I did NOT expect to catch this! While catfishing with the homies I hooked a GIANT snapping turtle! Since snappers can eat lots of fish I thought it would be best if i took it out and threw it in the pot! I hope you all enjoy!

Not true, you want them to work the bait and hook into their mouth and the hook helps against gut hooking so letting them run with the bait a little, is a good thing.

Nothing better than tight lining for cat fish with some buddies and a cooler full of beer
Never set a circle hook, just easy pressure.
Some advice if you want to catch catfish
Use slightly larger circle hooks
Don't use those cat fish balls
Stink bait works better when the water is warm with a little bit of flow
Try to use cut bait
Consider using a peg float Carolina rig to get your bait to suspend off the mud
Chicken breast works well with jello.

When using circle hooks and setting the hook sweep to the side also don't underestimate just using a Carolina rig with a night crawler on it. Come to south east Iowa I'll show you to catfish and you can show me to Bass fish

You dont have to set a circle hook. They are designed to hook the corner of the fishes mouth it sets itself

Hey, try to garlic salt your chicken livers to help them dry out and stay on the hook if you give it a shot again. I lay them out on wax paper and let them dry out while coating them with garlic salt.
I've caught atleast 500 catfish in my days and the best bait hands down is shrimp without the shell on

Love catching cats, when my grandparents lived in Arkansas when I was younger I used to go visit them every summer during school summer break. They had a neighbor across the way from them, they had a decent half acre clay pond that was FULL of cats! They used to let me over there and let me catch the cats all day, probably one of the most fun and fighting fish I've ever caught. We'd let them clean out in fresh water for a few days then filet them, and fry them, BOOYYYY is that some good eating man!
Not gonna lie Sausage is great, either just franks sausage just like that or let them sit overnight in a ziplock bag with red cherry koolaid and minced Garlic, it's been catching catfish since as far back as i can remember

Try catfishing again! But find some Chicken Liver. The way we do it, is cut a good size piece of the liver, pass it thru the top of a treble hook (so it doesnt fall off) and just put it back on the swivel and cast.
I don’t think anyone would of guessed these guys really love meat.

Use either chunked chicken breast or shrimp marinated in cool aid mix with no water over night.
Flair in April- There is like 7 different kinds of meat on a turtle.
Flair in October- There is like 20 different kinds of meat on a turtle.
Use beef liver. It stays on hook better than chicken liver.
Wild rice soup with turtle is awesome. Add some fresh carrots and celery.
Just a simple “Yeet” oughta suffice as a comment.

another good thing to do is put the chicken hearts and gizzards in a bag and then put a little pit of water in the bag then put strawberry chicken then let it soak for a few hours in freezer then fish

I put a weight at the very end of my line, come up 6-8 inches tie off a simple slip knot for a treble hook go up another 6-8 inches and send another slip know off the line about 2-3 inches and always had the best luck on nightcrawlers. Big juicy ones.
