That brought back a lot of memories 👍 I spent a lot of years working derrick's in the oil-field of (NE) Oklahoma and southern Texas. H&P Drilling Co, One Oak, Core Drilling, Trig Drilling and many others. I know no one really cares much, but i had a lot of good (and bad) memories, some time on Drilling rigs (Derrick's) and Work-Over rigs (Same position). I loved it.
I never heard the term “pulling unit” before. In Canada we call them service rigs. I worked on single/doubles (single joint of tubing and double stand of rods). Mostly on heavy or medium crude and natural gas wells. 3.5”, and occasionally 4.5” or 2 7/8” oil well tubing and 2 3/8” tubing in gas wells. A lot of rotary pumps and some pump jacks. Roughnecked for a year, worked derrick for 4 and derricked/relief drilled for a year. Was a good job. I loved being up in the stick. Had to work off farm to keep the farm going. Book days off to put crop in or take it off. Pretty good crew and hell of a clean rig! Rigs up here just naturally get dirty over time. Inspection on spring break up and we would give her a nice bath and shone ‘er up again.

xlent video.i started in salt creek field wyo.and 25 yrs later moved to redi mix in ventura ca.due to slow down in the patch.and needed a chg of scenery.good crew looks like.attic rat latches that tall stuff good as iv seen.1st operaten job was a triple double franks at 19 yrs old.not so special just drank less and showed up regular.haha.be carefull out there lads'
Excellent video. We are just beginning to see the forefront of the employment of drones. And like most technology....it can be used for good purposes and..... it can be used for evil purposes. Again, superb vid.

Tall ass pipe must be 33 ft per joint. Makes it hard to latch. I always liked 2 ft above my head.
