Glad you enjoyed 'A Month in the Country' as much as I did. It's just a lovely read, conjuring up lots of things to think about, without going too dark. :)

That’s a great way to describe it - deep but not too dark 😀

    Great selection for January. 😊
"A Month in the Country" is such a wonderful book. I always want to see if I can find something else by the author to read.
"Hydra" I DNFd abut 10% in... I found the protagonist hard to stomach and I wasn't in for the writing either, so I decided, I wouldn't need to read it. 😅The premise sounded so promising, though!

I probably wouldn’t have picked up Hydra if not for the Stella Prize but I agree with you about the protagonist!

When I was on TikTok I followed Matilda Boseley as she was writing her book, I'm glad to hear she got it published and that you also found value in it! (I am not on TikTok anymore because I have to do things with my life that aren't scrolling 🙈)

TikTok scrolling definitely takes up more time than it needs to in my day!

I loved A month in the country. I also watched the movie and loved that too. What’s not to love about Kenneth Branagh and Colin Firth… 😊

I only discovered the movie’s existence after reading the book - I’ll have to give it a go!
