They need to bring the old Kais firey spirit back, the one who was willing to fight even without powers, the one who could understand when he couldn't do anything and was better to come up with a plan, the hot headed protector who wouldnt hesitate to protect someone

People are saying how they want the old Kai back ect and how bad it is that they reduced him to this but
People fail to realize that the most strong willed people can have the most devastating fall.
As a kind of a writer, AND as someone who has studied psychology: this is character development too - just a negative one.
Even strong warriors are bound to realize that they can't protect everyone, they can feel useless, and the thing about depression is - if it gets a hold of your mind just once, it'll never leave and will always be a little part of you.
I don't think that the writers of this show have neglected Kai, infact, in my opinion they just made him more.. real.
Yes there are places when they could have made a better job, like after Nya basically died they only focused on Jay
But I really get the feeling that Kai, having had to support both him and his sister from a young age and having had to mature a lot earlier than he was supposed to, it's possible that he learned to hide his feelings to appear strong for those he loves idk

Yeah, I actually heard something about Kai that makes sense in the later seasons. The reason why he’s more joke and not angry and protective is according to a random person on TH-cam, is because he’s actually healing. I mean, think about it, ever since his parents came back, he’s been slowly loosening up as the seasons go on. Not to mention he seems happy that their back, unlike Nya. I think his reaction differs from Nya so much, is probably BECAUSE he raised Nya instead of them. While he grew up HAVING to be strong and tough, Nya didn’t. Instead, with her brother raising her, it probably made her feel more…independent, if that makes sense..? You know, because she probably knew about Kai’s struggles, so maybe she tried to get more independent so that she wouldn’t be too much for him? Its probably the reason why Nya reacts differently, cause while Kai’s parents being around to ‘baby him’ is exactly what he DIDN’T get and being what he needs to heal his childhood wounds, Nya, knowing how Kai was super protective of her, probably grew up hating it, which probably doesn’t help when they abandoned you when you were only three.😅
I honestly don’t hate Kai,he’s actually my favorite character but in the new seasons his traits are taken away from him that made him the hot head we all know and love,they basically took his development and turned it onto Lloyd which I didn’t think was needed considering the fact,that Lyod was already getting good character development,they used to give all the characters their own development and know it seems like some get there’s taken away for plot now

honestly even tho he’s still my favorite, I definetly noticed something off about his character lately. I mean don’t me wrong there r still some moments where his character is there and most of time his character is still there but now he’s becoming more laid back and just kinda out of character sometimes. I don’t I agree but I still he’s a great character. In my book, if a character is still enjoyable to watch even if there character is changed then that’s a good character in my book

I hate the new Kai so much it's like hes been reset to season 1 no wait hes even more childish and doesnt care about his friends he deserves everything that happened to him in the newer seasons honestly
definetely true he used to be a hot head protector and literaly acts fast immediately but now he is becoming a more of a immature and de motivated character unlike season 4 and 5 where the fire burned bright in him without his powers

Tbf If I lost powers that were basically a part of both my blood and heritage to a Snake that basically treated my powers like Breakfast, and knowing it can happen again multiple times, got it back only for them to be too weak to save people that basically suffer a terrible fate, and has to fear about a final life in a Game, basically PTSD of cyberspace from Corrupted, and kept losing what made me special more than the rest of what I consider to be my extended family, I'd probably be a long term Expresso Depresso Boi too.
