Just want to say that the 5.2L C6 S6 is my favorite car.
1: It’s gorgeous
2: It sounds gorgeous (Decatted, Straight piped)
3: You will get *A LOT* of looks, And *A LOT* of girls, women, and guys (if you swing that way)
My E60 M5 just gets looks from old guys and cops.
good c6 s6 costs like 10 000-20 000
Though the 2.8 which is pretty much an NA version of the 2.7 isn't as fast (190 HP/200 ish Ilb/ft), it's surprisingly reliable. My A4 has 238k miles on the clock and it's still kicking with the stock engine, though you can feel the age of the transmission.
3.0 supercharged V6 is awesome!
2.7 biturbo also comes In c5 Audi allroad stock around 250 HP like the A4 b7 2.0 tfsi
Best in power or and resource?
My dad has audi 100 and it sounds amazing
RS6 C5 4.2 twin turbo was the best, but why isn't it listed?
For me. The 5 cylinder in the RS3 is a thing a pure fucking beauty. That my next ride after I 'm done with my 08 S6.
Hey, what about the v-12 TDI Audi had a few years ago? Like the one in the Q7 and the Lemans race cars?
Mmmm tht white one had a nice ring to the ear not all obnoxious! Love em all
great video man
I miss old Audi
Major oversight. The 3.2 fsi is a great v6 engine which makes plenty of power and is much more reliable than the 2.0t. Youre turbo and intercooler cant break down if they dont exist.
wouldn't know it was a diesel hearing it.
Cool sound for sure👍
Got a 4.2l v8 in my S4 B6, monsterous engine...
The 2003 Audi RS6 was also a Cosworth collab.
